Bert Way was a great designer who did Mayfield CC and Firestone South. Unfortunately he was given a small and poor piece of land to work with at Blackbrook. Im a member of Mayfield Sand Ridge and Quail, but I live within a few minutes of Blackbrook and would like to use the range, but it is $10 to hit a bucket of well-worn junk balls off weeds and divots. The course is expensive for the quality. It is short, poorly maintained, and other golfers wear jeans and cut-off shirts. It is a course for juniors, beginners, and seniors. Years ago I played 9 holes and on number 8 (a rare strong hole on the course) the green was hard as rock. I hit a shot to the middle of the green and it bounced 20 feet in the air like I hit a cart path and went into the trees behind the hole. I mentioned it to the ranger and instead of giving a reason for not watering the greens he said "guess you have to account for that next time and land it short of the green". There was no next time.

Hands Down the worst golf course Ive ever had the misfortune of experiencing! First they get you in the door by advertising a price $6 lower than what it actually is. After that, they send you to the back 9, aka 9 ungroomed holes, looks like its abandoned. The holes are all the same, simply going back and forth with no changes. There are also no signs to indicate keeping the golf cart on the paved path. However, I did veer off the paved path, onto a patch of DEAD grass, and was screamed at by TWO golf rangers. Apparently they care about the grass they havent touched since it was planted 10 years ago. In Summation, the city of mentor has managed to take what was always a junk golf course to a new level of bad, and if you value your dollars, you need to go elsewhere!

Last time I played this course, it was beautiful and very well maintained. I LOVED this course, the people, so many great memories lost. I havent played the course since the City of Mentor took over but prior to that, the course was run by golf pro Jack Austin for over 30 years and prior to that, Jacks father, John Austin, managed the course. The course was always in pristine shape with the expertise of Mark, Floyd and prior to them, a gentleman by the name of Marvin. So much history, so many stories... Its a shame that none of these guys were ever remembered or honored for their years of service to this golf course. And to read these reviews, it is beyond disappointing...

Course is well maintained, however very repetitive. Customer service is extremely poor at the golf course. I am a minor and they had to drive me and my friend to the practice range. They told us to call back when we were ready to be picked up. Well we called back and NO ONE came to get us. We took a 15 minute walk back only to find the guy leaving to pick us up. He said he was "busy". Well I was going to buy a $220 on a new set of clubs there. But I recanted thinking he would be to busy to serve me.

Blackbrook is a well maintained course. The greens are in great shape! They offer 18 holes of variety. I like playing here. Its an easy course with some challenging attributes. Theyve made some visual improvements recently adding tall fescue to every single hole. We play each tuesday in a league. I especially like the fully electric carts and concrete and asphalt pathways on every hole. Rates are inexpensive too.

Ok if you want a slow paced round of golf. The course was peppered with "older" not so "gentlemen" that do not know the meaning of pace of play, or letting other play through. Greens were in decent shape, yardages were oof according to my gps, so golfer beware.

Dont play here - it is a dump. They do nothing to maintain it - especially on the back 9 - they charge high scale prices for a bad layout and a poorly kept place - save your money and hit balls at the driving range - but NOT here!

Horrible staff. Was told by ranger I couldnt play ahead of a senior foursome (I was by myself and paring everyhole) because they are "regulars". Lost nation golf course is way better in every aspect. Dont waste your money here.

This place is a dump! I am amazed as to the amount of people that play this course and pay the high rates! So many better options within 20 miles! Stay away!
