Summary of rant below: - 40 minutes since first sitting down to get drinks (which were great – only reason why I gave more than 1 star), - food was nothing special (I’m sure you can get better elsewhere), - high server incompetency (swearing, carrying food in bare hands, not following through on comp items) despite them telling us they were having staffing issues, I’ll start by saying that it was fairly busy tonight and we were told early in our dining experience that they were under-staffed. We decided to come here tonight for our first time because I really had a hankering for margaritas. Both my boyfriend and I worked in restaurants previously, so we know how these kind of nights go, but also means we notice certain things. It seemed to us the under-staffing was mostly in the back of house, because there were 6-7 servers (well, at least people that were helping to deliver food) that we observed throughout our time there. Well, it was “seat yourself” tonight, so we picked a spot on the main floor and decided on what we wanted to eat/drink. 10 minutes later we were told itd be a few minutes. 5 minutes after that we were told that if we wanted to order, everything was behind so it might take a little longer than usual. We both figured, whatever, nowhere that we have to rush to tonight, and at least we were aware of the situation. And what a situation it turned out to be. We ordered everything (appetizer, drinks, and dinner) right then and there. As we were saying our selections, we were told that some of them (like the guacamole appetizer) would be “quick” (hint: it wasn’t). 30 minutes after ordering them, our drinks finally come. No excuse for drinks taking that long. However, the drinks were excellent (so good that we ordered more – right away of course so we’d get them while we were eating and not 20 minutes after we left). At this point, we were told that our entire food order would be comped, and the drinks couldn’t because of some alcohol law (which we both said was complete BS after the server left, but hey, don’t make promises you can’t keep right?). 10 minutes after that our appetizer comes, and about 15 after that our food (total time to receiving entrée since first sitting down: 55 minutes). Food was okay, but nothing “wowy” and a little overpriced. Throughout the course of this ordeal, our server thought it appropriate to curse and bring lemons for our water in their bare hands. Both highly inappropriate and/or unsanitary. However, as I mentioned before, my boyfriend and I have both been there and I think we were more than generous with our tip. As we were finishing our seconds drinks (also excellent), the manager finally visits us to apologize and offers us a complimentary dessert (which we accepted to go). Bill comes next and the only things comped was the dessert (total time since first sitting down: a little less than 2 hours). No real surprise there (no company would comp that much stuff on a wim), but don’t tell people you’re going to remove something and then don’t follow through – bad business practice. At this point, we’re just ready to leave so we paid and high-tailed it home. I know a lot of this stuff is probably petty, but altogether it’s unacceptable. I’m not sure we’ll ever come back, but if we do, we’ll likely sit at the bar and only get drinks. The drinks were the only reason I gave more than 1 star.

We just moved to Maine about 6 months ago. We have been doing the Maine Beer Trail and we were in the area hitting a couple breweries. We seen this place and decided to give it a try. The food was average. The waitess was fine. Nothing was over the top, but it was ok. Heres what ticks me off though...when we left, we left our beer passports on the table. When we figured out what we had did about 15 minutes after leaving we called them immediately. They said they didnt have them. We knew we left them there, but they keep saying they werent there. We decided to turn around and go back cause we knew we had them and we put a lot of work into getting these passports signed off by many breweries. My husband walks back in and immediately then they start looking for them. Low and behold our waitress thru them away. I get mistakes happen and we where stupid and left them...but it would have been nice if when we called they looked for it. Not just immediately say they dont have it and hung up. We could of lost a lot of work we had put into getting this thing signed off. That is what ticks me off. That tome was unsatisfactory.

I adore Mexican food and when we first moved to town we had to try every mexican place in town. I usually give a place at least 2 chances before I write it off...well this place got 1 chance. The food was absolutely inedible. The salsa tastes like ketchup with a lot of cumin stirred in. The "chicken" was so covered and bathed in grease it was unrecognizable. The beans tasted like someone dumped the whole pepper grinder in them. I guess maybe if youre a drunk freshman with the munchies this might do the trick. Otherwise avoid at all costs.

Its been about 6 months since Ive visited and I wont be going again. Theyve changed their recipes and not for the better. Chicken chimichanga used to have shredded chicken, now its chunks with no flavor and a brown film on the outside of each piece. Refried beans have gone down the tube too. Half mashed, half unmashed and like a big glob on your plate. Prices are a little high even if the food and drinks were excellent.

The salsa is great. Just hot enough, with a nice spicy heat to it. I like that there are nice sized chunks of tomato in the salsa too. Chips are hot when they arrive, and quite good. The margaritas taste good, though they frequently lack the requisite amount of tequila. The entrees are good. Typical Americanized Mexican food. Taco salads are quite good. More than you can eat.

I hate Margaritas. The prices for the drinks are not bad, but the drinks are TERRIBLE! and the food is worse then Taco Bell. Ugh...I have been there several times because everyone says it rocks! I have been disappointed everytime. And the wait staff needs to learn a few things.

Great margaritas and free chips! The lounge is a great place to grab a quick bite to eat and watch some sports. I prefer sitting in this area over upstairs or downstairs. Sometimes the service can be a little slow but for the most part the servers are super pleasant and attentive.

The kitchen is a disasterpiece, new management must not know how to manage. Cold quesadillas, literally, and i do mean literally inedible guacamole, churros with salt instead of sugar !! Flat greasy nachos. This place is really gross. Need some people with real kitchen experience

This place has good food, and specially their margarita... The place is very close to the school campus and student housing, so many students visit this place often so it can be crowded at times with waiting time, so be prepared. Overall good experience.

Margaritas is an Orono staple for a reason: the food is excellent, the drinks are delicious, and the restaurant itself is very well-kept. Ive been here quite a few times and never had anything close to a bad meal.
