This rarely crowded, spacious, well shaded, and well maintained park is central to the Brooklyn/Reed districts of Southeast Portland. Great for tennis and basketball or a relaxing afternoon picnic (Bring blanket, there are a few tables but no shelters) or maybe a go-to spot for sneaking away with your favorite book for an hour or two of reading and relaxation but children and those looking for a more diverse selection of activities might quickly become bored as there is little other than a small playground and swingset to offer recreation. Walkers and runners may find the paved perimeter path useful for brief cardio. Be advised: after dark the roof of the old brick structure near the tennis court and school becomes a notorious hangout for individuals engaging in behavior that many may find objectionable.

"The land occupied by Kenilworth Park and most of the Kenilworth neighborhood was part of the land claim owned by Clinton Kelly, a Methodist minister from Kentucky who settled in the area in 1848. In 1909 the Portland Park Board purchased 9 acres from Kelly with funds from a 1908 bond measure created specifically to acquire land for parks in Portland. In 1912 a comfort station pavilion was added and remains an important historic feature of the park."

This is a classic Portland park. Situated next to grout elementary, you have excellent swings on the western end and a whole other playstructure right across the street. Theres a ton of grass that actually tends to stay nice in the summer due to the parks sloping nature (and probably parks and rec) so Kenilworth makes for a great dog park. There are even paths around the whole thing for taking walks on. All around great, consistent park.

I love this park. Its always beautifully maintained, clean and never too crowded. The landscape is so lovely. The rhododendrons are breathtaking. When it snows, the beautiful lamps set a storybook mood. My husband and I picnicked here last summer and watched for hours as two yellow monarch butterflies danced in spirals around each other. It couldnt have been more perfect. Its such a huge step up from the Colonel Summers Park.

I love this big park. Great place to walk, the upper park of the park provides a flat circle you can walk in if you want a simple walk and the rest of the park has some big hills if you want more of an up and down walk. The view on top of the shack is amazing!

Decent park. Has two different play areas; one for younger children and one for older. Sadly they are at opposite ends of the park. Has a lovely running/jogging path that circles the entire woodes park. Frequently has a trash problem though.

Car was broken into and always seem to have gestapo portland police officers harassing citizens in creepy ways that leave you vulnerable and they also like to kick people when theyre down.

Such a great family friendly park during the day. Keep kids away at night, drugs and sketch activity usually occupy the park at night
