Alton Baker Parks a decent place to go for a walk, run, or ride your bike. I took my family here to do a little geocaching — theres a handful of caches located in the park and are relatively easy to find using your smartphone and some of the more well-made geocaching apps available. A few things though: • your feet/legs WILL get dirty — the dirt trails are covered with some sort of dirt/wood mix and its just inevitable that youll get soiled up a bit with all the dust you may kick up. • you may also find yourself picking slivers out of your socks and shoes — after a few miles of hiking, the slivers became unbearable to my kids and quite irritating for us adults. • if you do any geocaching, the spots we went to are not that far off the path — no need to go bush-whacking to find the little cannister.

I love this park. I bicycle through it all the time; I love the variety of trails. There are great spots along the river for swimming or just hanging out. The ducks are a welcome sight, as well as the foliage and the scale of the planets; which extends far into skinner butte park. Ive been to the dog park, and rode on the BMX track, Ive sat on the hill to listen to a concert at Cuthbert Amphitheater (I didnt have a ticket.) There’s a boat ramp and not to mention its right next to the science factory, Auzten stadium and PK park the baseball stadium. There’s plenty of community events that occur in the park, as well as some rental areas so you can have your own event.

I moved here from Portland and Indiana before that and I have yet to see a park that almost seriously serves as a living heart to a city. By bicycle the trail system is not only massive it goes pretty much anywhere with this park at Eugenes heart. The wildlife is incredible and due to Eugenes compassionate treatment to the animals are close to humans making it an awesome connection to nature right in Oregons second largest city. I love this park and of coarse its awesome Autzen stadium and all of our ducks! Dont forget the little beaches and extensive hiking trail system too.

The park is great, the kids and my wife and myself had a wonderful time chasing Pokémon around the park. The paths were very well maintained wide and spacious enough for my wife and I to walk hand in hand. The trails were so nice and the scenery was so beautiful that we wound up walking close to 8 miles. My only complaint would be all of the transients. The kids wanted to run ahead and explore the river trails but I did not feel comfortable because of the transients. I know that it just part of being in a city and the park more than made up for that little detractions.

The Park is well kept, quiet and large. It has many places to simply sit and enjoy the scenery or just relax and listen to the miriad ducks and geese squabble. The trails are appropriate for biking but wide enough that its safe and stress free to mosey. There are tables for sitting and both natural and manicured isthmus about the park from which you can dangle your feet in the water. There are shallow places in which to wade and open areas where it is easy to keep track of children. Covered areas around the park afford shade and outdoor party venues. Beautiful park.

I used to love this place... but now it looks like a cross between Detroit and some eastern European death camp. Seriously: what used to be a fairly scenic duck pond now has *FUGLY*, grossly unnecessary fences all over the place. Its an eyesore of a dump to bypass as quickly as possible to less ruined sections of the river trail. P.S. Also be sure to experience the public restrooms there: no doors, no seats, and - more often than not - a crazy person camped out in one

Eugene could be a mecca of awesomeness but there are just too many homeless lounging around, living in all the parking lots and open areas. I was amazed to see vehicles on cinder blocks in the park parking lots in the area. It ruins the entire grounds. The trails would be so amazing if they just cleaned this place up! Maybe I just got tired of being approached by beggars and people trying to sell me things from jewelry to fake arrowheads. Either way, just not for me.

I went to pride with a friend and we walked around the park. It is beautiful! There is an awesome pedestrian bridge people were walking on and riding bikes on. There is great art, an island (ducks were reading on it) and a great scientific view of the shower system - they have the whole solar system set up to 1 billionth scale! My buddy was playing Pokémon Go as well. Makes for a really nice afternoon.

As another reviewer mentioned, the park itself is quite nice and large, but just be aware that there can be a number of homeless wandering about at times. Theres a ton of potential with a little better upkeep in some parts of the park. Also be aware that some stretches of the park can get eerily quiet and deserted such as around early evening, but I never encountered any problems while wandering about.

I to read worthless reviews like that from the likes of cynics like Henry. Why he even bothers to get up in the morning is the question. Alton Baker Park is a very large and varied , and a beautiful open space near an urban area. Bicycling, concerts at Cuthbert Amphitheater, the River, and a stones throw from downtown and the university make this a park Eugene should be proud of.

It used to be more family friendly. The kids used to call it "Duckland" and loved to feed them. Now the water area is fenced off and the ducks & geese are gone. The City allowed one of the parking lots to be turned into a homeless camp. The scale model of the solar system that was laid out in the park years ago has been heavily vandalized. Not the great park it used to be.

Love this dog park. One of our favorites in Eugene. It offers ample room for dogs to run and play and plenty of room to avoid any dogs that arent getting along with others. I like that there is a tree area and a grassier area. Great place for dogs to smell all sorts of different smells and I like the path through the park to walk on. Well maintained.

This parks is so big with multiple water and even fishing spots, It has many learning opportunities via statues and plaques, planets and presidents, which is great for kids. There has been a lot of improvement here over the years & now I know why it says not to feed the ducks/geese. My favorite part?...the Pokestops of course.

Its a nice park that runs along the Willamette river and is great for biking/jogging/walking threw on the bike paths that lead to the University of OU or to Springfield the next town over . Also great in the summer for different types of outdoor activities and events and beautiful colors in the fall season.
