Love it, love it! Everything from the bad 70s carpet to the lighthouse motif designs to the stale smell of old cigarettes to the wooden pins and throwback vending machines! This place doesnt have to pretend it is a flashback to the yesteryear of bowling and leagues and when this was the king of amateur sports. This place is the same place it probably was back then and has not changed and you know what, who cares! It is great the way it is. From the outside it doesnt look like much, old brick building, no windows and you would never know it was a bowling alley. However once you step inside, it takes you back to a time when things were simpler, no iPhone, no internet, no text or email, etc. and another thing, its cash or check only. Dont try and compare this to Kings or Splitsville down the street since there is no comparison. Kings is the modernized bowling alley complete with booze and flashiness. Guess what, Kings and Splitsville also have crowds, a disorganized staff and are both small and you can barely get a lane (see my other reviews of both places). This place has 36 lanes some upstairs and some downstairs and it is all Candlepin (real wooden pins - typically New England) and even has raised bumpers for the kids and even a ball assist for littler kids. Plus the prices are cheap ($1 for shoes and $12 a game) and the staff is cool and helpful. Sure there was an occasional jam from the pinsetter and it held up the game a bit and the shoe rentals are old, but it didnt matter and was expected. This is an old place with old furnishings and old lanes and balls and seats even an old arcade etc. You come here to have fun and have a no stress game. I would highly recommend this place and not only that, I will be coming back every few weeks since this is a new fun place to bowl! You can even have birthday parties here and they have a special room and everything!

walking into the Norwood bowling alley, a local and supposedly "fun" place, my friends and I were looking to enjoy ourselves. Luckily my friends and I can ignore ignorant and rude people and still have a good time. After being rudely greated at the counter by an old woman with an awful haircut, she told our group to head downstairs. It was there that we found a single alley. However, to each alley only 6 people can play and there were 8 people in our group. This was when we went over to a booth where two alleys were open. Im not sure if this was against the rules of bowling curtesy but the old man at the desk downstairs surely thought so. He basically yelled at me, and made me feel very stupid. And then proceeded to call his boss downstairs. Both of them were extremely rude and treated as all like we were idiots. So I suggested we go to a different alley. This is when I was told that she "didnt like my attitude". At the least, if there was an option to give this alley 0 stars I would have. You dont attract customers by being miserable people. Thanks for time

I had brought my wife and two children to play some bumper bowling. Right from the start, the staff member (a middle-aged man) behind the counter was abrasive, being was short with my wife and generally very unhelpful answering any questions. We simply wanted to ask for a lane. I asked the man in question if we had done something to offend him, again, he was extremely abravise, telling us "I dont care if you bowl here". I told him there was no need to be rude, he then began to use explatives and became very angry. I reminded him that the whole place was full of children and his choice of words was less than tasteless. We left, in an effort to avoid a physical confrontation, which seemed to be the next step for this man. If I could give minus stars, I would.

I have been there twice with my grandsons 2 & 3 at the time. Both times there were women on the counter. My daughter in law and son went there once with my grandson the 2 year old and a "gentleman" and I use the term sarcastically was on the counter. He was extremely rude and told them the 2 year old was too young to bowl there! When my son said he had been there before. The man became very irrate and said he was the owner and no "2 year old" was going to bowl there!!

Service there is TERRIBLE. The two people who run the place are simply miserable. At one point the woman got so angry at us because we "didnt tell her we needed to two lanes" for our group of 8 people (even though we did) she slammed her hand on the desk like a little 4 year old. Do not go to this place. They are fun suckers.

Ive seen happier faces in a lobster tank. God forbid the old hag at the counter had to do her job and spray a pair of shoes down. Thats all you clowns do. Give out shoes and hand out a piece of paper and pencil. Needless to say I took my wife and kids out for pizza instead. Place sucks!!!!

The best bowling alley around. Also the hardest lanes, so dont be sad if you dont do well! I average probably 10 lower here than anywhere else, but its a great place, good crowd. And if you go at night, Johnny will be behind the counter, and he is THE MAN.

This place was such a great surprise. Nice old school candlepin bowling, no frills, no fancy extras, semi-automatic scoring. Great price for a family night out. The owner was a really nice guy too and told us some stories!

I bring my 4 and 3 year old boys 2 or 3 times a week. They work on counting, scoring, and of course bowling. The staff is always very nice, and now it is time to go bowling.

Great family atmosphere. I was in town visiting my wifes family. It was a nice little place to visit with my wife and play a little candle stick bowling
