I bought a weekend home in Highland 3 years ago and have played approximately 120 rounds at this course, almost entirely on the weekends. After a brutal winter in 2014 the course opened in April in fairly rough shape and it took almost a month until it was back to its "normal" fine playing conditions. You find a great number of Westchester and New Jersey golfers who play here regularly to enjoy a 4 hour round with beautiful views, terrific greens and wonderfully maintained fairways. The staff (both in the pro-shop and the starters) are friendly and welcoming and there is a great variation in the holes (doglegs, over water, elevation changes, etc. to make the round interesting and challenging. As to pace of play, I never had a round over 4:15 and have played in under 3 hours on a few lucky occasions. Although I generally play form the white tees, if you man-up and play from the tips, the course becomes a good challenge even for some of the big hitting members who I have had the pleasure of playing with this year. The greens are what makes this course fun to play and it takes more than a few rounds around the front 18 to begin to master them. The price for this course is fair given the first class maintenance and great pace of play. I have met some great "folks" here and look forward to next season at Apple Greens.

Im very surprised to see one person had negative comments about a ranger here. Ive played Apple Greens a number of times over more than 10 years and have always found everyone there very friendly and professional. I think the problem lies with the writer, not the staff. The last time I played Apple Greens, I left a wind shirt in the cart and someone from the course called me to let me know they had it. Thats pretty friendly and helpful! This course gets lots of play but somehow they keep it in great shape. The original 18 holes are in an old apple orchard and most balls that go past the rough are findable and with a decent punch shot youre back in play. The new nine holes, I think they call it the East course, is mountainous and offers more challenging holes - I hope they expand this to another 18 hole course. So I say go and have a good time!

This is my golf course of choice -- 27 holes of golf on a course dotted with apple trees. Great views, especially from the East Course, and fun friendly staff too. Rangers do move you along so everyone can have an enjoyable round and to insure a reasonable pace of play. All the best courses do that!

Played here for the first time , traveled an hour was not disappointed. Probably the nicest course Ive played in 30 years of playing the game . What a great time and all the apples we could eat ! Challenging, picturesque, and fun ! Do yourself a favor and check this place out !

The course is always well kept and the staff is top notch! The views and the scenery is an added bonus. I highly recommend Apple Greens to friends and clients and they always thank me for the recommendation. Enjoy!

Very nice course with scenic views. Unfortunately the staff is very unprofessional, had an unpleasant experience at apple greens with rude and confrontational rangers. Do not recommend!
