This theater continuously disappoints me. They give off the impression they are entirely too worried about not making enough money (by cutting corners in service, availability and options) like the theater is somehow at risk. They have the monopoly right now. I wish they would instead focus on providing a great service and ensuring customers are happy so they keep coming back. What I want in my local movie theater is a laid back, clean, friendly environment with a variety of films and showtimes throughout the day. You wont get that here. They fail at everything but cleanliness. Many times the staff have come off as snobbish, annoyed, and unhelpful. Showtimes are at awkward time intervals with very few matinee options. They are sticklers about people putting their feet up on the bar; Ive been interrupted during a film multiple times to be told to put my feet down. (And it will probably keep happening because I am going to do it again. I want to be comfortable and I pick those seats for a reason; so I wont bother any of the other patrons.) Snack choices are pitiful and they are not laid back at all about bringing in outside food. Popcorn refills cost money and their popcorn is substandard. Their film options are quite limited, for example they didnt have showings of Snowpiercer or Veronica Mars. Their rewards program is set up in such a way that you can very easily miss out on rewards. After a certain number of visits their system will print out a free ticket which you cant use then (because you just bought your tickets) and you better not lose (because their system doesnt save that information). They have local businesses support the theater through pre-movie advertisements and charge something like $300 a month. And yet they dont have Thursday night releases because not enough people would show even though it doesnt seem like it wouldnt cost much and might work much better for some peoples schedules (me at least). They finally started offering specialty showings like kids day but it is much too early and not designed to be disability inclusive because the movie is still quite loud and the lights are off. Probably the worst atrocity in my opinion is the lack of an IMAX. Sure, they have a "big screen" but it isnt anywhere near IMAX quality and they dont even have 3D for their "big screen". I still cant believe they spent all that money to build a new theater and didnt decide to include an IMAX. Why? I just dont understand. I wish they would have chosen to forgo the incredibly expensive looking carpet and put that money towards an IMAX instead. All in all, I just wish the other theater hadnt closed. Options are a good thing but apparently Marquette isnt large enough to support two theaters. So, I will keep going back to Thomas because its the only one in Marquette and, though I make the 20 min trek to Country Village Cinema on occasion, it just isnt reasonable every time. The best thing I can say about Thomas Theatre is that there is no reason they have to stay terrible. They could get better, and maybe someday they will add an IMAX. An IMAX would go a long way for me to forgive the other wrongs.

What a wonderful experience the Soo Tribe Elder Christmas party had on Saturday Dec 17 2016. We had set a date that could not be changed and Jeff ONeil helped us through organizing a party for children and parents during the Star Wars opening at the theater. Living in the Upper peninsula, we know that the weather is a factor in our events. A winter storm prevented many from attending and some of our prepaid tickets were not used: Jeff allowed us to redeem for tickets to be used for one year, thank you His staff helped in so many ways that made this event excellent: move my car, carry in food, drink, gifts, and all that we needed for our party. So very impressed with all that these staffers did for us. Everyone helped with an attitude that we were the only ones that mattered. Although I do not have everyones name, a few are: Travis, Terry, Ashley and all the staff. Thank you so much. this could not have been as successful as it was without all of you. Blessing in this Christmas Holiday. Judi Daley, Chair and all the members of the Soo Tribe members of Unit 5 Marquette.

Went out for a date night. 15 minutes into the movie we walked out because all the movie did was cuss and swear every other word. I walked up to an associate to ask for either a future discount or movie tickets for another night. I NEVER asked for a refund but all he said was they cant do refunds just because I didnt like a movie. And he said that they were all out of tickets for a future night. How do you run out of tickets??? Lets just say beyond waste of money. Not happy. They didnt seem to care. Ive only walked out of a movie once before in another theatre in another state. They were understanding. This theatre was not at all. I dont think Ill be going back here again and I live right down the street! Your better off spending your money where people care about service.

I am hearing impaired and couldnt hear Wonder Woman. I was falling asleep after texting (top row, didnt disturb anyone). I got up the nerve to go down and ask if they could turn the back speakers up or fix it so I could hear the words being spoken so I could connect with the movie. They were very empathetic and compliant. Super friendly as you would expect yoopers to be. We love coming up from Escanaba and watching movies up here. Very clean too!

Its a theater. People here are blown away by it being new and clean, or looking very flashy and up to date. If they ever left town to a bigger city, theyd see its nothing special at all. They charge big city prices, though. Theyre unwilling to bring in movies that are good, but not Avengers style blockbusters. (Resurrection F, Birdman, Ect.) And that is very disappointing. Overall, its nothing more than what it is. Get gets a "Meh" out of 5.

The new theater building is absolutely amazing! The movie we saw had incredible digital picture quality and great sound. The seats were arranged in a cool tier style so all seats have a great view - the seats are very comfy too! The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. Prices are low compared to most other local theaters. I will definitely be returning and would recommend this theater as the first-stop place to see any movie!

I would rather go to ishpeming then go to Marquette for a "state of the art" theater experience. I have gone to multiple movies where they havent turned the sound on until all the people complained. And they didnt compensate us for that. Ive also gone where NONE of the seats were cleaned from the previous show. And then always being out of the candy. After the old theater got tore down they have just let the theater go downhill.

Beautiful theatre experience, but not good at bringing in movies such as "The Theory of Everything," the movie about "Alan Turing", "Birdman", and others. My wife and I looked forward to the new theater as the old theatre complex seldom brought in any thoughtful movies, movies that might require a few braincells to be activated. We expected more diversity from Thomas Theatres. Also; the popcorn is lousy.
