I am writing to express my disappointment and dismay on how some of your staff members treated me and my family at the New York Hall of Science on 8/13/17. Your staff members practically yelled at us because my 4 year old was crying! How insensitive it is for your staff members to yell when a child is crying! Mind you my child is only 4 years old and I was trying my best to comfort her. I do not believe it is necessary to yell at me and my daughter simply because a young child is crying. Your staff member yelled: "SHHHHHH!!!!!!! THERES A DEMONSTRATION GOING ON!!!!!" I was outraged when the staff member yelled at my daughter for crying. I cannot believe that a NYSCI staff member would yell at a 4 year old for crying! How ridiculous is that?! Its funny how NYSCIs mission is to nurture generations of passionate learners. Clearly, this is not the case of nurturing. There was a group of staff members standing in front of the ladies/men restroom in front of "Connect World" when this occurred at around 2:30pm. I believe two staff members are supervisors and two cleaning ladies with brooms. The person that yelled at us was a supervisor. Instead of asking what NYSCI could do to make my child feel better, we were yelled at simply because my 4 year old was crying and that NYSCI do not want a crying child to disrupt a demonstration. What if the child has special needs?! This is how your staff treat special needs children? My children are not special needs, but I would be enraged if my special needs child was yelled at by a staff member during a meltdown. I know therapists do bring special needs children to NYSCI for their sensory therapies. I hope you would address this issue and retrain your staff members. I am very enraged that a supervisor yelled at a child! I would not expect this behavior from a upper level staff member. As a mother, I feel we were treated as a nuance rather than as guest members at NYSCI. How ironic that I also paid for a "Family Premium" membership at NYSCI with this treatment!

Well on my hall of science trip it was amazing so many cool things great for kids recommend more for schools and when you go with family it can be even more fun . I said "recommend for schools " is because it helps kids learn about the scientific learning ability. What I really mean is it help kids , adults , toddlers , even scientist learn. It has a dinning room . Which is beautiful . And a amazing gift shop which has scientific things like garbage grabbers to help clean up the earth , maps , test tube , Goggles , and lab coats . They also have things for kids to play with such as a flashlight , the bean boozle challenge , teddy bears , and pencils . They have many more thing scientific or not . They have a place where they sell food and drinks for a cheap price also ice cream . I bought a big carton of ice cream for 50 cents . This place is the best coming from me , my family , and all of my friends. And more people

This review is strictly for the current membership department. The museum itself is wonderful and membership with its reciprocity with other childrens/science museums makes the cost well worth it. However, this time around I am having severe issues with receiving my membership card. I paid my dues in February, and printed a temporary card with the confirmation email I received and brought the kids. Then months passed and I realized I never received my actual card so I followed up with a friendly email. No response. Since then, Ive called the museum about once a week for about 3 weeks, and have emailed membership twice more and have yet to receive any type of response from them, which I find very unprofessional. I was hoping to use the reciprocal program in another states science museum but because I did not have my card I had to pay full price.

I went to the NY Hall of Science expecting more than I got. The place is definitely geared towards children (K-12), and is lacking in the nerdier sides of science. I did have an enjoyable time overall, but the combination of large groups of kids running around, yelling and taking over ALL of the exhibits - even while someone else was using/viewing it - was enough to ruin the experience. Also, the level of the exhibits are geared towards the younger audience and therefore less interesting and exciting for older crowds. I would only recommend families with young children to visit since the price for an adult ticket feels almost wasted after you are done going through the whole place in an hour and a half.

I expected it to me more adult. Its for little kids. Very little kids. They have a lot of stuff there but most of it is interesting only for kindergartners or 1st-2nd graders. Im 25 i love science, so i expected some advanced things. But there were very little of those. Only 2 or 3. My brother is 11 and my sister is 9 and they were bored there too. There was very little outdoors. Mini golf was suppose to be interesting but all the holes were clogged with leaves and dirt. I was really exited about Teslas machines exhibit they have there, but only one machine was working. There wasnt anyone explaining and talking about the machines or Tesla himself. So I am disappointed.

A well kept secret, easily reachable by subway to Flushing. I took my grandson, aged 8, there the other day. I was delighted by the amount of information disseminated by video and other means and particularly liked how many participatory exhibits they had to illustrate various scientific facts and to keep young children entertained. We finished by going downstairs to the Happy City crafts place and making things out of paper, with add on little lights, which my grandson thought would make the city a happier place. There is also a really difficult but fun miniature golf course. The only downside - the food choices in the cafeteria for lunch

Built as part of the 1964 Worlds Fair, the New York Hall of Science is a popular destination. Visitors can go through a room of mirrors or a room that slants, try to balance on a surfboard, spin wheels, make bubbles, and even take a speed gun to their fastballs Among the permanent collection are Search for Life Beyond Earth, Realm of the Atom, World of Microbes, and Secret Life of Marvelous Molecules. Dont miss the Rocket Park Mini Golf Course, which reveals that the same laws of motion and gravity that guide the path of a spaceship also control the motion of golf balls here on Earth. *****

This is a perfect place to take your children. The explainers (the people who explain the exhibits) are very friendly and approachable, they know much more about the exhibits than what you can get from reading the description that comes with each exhibit alone. I highly recommend approaching the explainers to get a better experience. They also have a very unique playground that has a bunch of cool water exhibits and a spider-web. The museum changes a portion of its exhibits very couple of months so I recommend checking it out every month or so to see if they have new stuff.
