I went to Howl at the Moon for the first time last night with a group of friends to celebrate one of their birthdays; I dont usually care for bars and clubs, but I ended up having a really amazing time, and Im so glad i went. There was a group of five taking turns doing the performing (Jason, Blonde Girl, Pirate Shirt Girl, Hilarious Black Guy, and Jack from Will & Grace), and they were all fantastic. "Jack" was my personal favorite, but they all really knew their stuff. I got there before 8, but was so entertained that I stayed until close. It sometimes took our bartender a while to get back with us, but it was Friday night and the place was crazy busy, so I couldnt really blame him. Plus, he was hot, so theres that. My drinks were only $5, so I dont know how anyone could complain about the prices. Bottom line? Im not interested in going anywhere else on a Friday night.

An establishment can show their true colors when something goes wrong, and this establishment did not shine brightly. After enjoying this establishment several times prior, when my husband and I headed here Easter weekend, we were sorely disappointed. To start with, after requesting a total of 4 songs, only 1 was played. At some point during the evening, I was struck along side the head and was told by management that there were no cameras in the place and the only thing he could do was to move his security guards closer to my table. When we decided to leave, I talked to him again, and he was unprofessional and walked off with my check telling me, hed "take care of it". I was charged for everything. Although the entertainment is great, I hope nothing goes wrong.

To our surpise, the wait staff was rigid, unaccomodating, and abrassive. Arriving early to get a table and to reserve a couple spots to sit for friends, we thought we were in the clear- until we were told a few tables that we had already sat in (and were not previously roped off) were taken! I am very excited to see new business develop in a downtown that has been basically dead for decades. It is unfortunate however, that a bar like Howl has happened to position itself in what is sure to be a premeire locale for 20-30 somethings looking to have a good time. Our group of 20 were all in agreement that we will never go back and make a point to strongly advise our other friends to do the same. Enter at your own risk...

My experience here was amazing. Its not often I get to hear my favorite songs from the 60s 70s and 80s sung live. Im 24 and love to hit the bars, but never get to hear my favorite music (I was born in the wrong era). Whoever it was playing this past Thursday (nov 20, 2014) played nearly every song I requested from artists like Bad Company, Journey, the Clash, and even the Ramones (yay!). It was a great time singing and dancing along. I wish we had something like this in Atlanta. Ill be back every time I visit Kansas City!

Pros: Great Music, Great Happy Hour 5-7 Fridays, free food, no cover, $2 drinks. (Boulevard isnt in the happy hour special, but does go on special after 7pm.) Cons: Cover charge every night, tip bathroom attendant, tip piano players, and drinks are expensive outside of happy hour. Ive been there 3-times and it is great, not much seating though because they allow groups to reserve seating. Also, come early gets very crowded after 9 PM.

Had a good time, lots of LOUD music - too loud maybe. But this is NOT dueling pianos and should not be advertised as such. Drinks are very weak, the scotch and water I had may have had the scotch bottle run by it, but thats about all the scotch it saw. Flavored shots might have a drop or two of alcohol in them, not much more. Stick with beer, its the best value.

This place Blows! The whole bar is run by a bunch of rednecked idiots who have no idea how to run a business. Security claimed that I spilled a drink on them and kicked me out without a chance to explain that I did not do it. I spoke to a manager and they did nothing about it. I will be following up with the Better Business Department. Dont waste your money here.

I went for a 21st birthday party, and in my opinion I think this bar is for the older crowd (Which is interesting considering it is in Power & Light which is typically filled with the younger crowd). It was "alright" but I do enjoy the dual piano players. That does make it fun.

Pretty good. Nice drink specials, could be stronger. Kind of disappointed that there was no food, could drink as much. We did enjoy ourselves thanks to that little Asian girl who was rocking out and the drummer guys that made the night. They get 3 of those starts.

This place is awful. My friend got a happy hour from them that was apparently for a location in another state?? They were not understanding and it was also her birthday. Horrible service at the door and afterwards awful environment. Would not reccomend.

Work held their holiday party here and it was awesome! The band was amazing! The specialty drink they made us was so good! They even sang a song about our company. Everyone in the office is still talking about the party.

Entertainment was great. But 9.25 per shot for anything was a crock. My wife and I barely drink and our tab was $90. 9.25 crown. 9.25 root beer shots. Ouch! Most expensive Ive ever had. These were single shots too

Went here for my sisters bachelorette party. Great place to entertain all ages. My aunts and older cousins had fun as well as the younger crowd. The show was incredible. Still talking about it!

The crowd, service, and players were great. It made for a very fun and entertaining night! Some of the entertainers need a little work, but for the most part they were great.

They have a great happy hour and a live band and you can give song request for them to play. Its a friendly environment and a social place to have drinks and free appetizers.

This has got to be the best piano bar in the USA! We make this our Friday night every visit we have to Kansas City. This is one that should be put on your bucket list.

Great service for a great price! Dueling pianos is such an amazing time. Annoying weekend advertisements from photographers, but experience is worth it.

Absolutely love this place, one of the most fun bars I have ever visited. Every year when I am in the area I make a point to visit at least one night

Ive never had so many sweaty people who bathed in calogne rubbing up against me in a single bar 3/5 because the men to women ratio was weird also.
