So I finally came here for the first time and I made a reservation through OpenTable for 7:15PM on Saturday night (glad I did!). The wait time without a reservation was 50-55 minutes, which attests to this places popularity. In short, the food here is solid (though overpriced), great beer selection, fantastic service and atmosphere. What I ordered was as follows: Tex Mex Rolls (appetizer): Amazing. The chicken rolls and the avocado dip were just fantastic, though it was a rather small 4pc. serving. Chicken Tacos: The tacos were extremely bland and I didnt eat any more than 1 taco. Buffalo Chicken Flatbread: Though the flatbread was tasty, it was poorly put together. Its essentially a flatbread with some chicken tenders on top with cheese and a buffalo drizzle. Id expect the buffalo flavors to be better incorporated into the dish--it felt like an entree Id get at a low-end tavern, even if it was tasty. The atmosphere is busy in a good way. Lots of people but lots of space and a decent bar. Theres TVs everywhere which is nice and the outdoor patio looked awesome. So in sum, the food is good but not worth the price. Still, the service and atmosphere do help make up for that. 4/5

There isnt enough I can say about The Ale House. Superb customer service from the time you enter the door until you leave. The hostesses are outstanding. When is the last time hostesses went out of their way to acknowledge both guests and sincerely smile and say "hello and welcome". For me, its been awhile. These young girls are well trained and very appreciated. The waitstaff are KIND AND SMART. I really appreciate that!!! No one is running around like they cant wait to GTFO and be done with work for the night. The atmosphere is great, food is fantastic and I wont even go into the beer because...Ill end up gushing even more than I am now. I have been to this establishment three times now, and it is my favorite place in Maryland, hands down. Literally, the only con, something entirely out of the restaurants control, is the god-awful parking situation. GO and ENJOY. Your money and time are well worth it.

I have had great meals and great experiences at this restaurant, however, Sunday (9/15/13) was not one of them. We arrived at 11am when they opened, ready for a good brunch and pregame for football. Our table ordered french fries which were served luke warm, macaroni & cheese which was hot but bland, smoked salmon platter which was served on a generic bagel and was nothing to write home about, and the breakfast sandwich which while was pretty good, the fried green tomatoes needed seasoning and the home fries were luke warm, like the french fries. I will probably try this restaurant again for dinner or drinks, but will definitely not return that early in the day, since it seemed like the cooks need some time to wake up.

The food is great. We have had the mussels, flatbread, burgers, and shrimp, and everything is absolutely amazing. I couldnt begin to choose a favorite dish. My only complaints about the food is that its a bit pricey for what youre getting - I admit, its good, but the prices are such that I could justify coming to the place more frequently if the bill wasnt always as high as it was, since we frequently still leave hungry due to the smaller portions. I guess its the fine-dining portion of the place, but great weekly specials would really be a great addition. Overall, a great and much-needed addition to Columbia, particularly that side of Columbia, and a great overall experience for anyone!

At The Ale House, you can expect to find an atmosphere that suits most occasions. A wide selection of TVs hang from the walls of both the restaurant and bar areas, but the selection of beer is even larger. From porters to cask ales, The Ale House stocks a frequently rotating list of both bottled and draft beer.Complete with 3 separate bars and an outdoor patio, Ive been able to simply find a chair and sit. Securing one of the many booths for larger parties is also well worth the wait. The appetizers and entrees feature an upbeat pub-style with plenty of selection. If you are planning to go for happy hour, you had best get there early as this is the new place to relax in Columbia.

WHAT HAPPENED?!?! I use to love this place and even had my wedding rehearsal dinner here. It seems they have changed chefs and the food is no better than TGI Fridays. The fries were always seasoned perfect to the point of needing nothing extra. Now they are no different than McDonalds. The fish and chips were mediocre along with my sister-in-laws burger being bland and over cooked. Nothing was the same from just a month or two ago. Im extremely disappointed that they couldnt keep the food quality up. Their beer selection is still great, however. I will not be returning except for some beer with a gift card I have. You had a good run Ale House.

We went for brunch and sat at a high top at the bar. It took a minute or two to get menus but we were in no hurry and our server was great. Then we learned about the build your own bottomless bloody Mary bar, one of first times that I wished I liked bloody Marys. They had spices, toppings and more. But they also had different juices to build your own mimosa or Bellini, also bottomless. As for the food, it was your normal brunch go to. The egg Benedict was done very well. Soft muffin and running center just how I expect my poached eggs. Overall it was a great experience and I will definitely be back.

The Ale House is a nice upscale restaurant/bar. During the weekend and evening hours there is a valet service. Inside the decor is very modern if a bit dark. They also have a small outdoor seating area with decent shade and an outside bar. The food is not pricey, but its not cheap either. Everything I have tried has been very good. On Mondays they have a build your own burger special that is always very good with lots of options. Only downside is that parking can be a pain if the place is busy. Which is probably why they have valet service during those times.

Went there last night for the first time for our anniversary. Beer was okay, our waitress was wonderful, but sadly the food was sub par. I ordered the fish and chips, which being an ale house, I expected the wonderful beer battered fish, but it was just a flour breading and was nothing to write home about. Im a sucker for fish and chips.... not theirs. My husband had a crab cake sandwich with was BARELY brown at all. Didnt even look like it had hit the oven. He wasnt impressed with it either. Sadly, I dont think Ill be going back.

Had a really pleasant first experience here. Came on a Thursday night with a party of 7 with people and coming. Very laid back, awesome beer (and drink) selection, and was here for the late night happy hour special, $4 for all 16oz. Good soundtrack playing. If sports are your jam, plenty of TVs. Atmosphere was lively but not crazy, but dont know how common that is at this day and time. Got quieter by about 10:30. Would recommend! Oh, also got a free souvenir glass- totally worth it!

I have been coming to the ale house for several years, I am even in their mug club. Their service has always been excellent, however their recent menu changes have completely soured me on the restaurant. They used to use quality white meat chicken in their pasta but recently changed to cheap dark meat, which looks like worse than chicken mcnuggets, while charging the same amount for it. Unfortunately we will be looking for a new place to drunk craft beer and watch football on Sundays.
