FANTASTIC!!! I took my 4 year old daughter and my 10 year old son today and it was AWESOME! I was able to join them and play doing all the things they did with ease being that the play place was made with adults in mind. I held my daughters hand through some of the tougher obstacles and she loved being in an area that her and her brother could play in together. The first thing I noticed was there was a person cleaning the tunnels and toys the whole time I was there (3hrs). I was amazed because I had never been to a kids play place that didnt make me feel like I needed to shower my kids, as well as myself, right afterwards. They also had a place for groups of kids to play this kinect type game using their bodies as controls in games such as musical squares, doge ball, and a four player pong type game. My favorite part had to be the ball area. There were two sides of vaccume cannons and hundreds of soft foam balls to load them with. I tried to doge their cannon attacks while throwing balls at them from the ground! It was amazing and I am sure to pay the price for a royal play pass being that I feel the money will be well worth it. I did pay $10 per kid today because it is holiday vacation which isnt something I would normally do but I wouldnt take it back. It is always getting things at a discount though hence me spending the extra upfront money in order to get a discount. I didnt try their cafe food but it looked good. I just didnt want to spend more than the $20 I had already spent. I packed lunches for my kids and left them in the car as there is a very strict no outside food policy. When they got hungry I took them to my car and we ate lunch there and went right back to playing afterwards. I did get a locker but they were really small, maybe get two if you have a lot of stuff. They are free so I cant complain. All in all this is a place you have to take your kids to. To get a couple bucks off dont go on a weekend or holiday vacation time. I did get tired was happy that I could sit down in the cafe area while being able to see the kids play. This is a must :)

Love love loved it! most places in Portland close by five and when you work that leaves little options. my toddler and hubby had a blast at this place. Great prices! $4 for my toddler (3 and under) and FREE PARENTS! This includes everything except food of course. No extra quarters or cash needed to enjoy other perks (thank you). Its actually very well built with tons of space and wasnt too crowed because of the different areas to focus on (genius design). The slides are super fast so be sure to know your slider limits before you send your toddler down alone. However, if you judged your limits wrong or your kid insisted on their independence, PlayDate has thought ahead for you by placing a very cushiony landing (thank you again). Another section has these air canons with tons of nerf balls to shoot. you choose a side and blast away as many balls as you can carry. Our family favorite besides the slide was a lit game/dance floor for you to pull off your best John Travolta moves! Its either a disco floor or other games like bug squishing. we didnt get to far past the disco part. Lastly theres a mini play area for the lighter players. Its a few mini slides, wall activities, and big foam blocks. Now the food isnt something to skip, they have a nice cafe menu. We had their peninis with a little side salad and a soda (free refills). It was delcious. I also seen a lot of familys ordered pizzas which looked great. they do also serve alcohol, espresso, and some gluten-free desserts. Their seating area is plentiful. chairs and tables along with a couch living room set up as well. I do wish there was outlets for people to use while there but maybe I missed it. its almost a must with wifi. You can definitely tell a family designed this place. Grab a section order a great dinner and let your kids run out the miraculous energy your so envious of (I finally got some hobby beading done, lol) Again the later closing time, the price, seatting area, along with high quality food adds up to a place to take your kids. it is aptly named PlayDate for a reason.

coming in to pdx playdate i was was initially impressed. All of the kids looked as if they were having a good time and we spent so much money to ensure that our kids could participate in what i thought was a safe and fun environment. As the evening progressed some kids where involved in some kind of altercation and a parent of one of the child called some African American children " Black Animals". what was shocking to be wasnt the altercation the children was involved in, nor was it the ignorant statement of the man who called them " Black Animals", it was the lack of problem solving skills of management the manager kept asking me " what do you want be to do about it?" as if i was the manager and it was up to me to rectify the situations. long story short management did absolutely nothing to validate the discrimination we experienced. my nephews first birthday will forever be marked by this event and i would never return nor encourage anyone to go; because god forbid a situation arise where someone needs to utilize any managerial skills, i have zero confidence the staff at pdx playdates would know how to handle the situation. word of advise HAVE ENOUGH STAFF MONITORING THE CHILDREN SO THAT IRRATIONAL ADULTS DONT HAVE TO GET INVOLVED IN MATTERS WHERE A LITTLE DEESCALATION WOULD HAVE BEEN AN EFFECTIVE INTERVENTION. STAFF SHOULD BE STATIONED THROUGHOUT THE PLAY STRUCTURE TO MONITOR AND SUPERVISE THE CHILDREN. its so unfortunate that the manager couldnt acknowledge that their lack of prevention contributed to the situation that transpired that day.

Where to start here... When we walked in at 11am on a Sunday, we were surprised to find the place packed (googles peak times graph was way off), with not a free table to be found. After hawk-eyeing the place for 10 or 15 minutes, we staked out a tiny table in the niche by the bathrooms and set up our "base camp", a table for two for our family of seven (see picture). The staff seemed stretched thin with those taking reservations and payments also sadled with taking and delivering food and drink items. The line at the cafe area was long and slow-moving, and I was encouraged to order through the receptionists for speedier service. Tipping is discouraged because an automatic 10% is added to your bill, regardless of service or availability. Weekends are double-cost and triple-packed. I heard others complaining about the line for the bathrooms at 12:30pm. Garage-style doors were opened in our niche by the play area at 12:45pm (presumably to cool the room?) without warning or excuse, forcing me to put my jacket back on, and driving two other tables out. While the play area is spacious and clean, I feel like the advertising for this place is misleading in its simplicity and high-end aspirations. The patronage is hipster bordering on elitist. Will probably not come back, since Monkey King Playhouse is much closer to our house and preferred.
