This review is with a heavy heart . My son and I go here all the time to watch primarily new 1st week release movies on the Xtreme Screen . Normally it is an awesome experience I.E. Dolby Atmos Sound reclining seats and good snacks and drinks . The Xtreme Screen experience is a big plus in watching a Blockbuster Movie . Seems more immersive than a regular screen by far . Today I went to see Atomic Blonde playing on Xtreme Screen 3 . After 10mins in I went to complain to the manager that the movie does not fill the screen like at home when watching a movie with bars on top and bottom AKE aspect ratio does not match screen 2.35 instead of 1.85 . He saw the issue and tried to tell me that because its shot in Scope a.ke. 2.35 ratio thats why it looks like that if they fill the screen your feet would block the view . Hilarious I thought as other theatres at least have motorized curtains that are black and are adjusted accordingly top bottom and sides to frame the movie or mask the movie as some people call it . Even the GM seemed unapologetic like 90% of the movies are that way he said . Not true on the movies that are showed on the Xtreme Screen that my son and I have seen 25 or so did not look like what I saw today . NOT COOL ADVERTISING XTREME SCREEN when you get a letterbox style movie on TV not an immersiv experience. Very dissatisfied with the lack of concern from upper management. Not worth the extra $$$ unless I would have the ability like at home to zoom in a.k.e. change format to fill the screen . I dont know too many people that pay for a 65"+ screen tv and dont do that so the movie is more immersiv. For 40+ years broadcast tv would do that . Remember when before the movie would start it would say the format has been adjusted from original to fit your screen . If showing a movie on Xtreme Screen either only show 1.85 format movies or mask the 2.35 format or make aspect ratio adjustment to fill the screen. When Im paying for a big screen experience that is what I expect otherwise I would pay less and see the movie on regular screen . Summary if Im paying extra to see a movie shown on a 70x30 ( 2100 sq. Ft ) Screen and Im shown a movie at roughly 70x21 ( 1470 sg ft ) I feel cheated . Thats 30% less SCREEN for a premium price . Less for more does not sound like a goid deal to me . LOL

Let me start by saying that I love sitting in the recliners to watch a movie. It doesnt hurt that they also sell beer and wine. But thats all Xscape has going for it. Their website is bare bones and found to be lacking. Theres no good information about the different types theaters, (there are three different types there, but no explanation of what makes them different- except for the obvious when it comes to 3D. they all have different ticket prices). As a side note, if you get motion sick, do not sit in the front two rows--which we all know are horrible punishment seats for late people anyways, but be warned, you will feel nausated looking up at the screen from that angle. Purchasing tickets online was a JOKE! All they do is send you a confirmation email with a barcode. Im used to bigger cinemas accepting the bar code at the ticket gate, and thats what I expected with Xscape, especially since they didnt give ANY instructions that tell you to redeem your pass at the ticket counter. So I paid an extra 1.25 per person to buy online and I STILL had to stand in line to get our real tickets. And the popcorn there is gross. Weve given it a try each time and it never gets any better. But the recliners are nice. And well continue to go there. But Ill never buy tickets online again.

Watch where you sit-Went to movies tonight and was running a little late so it was already a little dark in theater and crowded so we didnt have much of a choice of seats. After the movie, my daughter pointed out that I had a large patch of gooey gum on the back of my pants. I mentioned it to one of the staff waiting to clean up after viewers but decided I should tell a manager also. I found a man in a shirt and tie and showed him the mess on my clothes. He was very distracted and was walking away from me as I spoke. He asked for clarification on where I sat and moved on. I was surprised and disappointed in the response by manager. There was no apology, no offer to clean my clothes, no compensation at all. The lack of concern and proper customer service was upsetting. They may be the busy new kid on the entertainment block but with that kind of attitude, they wont have customers recommending them or coming back.

I was disappointed in the on-line ticket purchase. I purchased the tickets and printed the clearly marked PRINT TICKETS. When arriving we were not able to enter the theatre on these tickets, but had to wait in the box office line and have them reprint tickets so we would be using the tickets they wanted us to use. Other theatres in town do not require you to wait in a box office line or waste your paper, ink and time. I guess they put all their money in the seats and could not maintain their website or the scanners in their theatre. The seats were nice for short legs but I the rest resulted in getting into the theater later than we anticipated resulting in a poor selection of seats. Nothing here to tempt me again except perhaps the actual time of the showing the movie I want to see to best fit my schedule. Just poor business practice...makes me wonder what else is not up to snuff that we cannot see.

This was probably the worst theater experience Ive had in a long time, if not ever. Personally I think all movie theater food is over priced but I get the business. $14.75 for 2 small hotdogs and 1 large drink is absurd. It took 20min to get those small items. The leather reclining experience is just "okay" to me and thats being generous. THE PARKING IS ATROCIOUS! I just left there this evening and people were parked along the construction fence which was creating a bottleneck in the traffic pattern. I will never understand why there is only 1 entrance / exit. People were almost wrecking trying to get out and no one was directing traffic...it took about 30min just to leave the parking lot. I think there are MANY other theaters you can visit and not have to waste money or time coming all the way to Blakenbaker for a mediocre experience. I for sure will never return.

Honestly, every other theater in the area pales by comparison. For roughly the same ticket price, you get a powered recliner to sit in with plenty of room for people to walk through the aisle in front of you without having to put your chair up. The theater has always been clean, and Ive had no issues at the ticket or concession counters. Additionally, I tend to only go to movies a few weeks after release during weekend matinees, so I havent had any crowd-related issues yet to determine how the theater handles those, but thats going to be a case-by-case basis issue anyway. Really, the only downside to this place is getting to it, as it can be a bit tricky. Otherwise, the only reason to go to another theater is because you cant get the showtime you want at Xscape.
