I went here last night with a group of friends. They said they would have fire dancers and snake charmers from 9-11pm. We got there at 8:30 and there wasnt a soul to be found other than the staff. The only people that werent lounging around were the bartender near the entrance, the girl at the door, and the DJ. We sat down and got some drinks, and chatted until 9:00 came around and nothing had changed. My friend asked the DJ when the dancers and charmers would be starting and the DJ told him "They should start any time now." Any time indeed... We stuck around because my friend REALLY wanted to see the show but he was the only one who wanted to stay. Other people didnt show up until around 10:00 and we all sat around awkwardly until people started dancing closer to 11:00. Then, FINALLY at 11:30 the performers started. They were neat but spread out their short act (only a couple minutes for each performance) over an hour and a half by taking long breaks between. My other friend forced me onto the dance floor and while dancing I was grabbed, bumped, and groped constantly. Very uncomfortable. The only highlights of the night: I got to touch the big python the "snake charmer" had around his neck, and the bartender by the door (not the lady in the dance area) mixed some great drinks. Also, a fight broke out right next to us and by the time a bouncer showed up the people who started the fight had bolted and left two girls on the floor. The two girls as well as two guys who tried to do the bouncers job got kicked out while the girl who attacked them in the first place was left alone. And my favorite hat was stolen, seriously? Just dont go here unless you want to be sexually assaulted, robbed, and attacked. Yuck, I still feel like I have cooties.

Myself, and a group of friends came to bar fly on 1/27/2012 we bought VIP seating which came with bottle service. ($225) the waitress dropped off the bottle and juice. She was never to be seen again...untill of course the end of the night when she demanded her tip. She then came back to collect her $50 and was off again. I had asked her when she dropped the bottle off to come back because I wanted to buy my friend a birthday shot. Nope. She only returned to collect more money. That was not the best part though! When the night was over My purse and coat had been swiped. I talked to the bouncer and wanted to see the survelliance camera, he told me where my purse and coat were located, they had no cameras there.( conviently) Needless to say, I was thrown out with little to NO help. They did not offer to help me look, nor did they take any contact information (in the event the perp would return my belongings) Bar fly in my humble opinion, is somewhere I will NEVER be returning to EVER again. Unless, I feel like being robbed, ignored by the wait staff, and thrown out in the cold with no coat in the middle of winter, with no money or wallet for a cab home. Oh! and one more thing, If you are planning on going to bar fly for VIP seating you might want to bring your own ice, and juice... since the wait staff do not do much else, other than collect money, or perhaps Bar Fly would be willing to invest in a vending machine in their VIP seating so we could help ourselves. PS... bring nothing with you into Bar Fly, You might consider only wearing your birthday suit, so that way you wont be taken to the cleaners!

I think people that rate all of these clubs a one star have too high of expectations. Every club in Minneapolis has tons of people rating them one or two stars! If every club is rated like this Maybe you just do not know how to have a good time! Bring some chill friends to hang out with and maybe you would have a better time. Most of these clubs have good style and atmosphere and Staff, but everyone complains about the crowds, WE are the crowd. Maybe it is you that sucks. The problem with Minneapolis clubs, is not the clubs it is definatly the people- no one sticks to a club and supports it, they just look for the bigger, newer and better one. The club is hot for a moment, and then the next club comes in, and that one goes out. What the HELL?? Move to Vegas or L.A. if you want more action then Minneapolis, and quit complaining. I went out last night with my friends here and we had a great time! The drink specials were awesome. We went to five different bar/clubs before making it to barfly. None of the clubs had more then 10 people in them so we left, but Barfly had a crowd, so we stayed and took advantage of the drink specials. Go here if you are looking for a good crowd with a good mix of people on a wednesday. And its a great place to dance as well! And Bring your own Good time! No one can MAKE you have a good time, that part is up to you.

Many of the reviews here are obviously expecting something different than what Barfly offers. The Loft upstairs is for big dubstep shows, the recently opened Skyway Theater is trying out a hippie jam band kind of thing (think bands that would play at the cabooze), and Barfly proper is where 20-something ravers, festival kids, and bros come to get down four nights a week. Expect cheap drinks, a young crowd, and loud electronic. The bartenders are nice, theres 2-for-1s until 10:30-11:00 every night, and the crowd is friendly and down. If youre 18-30, and you like dancing or techno, give it a shot some Tuesday or Thursday (Amplitude and Switch, respectively). Youll have a great time and meet some cool people. Tuesday 10pm-2am Dubstep/Trap Thursday 9pm-2am Electro/D&B/Psy Friday 8pm-2am House/Electro Saturday 8pm-2am House/Electro

Worst night ever. What an uncontrolled mob last night with evidently no security guards around to handle it. Way too much pushing and shoving to enjoy the music. My friends and I could not wait to see the band Time Flies but the whole experience was like a bad dream. Not only did the band start two hours late, but we were crushed from every direction and witnessed others being completely knocked to the ground. We were more concerned about finding space to breathe, not getting injured, and just trying to get out of the place than actually having any fun. We blame the Bar Fly management (or lack there of) as much as we do the people attending. What a joke. Wish we could get our money back. We definitely will not be going back. I would rate them minus five stars if that was an option.

Im a regular here, I attend most Switchs on Thursdays, Amplitudes on Tuesdays, and spend most weekends here or in the loft. I understand bartenders arent "vending machines" as one told me the other night there, but he was very rude to me, and refused to give me a glass of water unless I gave him a dollar. Pretty sure theres a law against a bar denying a guest water.... and I cant bring in my own bottle, even if its empty. So rude, and still pretty pissed about it. Also had previous problems with this particular bartender. Nothing against the venue, I always have a blast here! Just wanted a stupid cup of water.
