Had the time of my life visiting Long Island Aquarium on 8/3/17 , the Aquarium and exhibits itself was very amazing and interesting to see , all the staff and workers at this Aquarium were very welcoming and nice , the best part of the whole visit was the Shark Dive - what an amazingly incredible fun experience to go underwater, face to face with all those awesome sharks ,the Divemaster and guide were absolutely incredible in everything they did to make this experience once in a lifetime , I will definitely be returning again to do the shark Dive again because it was so amazing and definitely want to experience it again, I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a thrill seeking adventure/ experience!!! I was also able The get the whole shark Dive on video from the go pro that you can get as part of the shark Dive package !! And doing the shark Dive is very easy , its not like regular scuba diving where you need to use a regulator to breathe underwater , its a full face mask that you wear underwater and are able to breathe normally as you would and you could also communicate with the mask too , talking to the divemaster or guide/educator above while they are talking to you underwater about the shark and other underwater species swimming around the cage . The shark Dive at Long Island Aquarium was all together an amazing experience as well as the Aquarium itself and the sea lion show (definitely recommend as well) !!!! Thank you Long Island Aquarium and to all your staff for making my visit absolutely amazing and fun ! Great job!!!! If I could give this rating more than 5 stars I would give it 10 stars!!!!

I am writing this so you do not waste your money and time. Take my advice, If I could give this place 0 stars I would. First off when you walk in it smells overwhelmingly of mildew, they proceeded to tell us we did not know what we were talking about and the smell was fish. To continue, we went to the Snow monkey exhibit and witnessed the monkeys tearing off pieces of their swing and chewing it and swallowing the pieces of plastic, we brought this to their attention and again, I began by explaining that I was very concerned and that I am shaking from the things I witnessed and the depressing atmosphere, in which a "trainer" began to tell me she was shaking and upset too because I was wrong and I was making her upset. We spent about 20 minutes here, spent $19 and it was the WORST experience of my life, I asked for a refund and got denied. Do not waste your time, it was run down, tattered, and utterly depressing. I came here to have my spirits lifted, and walked out crying due to my experience. I truly wish I could fully explain the extent of how horrible this place is.

I came here on the perfect spring day not to sunny or cold. I do have to say entrance is a bit expensive kids are 22( includes butterfly exhibit and the sea lion show) they have a couple of rides inside and out 1 in and 1 out. And they do have a large selection of fish. They have an ice cream shop outside and a Game Center but some games were not working. The gift shop has a large selection of souvenirs but it is pricey. And they have an outside and inside eating area too, food consists of the classic American dishes (hot dogs, fries, pizza..) the only downside is parking it is about two block away from the actual museum. There is a shuttle but you have to wait and catch. It is a fun day to go with the kids and distract them .

If youre going to it thinking it will be a big place like the natural history museum in the city then youll be very disappointed. It took about an hour to walk around the entire place and see everything. Food court was subpar as my burger was burnt to a crisp. School cafeteria lunches are better. Overpriced too. The best parts of the entire place were the shark tank, feeding the stingrays, and the sea lion show. Everything else was tiny and barely present. If youre thinking about going, do this instead, take the train to nyc and go to a museum there. Itll cost you about the same price and youll get more for your money.

Children enjoy the place and they do conservation work. This is great because getting children interested in the natural world is more important than ever. However, one of the educators there, while talking about the penguins, referred to sharks as big and scary. Although this may be true it is also likely true that commenting in such a way while attempting to educate impressionable minds is a detriment to future conservation efforts. Perhaps this is just a fluke (pun intended), but perhaps also the educators can take a closer look at their commentary and make sure they are not causing unintentional harm.

My wife and I were staying in Southampton following a week long holiday in Manhattan (Were from Northern Ireland). We stopped off at this aquarium on one of our days touring the North Fork and Im very glad we did. My wife, who normally hates being dragged to museums etc., thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We spent around 2 hours exploring the various exhibits, learning from the employees and simply relaxing. Well worth a visit if youre in the area. I can only imagine the negative reviews are from people who a) expected too much or b) dont have any particular interest in sea life or animals.

Its a fun place to visit but small and pricey. Plus, their parking lots down the block charge $$$ during the peak/summer season, so between that and their cafeteria food, you better hit the ATM before getting there. If you know youll want to visit at least two times during the year, youre definitely better off purchasing an annual membership pass which includes food discounts (members are still charged full price for parking). I would skip the extra charge to visit the birds and butterflies exhibit, which I found disappointing. But the bottom line is that my kids love it there.

I brought to them a turtle who had been ran over by someone at my work complex. Even though they are a rescue they dont take wild turtles only sea turtles. The only reason they took the injured turtle wa as because there were people gathering to see what wa as happening. The lady from their foundation stated that they will take it and call a vet to pick him up. When I left, even though his shell was severely broken in one side and it was bleeding, the little turtle was still fighting and moving...hope that whomever they called were able to help the turtle

So many exhibits and so many different species of animals to see. I went for my birthday as they give you a free pass as long as its within a week of your birthday. I got there around 11, and took us til closing time to fully enjoy everything we could and see everything we could. Spent a lot of time feeding and touching the rays at the entrance, and the penguin encounter was pretty cool. Wish they let you touch the penguin more though. Butterfly room was amazing, bird section wasnt that great but I mainly went for the aquatic exhibits.

Good for very young children. Not very appealing to adults. Very few creatures to visit. The tanks were very foggy and the Sea Life were very dull. The octopus was gray and they only had one. The show of the sea lions was pathetic. The aquarium is fairly new but it looks like could use an overhaul big time. The Highlight for us was the butterfly sanctuary. The rest of the aquarium was very disappointing. It was a long trip it was expensive and it was very mediocre. The one in Brooklyn is far far superior
