The Latimer House Museum is the best place to learn about this amazing inventor and civic leader. Latimer lived in this house, which was saved from demolition by local preservationists. Latimer, the son of a former slave, worked with both Alexander Graham Bell and Thomas Edison on a number of innovative technologies. As the inventor of the carbon filament, Latimer is credited with the development of the incandescent light bulb. The museum is open for tours and childrens programs throughout the year. There are exhibits on Latimer life and achievements. Check the website for business hours.

History lives here. The former home of scientist, inventor, engineer, musician and poet continues to engage the community in innovative ways. A tinkering studio allows children to explore robotics. Book & poetry readings are dynamic and eclectic.
