Ive been to this location twice. The location and decor are incredibly cozy and rustic, in a great way! The food was also good both times. However, the service was pretty bad. The first time, our server was rude and dismissive. The second time our server spilled water on our table and didnt clean it up, didnt know which beers were available to be part of a beer flight (resulting in him delivering the wrong ones after I ordered it), and took a VERY long time to bring food/drinks. I really want to love this place as its a wonderful location, had great live music, and serves good food. However, the bad experiences with service, combined with the fact that they are the only location Ive been to that doesnt offer Happy Hour on the weekends (although they still give you a Happy Hour menu) will keep me from going back. We LOVE our McMenamins Happy Hour!

The only disappointments in this place is lousy choice for happy hour menu. The prices are a few dollars too high for the amount of food you get. While the taste is good we left feeling like we were robbed. We had the "chili sampler" that was their special for the celebration today. It was YUMMY, but worth $4 not $8. The portions all together would have been a small bowl, no sides or garnishment included. The garden burger was a bit dry and you need to add your own sauce creation. If they through in some cajun totts then it be worth the $5 for happy hour. Come on guys, Stanfords happy hour Burger fills you up will their added touches. I would give this one more try, only cause of the fact it is so private and in the country. Maybe their Wine Sampler for $12.50 would be a nice way to try Oregon & Washington wines.

This is that one restaurant that is my go to when nothing else will do. Whether I want my go to favorite, the turkey dip or I want to check out the weekly specials and try something new, I am never disappointed. From friendly, relatable staff, delicious pub food with new and clever twists, to the live venues and always beautiful grounds Rock Creek never fails to satisfy. I cant forget to mention that this place is oozing with history and its all on display for guests to read about and then piece together with the original artworks throughout the establishment. Anyone who enjoys learning about the past needs to come check out the history these humble walls contain and have to share with those who seek to know- or simply seek a good meal and find themselves scanning there walls until their food arrives. ;)

While the food and drinks were good, it took about 2 hours for the waitstaff to provide a single meal and 3 drinks on the patio. She didnt even check to see if your drinks were getting empty, you literally had to grab here for every little thing. From the time we ordered until the food came was seriously over a hour. I heard this place does tip sharing, well if you ask me this place is pretty much a living example of why communism will never work... I dont care what the other reviewers said about the food and drink making up for it. Its no fun to sit there with noone checking on you. The food can be a little slow, but they never even check to see if you need another drink. This was literally the worst part of my day... its not really supposed to be like that when you go out for dinner.

My wife and I are slowly working through our McMenamins Passport. Today we visited their Rock Creek location. The fish was crisp and flaky, the French Dip was bold and delicious! Weve been enjoying our stamp collecting and all the offerings McMenamins has. While much of this location is wheelchair accessible, a lot of it is not. I found that to be a case with most of their historic locations, which I suppose is to be expected. They do have some very nice balcony dining areas however I could not personally access them but I had my wife take photos.

Great atmosphere but the service is consistently pretty horrible. Tried to go here tonight but ended up walking out given how disorganized and inattentive the staff were. Figured wed vote with our feet and patronize somewhere that doesnt have rude staff. We wrote our names down on the "wait list" and were recalled to cross our names off the list as we were being seated. Seriously? Why does the customer need to manage your wait list? Staff were busy chatting with each other while customers were standing waiting and tables were left dirty.

The Rock Creek Tavern is a really great place to listen to music in the evening. They have live music almost every night. The upstairs has pool and shuffle board. They outside patio is lovely in the Summer. The building is really beautiful and the decor is super fun. I like to stop here after a hike in Forest Park. The food, beer and service here are always excellent. This is one of the places I like to treat out of town guest to. It is completely unexpected, and the country side surrounding it is a welcome change from the city.

Gorgeous, rustic retreat nestled in a wooded area overflowing with green currently. Great patio space and interior ambiance with a large barn cabin feel that truly takes you back to the early 1900s when it was first constructed. Classic tap list found at most McMenamins, plus a few tasty rotating taps. The (crisped to perfection) Cajun Tots and onion rings were both huge portions and deliciously done. Fireplaces inside and out keep crowds warm as they gather to wet their whistles in equal company... Thanks! See ya real soon! Best, ~S

It is LOUD! Like pack your ear plugs loud. Every night is a hoe down, and what the performers lack in talent, they make up in volume. You seat yourself and wait 15-20 mins for your server to bring you a menu.(I have been here twice and the second time I just left after 20 minutes of not being acknowledged by a server.) The menu is all items you can get at any Mcmenamins location. Same with the beer. There is nothing about this place that I feel I need to go back for, but if you like loud twangy music, this is the place for you.

The place is tucked away beneath trees and its a really scenic bicycle ride to the tavern. The tavern itself looks pretty and rustic. There is nothing healthy to eat here though besides soup and salad. I ordered fish and got fried fish where I was expecting a grilled fish. The food is no better than pizza schmizza. The salad too is disappointing and rather sad. There bar looked interesting though I didnt order any drinks. Next time i might just ride down there for a drink and carry my own sandwich

Took Son & Wife for a quick dinner before they flew back to New Orleans. Setting was just what they were looking for, the brew was very good, staff was friendly, but food was just so-so. The Baby Backed Ribs were a real downer. Not sure when they might have been "prepared", but were luke warm, meat hard and tasteless, and sauce only for looks. Had we not been there for special event would have refused the order. May try again, but very disappointed this visit. Jim

This establishment is different from chains. I have read in past reviews patrons distaste for service. However, this companies niche is creating a relaxing environment to share with friends. The speed of the service is slower than Applebees but good things take time. In addition, these restaurants have open seating, first come, first serve. So relax, have some cocktails and dont worry how long its taking for your grilled cheese.
