Got dragged along to a Riff Raff concert yesterday (Dec 3rd) by a friend. The doors and show were supposed to open at 8 p.m. but we were left out in the cold until ~8:20-8:30 p.m. After that, we were then "treated" to a self-proclaimed sixteen year old DJ who apparently only knew one of the knobs function (volume, which he sadly did not often use). After a set that lasted over an hour and had a remix "All the Single Ladies" as one of the penultimate songs, the DJ finally left. With that bout of torture endured, our hopes were crushed as ANOTHER DJ took the stage to run a set. In a group of five people (granted not the biggest statistical sample), none of us recall a DJ even being listed as an opening act. We actually gave up on the whole thing a little before 11:30 p.m. I understand that few band performances are completely on time, but three and a half hours after the opening is a little God damn ridiculous. Then again, I looked up Riff Raff on youtube this morning and perhaps it was better we never saw him. 1 star because Boulevard Harvest Dance Wheat Wine is pretty good.

Good bands, great bartenders serving good drinks at fair prices, fun intimate atmosphere. Sound quality is 50/50, sometimes great, sometimes not. I like that there are places to sit as I have back problems, but it is small and can be very cramped and uncomfortable when full, hard to get to the bar or vendors and drinks often knocked out of hands and all over just by trying to walk by due to the limited space. You cant turn around without bumping someone. Bathrooms rarely are in working condition, even for a bar scene. Staff is very nice and do the best they can with what they have to work with.

Small bar and music venue in what seems to be a pretty cool neighborhood. About half the venue is a bar space with a circular bar in the center, and the other half is standing room for watching live music. This area is elevated a step above the bar space, which would probably make it difficult for most people to see the stage if the main audience area is full. There were decent beers on tap and the service was Ok. The music sounded great, and the small stage and close quarters give performances an intimate feel. Id definitely go to another show here if the opportunity arises.

This is the place to be if you are into the underground in Kansas City. It would seem that most people dont know it is here. But if you catch the right band on the right night. You are in for a magical experience that you can get no where else in this city. They have the best beer selection in the city and the best bartenders around. You will see bands here that no place else will support. Rule of thumb for bands is simple....if you dont bring people dont expect to get paid. If people show up these guys will treat you right. Best sound! PERIOD

Tried two days before a concert to get tickets, it wouldnt let me enter Credit Card info. Then I called and no one answered. Called the next day at noon and no answer, called again in late afternoon. Went on line and the website stated it was sold out. What?! Took a chance to go and see Amanda Shires and there was plenty of tickets!. Amanda even said her friends couldnt get tickets. What a joke they are! If you are a top performer dont book here! Its BS!

Great beer selection. Great for very small bands, but horrible if your going to see a more popular one. The area out back has you sandwiched between the stage and a wall from an adjacent building. Its a sonic nightmare. The inside is better for small acts, but if its a sold out show its a tightly packed mess. If your like me and like to stay at the back sipping beer with room to breath then forget about "seeing" the artist thats playing.

Ridiculous! My daughter who is 3 days from being 21 called and ordered show tickets. She made it a point to call and make sure she could get in to the establishment as long as she didnt drink. The girl told her that there would be no problem. After driving 3 hours to k.c not only do they not let her in, they refuse to refund her ticket!! So besides being ripped off ticket money she had to make a 6 hour round trip drive for nothing.

Its a tiny little venue that can only hold about 250 people. Tickets are cheap and the bands that roll through here are often great. The beer selection is a lot better than a lot of other venues. Keep in mind youre at a music venue. If you cant stand being in the pit and getting shoved a little, stand in the back.

Typical crappy lovable music venue. Its dirty and small, but I love it. They have some great bands, and are always surprising. The staff is pretty rude, but I cant blame them-they have to deal with a lot of pretty horrible people. This is the kind of venue that you want your band to play their first show at.

Great, spacious little venue. My only complaint is the sound levels, Ive been to hundreds of shows, inside, outside, in basements etc... But this place my ears will ring for days if Im anywhere within 20 feet near the stage! And its hard to hear the singer and sound samples, because the music is to high!

Go elsewhere...Just went there and had horrible service. Paid $33 for 3 drinks that were the wrong drinks, told the bar tender and he got upset, made a smart remark under his breath, and ignored us... instead of correcting our order. Over price, rude, and unprofessional staff!

BANDS: DON'T PLAY HERE! We drove all the way from Columbia to play a show here, and had to wait till 2 am to find out we were leaving empty-handed. Staff were cool (esp. soundwoman Courtney), but owner dipped out early and made them give us the bad news. What a douche!

Fun little place to see bands close up. Stage is about 15" high and max occupancy is around 240 so its fairly intimate. There are almost 50 beers on tap and the staff is great. Would give it 5 stars if the stalls in the ladies bathroom would actually shut.

Everything you want it to be: Dark. Dingy. Poorly lit. Loud. Intimate. Black everywhere. Best metal spot in KC. Great beer selection at a wonderful round bar the instant you walk in the front door. Huge patio. So much to love about this place.

Came from a couple hours away for the Wo Fat show and had a ball. The bartenders were quick and very friendly and it was a cool old bar. Never seen a circular bar like that and the whole experience was great. Will definitely come back.
