GOLF EXPERIENCE REVIEW: I was invited to play here by a friend and checked out the reviews out of curiosity before hand, and felt that I should voice my opinion. The common theme I noticed was that reviewers were complaining that the staff was really rude. They must have gotten the message because when I went beginning of August 2013, the staff was super nice and courteous. It was my first time there and I arrived early to warm up, so I had all kind of questions about where to go and such and people were very friendly and helpful. It was an awesome day, and they had an outdoor BBQ grill going and I had maybe the best brat with kraut of my life. There was also a nice beer cart girl, who came by often enough to keep us satisfied. The price for a prime time Sunday afternoon was about average for the area ($45 2pm peak season with a cart). They have a driving range which is actually free with the purchase of a round which is cool. The range however is probably about 270 yards long, so they dont have tees and dont allow drivers. Still I dont know of any other courses who let you hit balls free around here. The course itself was well maintained, and is surrounded by some lakes and swamp land so had some very nice looking holes. The greens were in good condition and played pretty good speed, and average difficulty that day. In regards to length, I played the middle tees and I am a long hitter, and I considered the course pretty average in regard to difficulty, length, and width of fairways/targets. Good variety of hole shapes and lengths as well. Mix of doglegs and types of trouble to get into, not a typical public course with a bunch of straight holes next to each other. Definitely worth a play if you are in the area. Fairly priced and well maintained. Let me also stress that the staff was particularly nice to me (interacted with at least 8 employees) on my visit there. The one negative thing was that our round was pretty damn slow. It was however a Sunday afternoon 2pm tee time on what was probably the nicest day of the year. Was waiting on every shot on the front nine, and most of them on the back. About a 5.5-6 hour round that day, not sure if it is typical. As I said it may have been the nicest weather of the year after a big heat wave. I was enjoying the weather and drinking beer so I didnt care that day, though normally Id rather play a fast cow pasture than a 6 hour country club.

If you like no customer service than this is the place to go! Besides taking forever to ring up one person paying by cash to golf, this once great golf course does not even try to take care of their patrons. If your looking for a drink on the golf course while playing, do yourself a favor and pack it in. Oak management does not even try to accommodate any golfers after 5 pm or hot days. If youd like something to eat your best bet is Cs down the road because oak management does not offer food most days. The golf course is in good shape, a touch overpriced but enjoyable to play. Unfortunately the staff has no sense of hospitality as it shows from the top down. Its a shame because this used to be a jem.

Beautiful course but frequently over books the tee sheet ($$$) to the detriment of players and the pace of play. Booked a tee time on the weekend for 18 holes and was never told that there was an outing going on ahead of us. Took almost 3 hours to play 9 holes. When Golf Channel and others talk about "pace of play" and why the game is losing players because it takes so long to play 18 holes - this is a prime example of why. Courses like this trying to make the easy dollar rather than being upfront with guests about outings and not double booking the tee sheet to make a few extra bucks on a Sunday.

we play everywhere but this is our favorite golf club -- the course is perfect: challenging but fair enough, and always in awesome condition. and its by the lake and just beautiful. but the main thing is the atmosphere, which is professional and laid back at the same time; the vibe here is all about golf, the management knows what they are doing, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. wed say: dont come here because we want to keep bay pointe all to ourselves :) - todd and jingyu

A golf ball hit the top of my car as I drove by, and I stopped in to let them know. Was treated very poorly by staff. was told they are not responsible for any damages, even though it is clear that a golf ball hit my car. Staff at the pro shop told me that it isnt their problem and told me to get out! I asked to make a report and I did so, despite the staff treating me very poorly. I was told that none of the golfers would admit to hitting the ball that hit my car, so oh well.

Pace of play is extremely slow. Over 5 hours to ride 18, same pace as a much nicer walking only course. Course itself is great, greens always in good condition and its challenging enough for amateur golfers. Just be ready for a long round, pace of play is making this course almost unplayable.

This club was a high end establishment at one point. Then they got sold and became a public course. Most of the club house isnt used, and the locker rooms are a bit aged. The course itself has nice lake views but depending on the weather it can get very soggy.

I have been there for 2 separate weddings and I personally think it is a wonderful area with a beautiful view overlooking a lake. The staff were very pleasant and took care of everything. Well played and Id give it 3 under par, overall.

Course is always maintained except after rainy days but thats with any course. They make sure golfers keep pace in a timely manner. That views are beautiful. The staff is always pleasant. My favorite course from home. Thanks Danny Z.

A beautiful course with impeccable greens! Lowland wildlife with large ponds and waterfowl give it the feel of an "Up North" golf course. Challenging but forgiving off most tees. Recommend this to anyone who wants a change of pace.

Got hit by a golf ball while driving past the course, the ball came right in the open window smashing me in the hand. The club did nothing but tell me I had to find the golfer to cover it and basically hung up on me.
