If I could rate less than 1 star I would. Just came back from a Winter Overnight with my cub scout pack, there were 4 packs in all for this sleepover. It snowed overnight and the temps were freezing, THEY SHUT OFF THE HEAT IN THE MUSEUM!!! When we went to bed it was very comfortable, maybe around 72 degrees. Then I noticed it started getting colder and colder. Eventually by 1am it was probably about 50 degrees in that hangar (the part of the museum you sleep in used to be a hangar). Let me tell you, I would not let my dog sleep in 50 degrees, I dont know how they get away with it. I didnt sleep the whole night. These people are cheap crooks, the city should slap them with a citation every time the temps drop below 65 and there are people, including many children, sleeping overnight in there. At 6:30am I grabbed our things and we ran out the door, they can keep their bagels and coffee. Save your time and money and pursue other ways your scouts can have fun and complete their electives and so forth.

Why this Museum does not hire real professionals for tour guides? The customers are humiliated by old and hostile "volunteers" who do not even know how to use the demo devices and do not have the required skills in working with people, especially with the children. You can see all this buncho of volunteers talking to each other at the main entrance. No one even listen to the customers. Why? Pay them or fire them all, Mr. Museum, because you astronomically charge $15/13/18 for nothing, probably to pay another buncho of cashiers and a gift store that closes much earlier than the museum, with a sleeping, unprofessional and hostile sales person? The Cradle of Aviation Museum should have a LOGO: "BE AWARE AF BAD AND UNPROFESSIONAL EMPLOYEES!!!"

Knowledgeable Docents, that is, volunteer tour guides make this Museum come alive! Each tour of the eight galleries are customized by the Docents, taking into account the age of the visitors, including children. You can learn as little or as much as you wish to about any of the exhibits and subjects represented by the exhibits. It is a good place to spend the entire day or just a short time, returning another day to see the exhibits that you did not see on that visit. Learn about the considerable history of Aviation that was and is a major part of the history of Long Island! They even have an actual Lunar Lander, that was part of the Apollo program! It is one of only two such spacecraft left in the world!

Ive been to a lot of aviation museums over the years (thanks dad!) and this one is up there with the best of them. Its very Long Island-centric as you would expect but the sheer amount of aircraft and the variation is very impressive. The staff are very helpful and insightful; willing to share information and have a chat. The thing I enjoyed the most was Just how close you can get to many of the exhibits - we were even let into a couple by the staff that were sealed off. You can touch many of the things there too. It has a gift shop that is reasonably priced, although not as varied as some and although I never tried it I am led to believe the cafe is rather good!

Not the easiest museum to reach from LIRR Westbury Station, and even more difficult to return due to transport issues - taxis dont stop there. But an interesting, if small museum. What it lacks in numbers of aircraft is made up for in the well-laid out display areas. It was great to see a Thunderbolt, Wildcat, F-14, A-10 and an Intruder among the exhibits. An unused lunar module, LM-13 is on display. Would have been an extra star if they had more exhibits. Ticket price on date was $15.

Это совершенно фантастический интерактивный музей! Ну где еще можно посидеть на пилотских местах в кабинах настоящих самолетов? Вот серьезно, стоит потратить время и добраться туда. Местные волонтеры-гиды знают об авиации все!

Great museum for adults and kids with any interest in planes, aviation or space. The Xride simulator was very good better than expected. In the dome theater we saw the "Sea Monsters" . The dome theater took a little getting used to. The first few minutes it was a little annoying, but once you adjust it was good. We sat on the side in the middle. I think the higher up you sit the better. Because the screen feels close and high up. I would definitely not sit up front.

I love this museum. Both for adults and children. Living on Long Island, it is amazing to learn of the history of aviation and how were at the beginnings of many things. From Mitchell Field and the right Brothers to Gruman building the Apollo Lunar Module which was first spacecraft to land on the moon. The volunteers are always interesting and knowledgeable. The IMAX theater films are worth it. You can spend 2.5 hours here if you see film and walk through all exhibits.

I never bring back my grandchildren to any place like this one, talking about the people take care outside the slide game, they TERRIBLE !!!! to talking and take care the children for a ride, the woman and the old man in charge dont accept our pass because they have a conflict why we pay a combo instead individual tickets and they demmonstrated very poor manners to treat the childrens, they dont deserve to work in a place like this one.

Museum Of Indifference. The Cashier will give you a bad face, that you will forget about visiting something there. She does not have the minimum manners and professionalism required for her job description. The Store located on the premises is closed long time before the Museum is closed. Do not worry, you can stay home all day long, the LI tax payers will collect for you a big fat paycheck. Win-Win... Is that fair?

Not worth the money as far as interactive exhibits. 95% were broken :( If you are interested in the history and want to see and read about it...great, but for the smaller kids who like the hands-on experience...HORRIBLE!!! Even the Kids Blast section was in poor condition. I would not recommend for anyone looking for a place to entertain their kids for the day.

I visited this museum today. A lot of the interactive displays do not work. This was disappointing, as the price tag is 15. 00 per adult. The museum needs to be updated big time. The floors are dingy, and so is the seating in the movie theater. A great, large space should be utilized better. Please update this museum. It could be so much better.

This museum is perfect for both kids and adults. I went with my 4 year old and 7 year old and a good time was had by all. There are plenty of hands on exhibits and things to sit in. Lots of interesting history will be discovered on a visit here. The food in the cafe was reasonably priced as were items in the gift shop. I will surely visit again.

It is a great museum for children and adults to learn about aviation and the history of flight. I personally learned a lot about flight, and it isnt extremely over priced. I would also like to add, the workers where very good in customer service. I would definitely come back. That is why I rate this a five star museum.
