This is the best course around for us public users in the downtown Silver Spring area! It has been around for over 50 years, though recently the course has been threatened by closure due to new owner (MCRA) having large management fees that have caused the course to go into the red over the last few years. Community support seems to be working, as county officials try to resolve the problem and the course remains open! I often play a round in the afternoons and weekends. Afternoons are usually pretty open for walkins, but weekends can be pretty busy in the mornings. The course is maintained supberly by the ground crew, although the sand traps dont drain well...which is good for me! The course is a nice ego builder, with relatively short par 4s (250-280 yds) and par 3s (130 - 160 yds), no par 5s though. Dont let the yardage fool you though, the fairways are somewhat narrow and trees often come into play at least with my game. Other hazards include geese and 10 to 20 deer that often roam the course. Try this place out! Ill bet you dont go back to Rock Creek Golf Course or battle the traffic to up county courses anymore!

This course has been vastly improved in the last two seasons. The greens are in great shape, the fairways well maintained. Unlike other 9 hole courses, this course is over 40 years old and was previously 18 holes, cut in half when the Beltway went in. That means the holes are more like an 18 hole course. The grounds are mature, the course well maintained. This is a great place to get 9 quickies in. The "facilities" are the only problem: needs a real club house and a nice bar overlooking number 9 to be a sweet hang. And we (the local community and the current course management) are working on that.

The location is great, and for a short course, it offers some interesting course management challenges. The greens are in good shape, generally. The fairways are off and on, ranging from good to not-so-good. As a beginner--particularly, as one who doesnt carry anything longer than a 6 iron--I like the shortness of the par 4s. But as a beginner, I sometimes lose a ton of balls in the creek and the high grass than runs between 4,5,6,7, & 8. The greens are big, though, as are the fairways. At $24 regularly, it costs too much for a non-spectacular public course.

Excellent course, excellent value. Great place to bring your son or daughter who is learning golf. I walk regularly and find the rolling hills to provide good exercise. The holes are long enough to lay a great drive. Inviting for the novice but has many obstacles to make it interesting. When you compare this course to other public courses in the area (Rock Creek Park), this is a true gem. Great Play, friendly staff and excellent value.

Sligo Creek has nicely maintained fairways and greens, though the rough is very challenging. It is a short par 34 nine hole course, but every par four is long enough to break out your driver. There are great wildlife opportunities here too- chipmunks, turtles, bullfrogs, and waterfowl abound! For only 30 dollars (with a cart!) you cant go wrong here.

I have only gone here to the purpose of playing foot golf but those experiences have been fantastic. The staff is incredibly friendly. The course itself (foot golf) is great, and the owner is adamant about making it even better. He seems to really care about the course in a way other golf courses dont towards foot golf.

2nd time I played Sligo and definitely the last. The "Marshall" did nothing to maintain the pace of play. The starter let 3 groups, all single player groups, go out back to back to back. My group of 2 payed behind these 3 yahoos all day. Ive never needed 3 hours to pay a very short 9 hole course. Never again!

Not the fanciest of golf courses around. But a great public course for those that take the game at a moderate pace. Good for beginners and intermediate level golfers. I would assume more experienced golfers wouldnt get much out of the course or may get frustrated with those not keeping up the pace of play.

Great course for some inexpensive fun golf and for children that are just learning. For those who think it is too slow, or not accommodating enough for the money they spent, you should stick with your regular tee time at Augusta and let the rest of us enjoy some golf.

Starter and Manager failed to remember this is supposed to accomodate FAMILY , which includes young children learning to play. Also no signs in clubhouse stating fees for playing. Nothing posted.Guess it depends if they like you.

Great 9hole course right off 495. U can actually see the beltways on #4. Great beginner course. Not a lot of hazards. Well kept and great price. Sunday 11am 9holes with pull cart 22 dollars. Not bad.

I enjoy this course! I go there every week in the summertime. The course is great because its short enough to walk but still challenging. You can easily get in a quick round of nine holes.

Course is fun to play unless your trying to use a cart and theres the slightest chance of wind they will not let you use them which is a little ridiculous

Went back to Sligo golf course today and the course looked great. The new superintendent is doing a great job. Dave looks great also. Nice job men.

Fairly nice 9-hole course. Lots of up and downs, with the creek bisecting the fairways. Some traffic noise from the nearby Beltway.
