Sir.Ryland and family
My husband and I have stayed at the Oregon Garden Resort before and really enjoyed it. So for my parents 60th wedding anniversary, I thought it would be nice to get them the dinner package which includes a room, dinner and a bottle of wine. The plan was for the family to spend the day in the garden with them, until it was time for them to go to dinner. So I went to the library and checked out the Oregon garden cultural pass that gets two adults and four children into the garden for free. My son did the same. But the woman at the counter had never seen these before, and had no idea what to do, nor was there anyone there to ask. She was nice and let us go into the garden for free anyway. At around 1:00 PM we decided to have lunch. So I went to the Garden Café and told them we had 15 in our group, but that I knew that it was too large of a group so we were totally fine with splitting up. The woman said that they couldnt serve us because they were short staffed. We were in no hurry and again I said that we would be separate groups, that was not a problem, and that they are the only restaurant there, and we would like to eat lunch. But she said she was sorry, but they still cant serve us. I do want to mention that the restaurant was not very crowded. I went to the front desk and asked if there was a manager I could speak to, but there was not. The woman asked what the problem was, and when I explained, she agreed that it didnt sound right, so she went to the kitchen and talked to someone who came out and tried to tell me that our group was too large. Again, I let her know that we were going to split up into as many groups as necessary. We didnt care if they seated us at all different times! But at this point I said that we were willing to just drive into town to eat if it was such a problem! She said that they would get some tables ready for us. They finally called us in, and I asked how many of us she wanted. She said everyone. There was now hardly any other customers in the restaurant, in fact I think there was just one other table. They had set up 4 booths all in the same area. But they didnt give us the normal menus! They had given us a smaller menu that they said was for large groups. Now, I broke into tears, and tried to explain for the millionth time that we had asked to be separated. As I sobbed, I told her that I did not want to sit with the rest of the group, but that I want to be seated on the other side of the room with a normal menu and be treated like all the other customers!!!! Instead of calling for a straight jacket, she hugged me and said she would try and make things better. She now gave us normal menus and also childrens menus for the kids, and gave us good service. The rest of the day went better. My parents enjoyed their dinner and the clean, nice room. But the experience was so very disappointing, especially since it was a very special event. Also, it was my brother and sister-in-laws first time of going to the Garden, and I highly doubt that my sister- in- law will EVER want to go back there! I am not sure how I feel about going back either, but I do know that I will not use it for any special or important event again!

I hate to give this place a bad review because the facilities are AWESOME and it is very nice quiet and cozy. I have been twice because I do love it here and thought the awful service was just a fluke... unfortunately it wasnt. Upon check in we were greeted with a very unenthusiastic hi why are you bothering me attitude. When we went to the restaurant (that was nearly empty) we were told we couldnt have dinner because we didnt have a reservation... funny since the last time we came we had one and they said oh thats not necessary.. (the inconsistency in this place is almost comical if I wasnt spending so much to stay here. I could go on and on) they "let" us have the privilege of sitting down an hour and a half later to eat(we had not eaten since early morning because we were looking forward to dinner there) The hostess told a server that she needed to set a table for us she threw her water pitcher down and roller her eyes toward us and made some annoyed noise... I nicknamed her angry ( : we sat down and it took about twenty minutes for us to even be asked for our drink order or to get water.. I do have to say the young man who was our server was pleasant (he was the only one) oh I forgot to mention we went to the lounge to wait for dinner and they had ONE person taking care of the entire place.. It was busy enough for AT LEAST 3 people to be working so again it took 30 minutes to get a drink I even had to track her down at the bar she never came to us..ok back to dinner. We ordered the fillet min-on (SP?) medium they said that would be pink in the middle it came out dry and VERY well done it tasted more like bad roast.. So that was a waste of $100.00 bucks.. Now to the room it was clean and cozy we had asked for a late checkout when I booked the room I had to remind them of that in the morning (the maid just walked into our room no knock nothing!) When I got in the shower the washcloth I grabbed had BLOODSTAINS on it! Do they wash this stuff or just fold it back up for the next person.. A very nasty surprise to say the least! The ice machine had been removed from our area so I had to go on a search for ice. in twenty degree weather. All in all I would say this place COULD BE one of the best places I have ever stayed if not for the terrible staff. It sad because they are ruining a place I would love to go to again and again.. Everything for them is a hassle and they act like you are a nuisance.. and I am very easy going Im one of the easiest customers to please just be nice and act like you appreciate me as a customer.. I am in sales and if I had the attitude of these people I would be fired in one day! I have to recommend to the general manager that he read the book the E-Myth and make his staff read it. Maybe it would help. Maybe not... Maybe a whole new management and staff is in order... I hope something improves because it is such a great facility and a very nice place for a getaway... I would like to give it one more shot but am afraid to waste my money on another customer service nightmare... There were many other small things that happened but This has been long enough... OH the people IN the spa ARE great I will give them that..

My husband and I came up the weekend of March 17-19 to celebrate his birthday and I had scheduled a Couples Spa Day which included couples massage, couples facials of choice, pedicures and a Spa Protein Plate for two. -Checking in went ok, I did use a Facebook code which included a free dinner that we did not get immediately, I had to ask about it and the front desk person seemed confused and had to ask for help. Also later on that evening we heard that there was a wedding happening during our stay and if I had been told that when I made reservations I probably would have picked a different weekend. -Friday night we were going to go to dinner but the dinning room was packed so we decided to go to the Fireside lounge. So glad we did! Everyone in there was great! Devan our server/bartender was very accommodating and wonderful. We were able to order dinner in there and relax as we listened to their live music. -Saturday morning we decided to try going to the dinning area for breakfast and it was less crowed and the food was pretty good. It rained most of the day on Saturday so we were unable to walk about the gardens but thankfully we had our spa day planned and were looking forward to it. We got to the spa early like they had asked, filled out our paperwork and were given a robe and slippers to change into and were told to go sit in their relaxation room to relax and that someone could come get us for our massage. Well, the relaxation room was anything but relaxing, it was crowed and there was no where to sit. We where in their for about 10 minutes before we were called off for our massages, which were amazing! We had no complaints there (we just wished they were longer). After that we went back to the relaxing room were we waiting for our facials. When I made the appointment they said facial of your choice but no one ever asked us what we wanted so when we were into the facials they were already set up for something else. After the facials we were both exhausted from all the relaxing that we were looking forward to our protein platter. We sat in the relaxation room waiting for 30 minutes for someone to bring us the protein platter that we finally gave up, found our way back in the rooms, changed, and we up to the desk and asked about the platter and the response that we got was, "Yeah, I didnt get around to it." And we didnt get our pedicures because the gal who does it was out. Not impressed with their spa and staff.
