I have been going to tropiquarium for roughly four years now and have had mixed experiences there. Usually I get great service, but sometimes the service can be sub-par with only a brief "do you need anything?" The dry goods half of the store is very large and fairly priced. That being said I have only bought things such as algae scrapers and filter socks from this side and this occurs very occasionally. (I buy most of my dry goods online) I have bought both fresh and saltwater from trop and I do agree with most people saying that the freshwater tanks are generally pretty standard and are occasionally infected with ich but overall are pretty good. The plant selection is kind of small but it makes sense for the store is focused mainly on saltwater. Speaking of saltwater the saltwater fish stock is generally quite good and the only ailments I see with any regularity are torn fins and rarely inch, which are usually the yellow tangs that are prone to this. Almost all of my fish for my saltwater tanks over the years have been from here and they are generally healthy and survive. ( that is if you hand pick the best specimens and dont take the obviously harmed ones). The coral selection is one of the best around and they are all very healthy. This being said I feel as if the corals are overpriced and I generally order online or from other stores All this being said with aquarium care center opening across the street I have found myself taking most of my business there due to the amazing service and great prices. I still do go to trop (such as tonight) to buy my supplies and livestock. I feel as if tropiquarium has more fish than Acc but the corals are priced too high to compete. All things considered the two stores are completely different styles and cannot be directly compared. Overall tropiquaruim is a really good store and I think it is worth a trip.

Normally my experience with Tropiquarium is a great experience. I come to them for all my aquatic needs. But this last time is most likely going to be my last time. I bought an Angel fish the other day and the following day it was dead in my tank. I had to wait to return it so I kept it in the freezer till I got back from my trip. Now mind you I put this fish in a 60 gallon and purchased two other angel fish and they were fine. So I came to the store with my dead fish and they would not take the fish back cause I did no provide a water sample. I explained I did not know the return policy till I arrived at the store and reviewed my receipt. I explained I shopped here all the time and I spend a lot of money and never return anything and asked for an exception. The manager told me I put the policy on the receipt for a reason. And she made a comment about me driving 15 minutes to get to the store when she though it was an hour. The comments upset me but I stayed calm. I needed more barbs so I asked a male associate to help me. He said the other guy is already in there and pointed. I said he was in the middle of something. He and his manager then proceeded to tell me that he was not working. I accepted the other guy got my fish came back to the register minutes later and guess who it there to ring me up. The same person who was not working. Here are some examples of things I bought with the business, tanks, stands, discus, many other varieties of tropical fish. I have 60 gallon setups in almost every room in my house and I spend 3000-6000 every 6. Months. When I bring that water sample in and get my refund, I will take my business somewhere else.

AMAZING STORE! Just found out about this store over the summer and I absolutely love it! All the employees are super kind and knowledgable. The prices are great. I read a few of the reviews below and was taken back by one in particular (Tom). First, how dare anyone assume another person is a current or ex heroin addict? A few skeletons in your closet maybe? A way to make yourself better? Just dead wrong and its also slander! As far as be greeted at the door, do you want the red carpet treatment? And the selection of fish...Ive been in the store on a Monday and have learned that the selection was a bit low due to a sale they had that prior weekend. Ive also been in there towards the end of week, after a shipment and OMG the selection was GREAT! I think Tom may be a tad delusional, who would tell him they dont get a shipment of fish until the winter? Is that a joke? Do they fish for them themselves? Lol.The pond, where you can feed the fish. I personally have fed the fish, so have my children. The past few weeks they have had a sign up. So like a human being I asked one of the employees why the fish werent being fed. Its due to keeping the fish healthy and maintaining a quality pond. Its not going to be like that forever, things happen. I respect that theyre looking out for the health of those beautiful fish! So again, Ive been in the store more than a few times and have always had a great experience! I highly recommend it your in the fish aquarium hobby to check this store out. They also have great sales on the weekends!

If I could describe this store in one word, it would be NASTY. The first thing that hits you when you walk in is overwhelming humidity and the stench of dirty fish water and scum on the floor. If you can choke that down and move on, you will see some quite nice and well maintained saltwater displays. But that is where the "good" of this place ends. I walked into the tropical fish tanks and was appalled at how awful it was - the tanks were disgustingly dirty (algae, mulm, decaying plants, etc.) and most of the fish were very obviously sick - bolivian rams with ich, black skirt tetras with columnaris, saltwater fish with marine ich... there were no tanks that did not have either sick or dead fish in them. At first glance, their selection seems large, but it is a very poor selection of common fish you could get cheaper anywhere else. They also have no special selection as far as equipment/supplies goes - no ADA, Mr. Fish, Finnex, Seachem, etc. products that a specialty fish store really should have. Service was practically non existent. One fellow, leaning against the tanks, told me to let him know if I needed help and that was it. I walked out empty handed and nauseous. TL;DR: Dirty tanks, sick/dying/dead fish, overpriced, limited selection, poor service. Anyone who knows anything about the fishkeeping hobby, stay VERY far away from this place.

UPDATE: They are suppose to sell the fish out of the front tanks but choose not to since the fish are "Hard to catch" LMAO hats off to these clowns.. What a waste of time. I drove 45 minutes with high hopes to come here. When you come through the door you are not greeted but they do have 3 nice large tanks. and NO you can not feed the fish like others have posted.(a large sign says so) The nice salt, freshwater & pond tanks where the end to my delight. They had little to no fish. Less then a random petco. Minimal decor. 2 People were working. One older lady who seem angry and didnt seem to want to help anyone and one younger man who when i approached him did give me a few answers. (i felt bad for him because he was an obvious ex or current heroin addict) He told me they had a shipment of rocks coming in because they had none. He also told me that they do not get fish until the winter time. Their prices of Cichlids (which is why i came) where very high and i would rather had bought Walmart quality over what Tropiquarium was peddling. It was saddening to drive so far to see so little. BTW i also emailed them days before i ventured down to inquire about their cichlids. I never received an answer. Aside from one other man i was the only customer in the store. I can not imagine them being open much longer.
