The venue is nice looking and the event went off without any major problems but the company seems like it wants to nickel and dime you to death. they constantly changed their policies on us during the course of planning our event and did not feel the need to contact us regarding these changes. we would go to a meeting only to find out how things have changed and have to deal with them at that point. the set up time stipulations are pretty dumb and if it wasnt for there not being an event the day before it would have been a major pain in the butt to set things up literally right before the wedding ceremony. something about working with them urked me the wrong way.

Audrey and the staff at Cheney Place are AWESOME! We hosted our 2014 Christmas Party there and the venue lent itself perfectly to our Roaring 20s theme. Audrey was attentive to our needs and always went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. The night of the party she was there and stayed the whole time. She was always happy to assist us in any needs we had. We would highly recommend this venue for a plethora of events. Dont let the outside deter you! Go inside and enjoy the warm and inviting atmosphere of the Cheney place and let the staff wow you!

The Cheney Place is by far one of my favorite venues in Grand Rapids to host corporate celebrations at! The staff is incredible to work with and beyond flexible with timing, new ideas, etc. On top of being able to use an amazingly unique and raw venue, Fancy Fray is in house to provide fabulous vintage furniture! Ben & Mindy are always a pleasure to work with, and on top of them running the Cheney Place and Fancy Fray, they are photographers! Talk about an all in one package! :) I highly recommend using The Cheney Place for your next event!

I had the honor of planning a styled shoot that we used the top floor of the Cheney for, and it turned out flawless! Its so open, we had use of the freight elevator to bring in all of our props and set, the staff was friendly, and went above and beyond to get us everything we needed, and the shoot went off without a hitch. Love! I would definitely recommend this space for any upcoming photo or video shoots you might have!

My cousin got married at The Cheney Place. Was a gorgeous renovated old factory with cool decor. Older chandeliers amongst vintage coaches and chairs gave it a really cozy atmosphere. Decent size dance floor with plenty of room of seating for I would guess around 300+ guests. It was 2 stories tall with a lounge and bar on the second story. First story was used as the reception area and then converted to the dinner hall.

We could not have asked for things to go any smoother on our wedding day, and we owe a lot of that feeling of ease to The Cheney Place. The atmosphere was beautiful and unique, the staff was incredibly flexible and helpful. They went above and beyond what we expected of them. We especially loved the open feel the space has. We had an excellent experience and would definitely recommend this venue!

What a great venue for our fundraising event! Audrey and the team were wonderful to work with and made sure to cover every detail with us. It was really helpful that they are willing to be the go-between with catering and bar service. They clearly have strong relationships with their vendors which shows! I highly recommend this venue for corporate/nonprofit events.

If you have the chance to have an event here, do it! Not only is the staff professional and proficient, but they are extremely personable. Throughout the planning process for my wedding, I felt at ease knowing I had someone on my side wanting the day to go just as well as I did. We were there for a wedding - wonderful setting and atmosphere. The staff was very good at getting people parked and seated, but the bar was understaffed for a good portion of the reception. Overall, though, a good time and experience.
