The owner was soooooo rude. They didnt even listen to the customers and never return or refund.... I bought 65gal tank set. It cost about $1200 then i set them up. But i found most stuffs are so cheap quality and i didnt really like the heater so i bought a batterquality and cheap one. Then i tried to return the old one to "Reef Encounter"but they really rude to me and refused to return it. They said i already use it so they can't sell it again to others. Of course they can't sell it... And the owner shouting and angry at me then they said to me "just get out here!" I was trying to buy some but they said they didn't wanna sell it to me and just kept saying "get out here" ANYWAY THEY ARE SOOOO RUDE AND THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO MANAGE THE BUSINESS.
<br/>I WILL NEVER GO TO THIS STORE AGAIN AND I DON'T RECOMMENDED THIS STORE TO ALL THE PEOPLE AROUND ME!!!

Besides being a dingy, run down, out of date fish store, Reef Encounters was one of the most awful experiences I have ever had with a store and customer service in general. After selling me a damaged fish and promising it was healthy, it died the following week. Not learning my lesson the first time, I went yet again and was convinced into buying another scratched up and damaged fish. Within less than 24 hours with the fish I had second thoughts and decided to return it. As most fish stores do, they will take it back without hesitation. Reef Encounters however, was disgustingly nasty, outlandishly rude, and astronomically disrespectful about the entire situation. Not only am I now stuck with a sickly fish, I completely understand why, Absolutely Fish, is doing so much better than they are.

We went to get our children their very first fish (ours too) and we were sold a 5gal tank to stock with 3 goldfish. One goldfish in the RE community tank had ich, and we were told "just not to buy that one." 1 week later we had an infestation of ich. First day of school Shiny died, third day Fluffeny died, and yesterday Goldeny died. The amount of time, and money trying to save them in addition to the emotional turmoil has been high.... RE knew there was a sick fish in the tank w ich and they know how contageous it is.... could have saved us a lot of tears if they were just honest and told us upfront the preventative measures we needed to take....

I cannot possibly believe how people can give a bad review. Either they know nothing about aquariums and/or fish. But I have never had any problems with the service or products, prices, etc.. Everyone is knowledgeable and ready to help, "teach you" in whatever your goal, question, whatever is. The owner, Mike is what I consider to be an expert in his field and will always help you and is basically an expert pro bono consultant. If you are a saltwater enthusiast or Cichlid lover, This is the place to go. And of course anything in between. I have both. I give 5 stars to Reef Encounter only because they do not allow 10!

Ive been shopping there for years. My mother had some red parrots and they caught ich, the guys at reef encounter not only sold us the medicine we needed but also explained why it happens and how to prevent it in the future. I recently got a pained turtle as a gift and one of the guys has been pretty helpful at answering my questions about it. I know there is one tall guy there who may not seem very nice but, hes cool. Anyone who wrote a bad review is probably a little sensitive because these guys are just straight forward about their work and they do know what they are talking about. so..booyaaa!

I went here for the first time and found it to be a nice looking store with a limited amount of coral (still enough to find something nice). However, I was disappointed in the staff. They seemed sort of bothered that I had questions or needed help deciding what to put into my tank. I just didnt get that one on one interested salesperson treatment. There are plenty of other shops around that will give you that. Even at checkout I felt the same thing. Decent stuff and pricing, but BOO to the customer service experience.

I have been coming here for years and have always found everyone very helpful and knowledgeable. Recently my nephew had been asking for his own aquarium, so last week I took him to Reef Encounter. They helped him pick out everything he would need and explained how to care for his new fish and equipment. They were really patient with him - my nephew had a million questions. Thank you Reef Encounter for making this experience with my nephew so enjoyable. He will remember it for years to come.

I shop Reef Encounter for my marine tank. Their selection varies, but I have always been able to find healthy livestock. They also stock tubing in many sizes and connectors and things that would be hard to find in a store. They are my go-to store for clean up crew like turbo snails, hermits. The coral selection isnt very good but works well for a beginner hobbyist. Nathan is knowledgeable, so is Nick but you should do your own research before buying.

Rude, rude rude. Its the only way to describe the owner. Thinks he is some kinda fish nazi. Refund, forget about it, all he cares about is money. I am amazed that the place is still in business. Although the selection of fish may be OK, there are other stores that will actually appreciate your business and not just think of you as "money". Would NEVER go there again. Wish I had read the rest of the reviews before going there myself.

Extremely rude ownership with 0 people skills. Inflated pricing with too much mark up, I understand it is a business but dont gouge people for every red cent. Forget about trying to return something there, impossible. One positive is the regular employees are pretty nice and some of them seem pretty informed but the management is very rude and only care about one thing...$$$

i would give this place 5 stars but after dealing with the trash owner I had to drop it to to three stars. I have never had an issue with the live stock or products from this store. The daily employees on the floor are great. On the other hand words cant describe how rude to the owner is. Taking a customer service course would do wonders for him.

I am a long-time reef and fish keeper that have went to this store on and off for a few years. They have great prices and alot of stuff, including decorations, books, and freshwater stuff that no one has anywhere else. I really like this store.

The prices were too high, the owner was very rude, the selection was limited. I wasted an hours drive to go to this store. If i lived within walking distance i would never go back. You should go to absolute fish in Clifton.

The store has a decent selection of fish but the owner is so rude. I have no idea how he stays in business with the way he conducts himself. There are better options where the management treats you like a human being .

This store is horrible. I bought a fish from them and it brought a horrible disease into my tank. I would never go back. GO to Absolute Fish or Fish Town USA...
