I decided to visit AA even though there were so many negative reviews on here. I am writing this to explain how my visit went and maybe suggest people that wrote negatively should give this store another try. AA was relatively easy to find and sits in a large shopping mall. Going in the store was pleasing to the eye, the floors were clean and products neatly organized in an easy to understand way. I was almost afraid to go into the store after reading the reviews which claimed unsanitary conditions and dirty fish tanks. This could not be further from the truth. The place was immaculately clean. I examined every tank with a fish in it and each tank had clear water, no dirt or crud on the tanks and more importantly none of the unsanitary conditions that other people have described. I saw no dead fish in any tank and none that looked even slightly sick. Another major complaint was the customer service offered by the employees at AA. When I first entered the store I was met by an employee who greeted me and asked if I needed help. I explained what I was looking for and he pointed me in the right direction, mentioning that employees where floating to help anyone who needed it. I found what I was looking for, but had a few questions about it. As I was looking at the fish I was approached by another employee who helped me out. What I found especially appealing was the fact the employee told me point blank that this type of fish was not his specialty, but that he could get a specialist if I would wait just a minute. Within two minutes I had a "specialist" telling me everything about the fish in question and helping me wonderfully. This employee went out of the way to make sure all my needs were met and that I understand everything I needed to know about these particular fish. I decided to purchase the fish, and the employee package the fish up and took the time to add oxygen to the bags to ensure the fish would survive the drive home. The employees were exemplary at this location and I was definitely impressed with the knowledge and ability to meet my needs. Another major complaint was the price of various items compared to other pet stores. I tested 8 items from my local pet store and compared to AA. 4 of the items were the same price at both places. 2 of the items were more expensive at AA and one item was more expensive at my local pet store. I asked about their fish discount program, which gives you 25% off any fish in the store, and costs 10$ for a year. With this discount included only 1 item was more expensive at AA compared to my local store, and 7 out of 8 were less expensive. Please note I did not check the actual costs of aquariums, but prices on fish, food, plants and some other accessories. Overall my experience at this location was wonderful. The store was clean, organized well and the employees were helpful and knowledgeable. Perhaps all the people who left negative reviews should go back and check out the place again.

Please do not purchase from this store.....Read more to see why....I have traveled to this store all the way from the east side (Pataskala) two times before deciding to purchase a new aquarium. I was excited to show my daughter all the exotic fish and fancy fish tanks. She had money from Christmas and we decided to let her buy new fish as well as buy her a new aquarium. (An upgrade) After deciding which tank, fish, and other items, we priced everything to be over $200. We talked to a woman that worked there and she let us know that they didnt have anymore of the tanks that we wanted. She offered us the floor model. We checked it over and noticed a large scratch in the glass. We still wanted the tank and decided to ask a manager if we could get $10 off the tank. The manager told us no, because they could get their money back if they sent the tank back. There was another worker that was "off the clock." He seemed to be more of a manager that the other manager asked. This off the clock man came over and was very aggressive about not taking money off the tank. I tried to explain to him that we would be spending over $200 that day and that taking $10 off a tank would be better than losing a sale in the state of our economy. I even mentioned that we were from over 45 minutes away but would continue purchase items at the store. The man looked at me and said, "Off with you!" This is literally what he told me. He kept saying it over and over and basically pushed us out of the store. I let him know that I would be calling the corporate office and writing reviews and he yelled at me telling me he didnt care and to leave. I would like to add that I was with my daughter at the time. She cried because she had to put all her things back when the man pushed us out the door. I am a second grade teacher and I think even my second graders know that this is not good for business. I dont think this is a bad store, but I do think that they need to train their associates how to handle a customer. On another note, we went to the local chain pet store about 2 minutes away and got a better deal on a similar tank. This tank had everything included and we even got a glow LED light to go with it. Overall, this company lost out on about $300 as well as future purchases. Update: I decided to post this on their facebook page. They removed the post three times without ever commenting or sending me a message of apology. This is the second time Ive have poor customer service from them. In ten years, will they still be around? They wont be with bad customer service. Why would someone want to come there and spend twice as much, when they can go to a pet store down the road a few blocks and get a better deal. In this economy... every customer is important. I am saddened for how their company has been displayed.

Only certain customers welcome! Those with children should stay away! To say Im shocked is an understatement. I visited this store with my five children today. We walked in the stores and proceeded to the aquarium rock area. The children really wanted to see the fish. My children’s age range is 11 to 4, so I walked over with the kids to a safe area where they could see the fish. I asked my oldest, who is very responsible for her age, to watch the kids and they were all given clear instructions to "touch nothing". I walked a short distance away and back to the aquarium rock area. I could see the kids from my position as they moved around one of the displays in the store. I continued to look at rocks and then the kids. They were really behaving themselves. After the kids When the kids were out of sight for less than a minute or so, they all returned. My oldest told me that a man told them that they had to be with their parents. A short time later a tall man appeared, as if he was following them. I asked “What’s the problem”. He said, we just require that all children be with their parents. He then said, “We’ve had lots of broken aquariums.” I was offended by this and after being in the retail industry for over 12 years, I can tell you this is a big no-no form a customer service stand point. I just decided to let it go as no big deal and continued my shopping. About 10 minutes later, I was picking up my final selections. I had all five children at my side. My youngest was gently leaning against display fixture that firmly attached to the floor. The same employee came around and said to my daughter “Get down from there”. I replied with “Hey, don’t correct my children, I will do that. That is second time, you have done that. Don’t do it again.” He aggressively approached me and said, “I will address it if I see, it and if you don’t like it you can go.” I said then, “You can address me but don’t address them.” He then replied “I will do it how I do it, if you don’t like it you can leave.” I asked if he was manager, and he said HE WAS! I was shocked. We quickly left with our money still firmly in my wallet! I have never, never, never been treated like that. Very, very, very poor customer service. Keep in mind that my kids are very well behaved and were especially good this time around. They were excited to see the fish and were being very patient. Perhaps that is what upset me the most! Had my children been acting improperly or "bouncing off the walls", I could understand the managers concern but that simply was not the case. He just was very arrogant and obviously was ready to fight when challenged for correcting my children. I recommend that you never shop here! Makes you wonder what would happen if something was wrong with the product or you actually had a concern! WOW is all I can say!
