Fantastic array of artisanal ciders, cysers (meads made with apples), meads, and partially fermented brandys. Everything is made with apples within 100 miles of the cider mill, and theres excellent tubing, biking, and hiking just around the corner. I should mention that these are English-style ciders - these are brutal and beautiful ciders; they are not sweet; taste nothing like Woodchuck or Angry Orchard. These are ciders built using recipes from the Revolutionary War era America. These ciders do not lean on sugar to make a palatable alcoholic drink - they kick down the flavor door. If you are unfamiliar with cider, or think of cider as silly variant of wine coolers - this is where things get fun and funky. The difference between hard old-style ciders and what modern Americans consider cider is similar to the difference between a hardcore Westcoast IPA and the beer you grew up with; Westcoast IPAs blow stouts, porters, lagers, and ales out of the water in terms of flavor, but they are not everyones idea of a good beer. These ciders are challenging and weird; closer to wine, olive oil, cheese, and IPA tastings than a casual applejuice+booze affair. The flavors are complex, strange, and contestible - you will argue about what is right and wrong with your friends preferences, and you will walk away with several bottles to prove youre right in a private tasting. We live in North Carolina right now, and weve purchased about 8 cases over the past 2 years. The place is stunning, and is run by wonderful people. See you out there.

THIS is a premier fall activity in the DC-Baltimore Metro Area. With nationally acclaimed ciders, Millstone is a must-visit. The tour is free and there are ample tastings following. Upstairs in the rustic, unfinished mill is a bar and outdoor patio for tasting. Kinderhook snacks are for sale or you can bring your own food. Bottles are for purchase and returning a bottle gives you a deposit on another bottle.

Lets start off with the obvious, this place is gorgeous. Old farmhouse in the woods, its beautiful. The tour was free, a lot of fun, and included a lot of samples. Ciders can be purchased to consume on premises and they have great seating with BYO food so you can have a wonderful picnic. Worth the drive if you like farmhouse ciders (these ciders are NOT sweet like the ones that you may be familiar with).

Cider here is expensive but some of the best Ive ever had. Take the tour and try a bunch, then get one for a special occasion. The Gingeroot is my favorite - age it for a few months if you want it drier as it will finish its bottle fermentation and round out a bit. Their building is a plus - theyve done an amazing job restoring an old grist mill.

Had an incredible time today at Millstone. Ive enjoyed every cider Ive had from them prior and was even more impressed with the offerings I had not tried yet. On top of that the place is absolutely gorgeous and rustic and the employees were incredibly knowledgeable, personable, and helpful. HUGE Millstone fan right here.

This place is amazing. The building is beautiful, the tasting room has an awesome atmosphere, and the people that run it are just the nicest. Plus the dog is super cute. Bring your own food, enjoy some awesome naturally barrel fermented cider and go home with a bottle or two. A must visit.

What a charming place! The cider is delicious and we went on a little tour that was so interesting. They are alcohol scientists! The place is gorgeous and I loved hanging out and trying a few ciders and learning about the process.
