Another gem from my childhood. Only now they offer Adult series events. My fiance and I attended the Megabite event which was amazing. Local food vendors put up stands around the Science center and provide good sized samples of their best selling foods. The science center staff put on a show as they cooked foods with science. Liquid Nitrogen ice cream anyone? This was an annual event that only happens once per year (unfortunately) but I cant wait for the next year. The exhibits themselves are fun and amusing but extremely outdated. Much of the technology and amazement that lured me back in the 90s are still around today which is severely outdated. Many of the interactive science exhibits are now products that many people already own better versions of (think video game camera that detects your movement) in their own homes. Come on guys, need you all to invest in some serious upgrades.

I visited the Kentucky Science Center in January 2015 with my family. This science museum got it’s start as the “cabinet of curiosities” in Kentucky’s Public Library System in 1871. Today it’s one of the region’s leading centers for informal science education! Within the three levels of interactive exhibits we explored human health and the body, natural science, chemistry, physics and weather. We had fun watching my cousins kids play with the interactive children’s components. I saw one of the coolest things before I even stepped into the Kentucky Science Center – a giant parabolic reflector. You can see a mini version of this in your car’s headlights (it’s nowhere near as cool though).

Family trip with children ages 8, 10, & 13. Very disapointed. Quite costly for nothing to do. Bins of blocks, lego type items, and other random building items. Weird displays. Broken items. Nothing at all to do. Over $80 just to put your self inside a bubble or look at a bunch of random health displays. I have been to many science centers-most have actual hands on activities that are fun and exciting. This has nothing. We had more fun taking photos of the giant bat accross the street. I cant believe any one would ever make a return visit to this place. I have been to free public events that had more things to do. Huge waste of time & money. Kids were upset.

Located in the heart of downtown, this is a great place for families, field trips, birthday parties...even weddings. (The whole 4th floor can be rented out) They are always sure to update some of the exhibits but still hold true to the classics that have been there since I was a kid. The science center has a gift shop that can fit any size budget and there is also a Subway if you are a chaperone and forget to bring a lunch:). The best feature to be personally is the giant bubble exhibit that you can stand inside and make your own bubble. Also be sure to check out their Imax theater.

Now that the Titanic exhibit has ended, it looks like prices will go back down. When we went, I really enjoyed most of the exhibits (as an adult!) and even had fun playing around with the kids exhibits. IMAX is definitely worth seeing, that screen in HUGE! Their gift shop has fun things in it every once in a while that would make great gifts (look at the Organ Donor toys!) All in all, Id say this place does a great job at providing a fun, science-oriented experience (especially as a nonprofit in a tough economy!)

Customer service and hours are HORRIBlE!! Bought a membership on 4/2/15 and still cant get a permanent card.. I only spent $225 for a family membership to the science center and zoo. Left 3 messages and no return calls...EVER! And the zoo cant pull up the information in there system.. Next time I will find better things to do with my money. While they are at it.. they should have free parking for members... $5 to park and its not even that close. Sheez, they leave a lot to be desired.

This was a great kids interactive science museum. Most of the lower floor exhibits are fantastic and fun. However, the upper floors seem to be neglected. Many of them are severely dated or non-functioning. The one "program" we sat through about electricity was really great. The educator taught the kids about how electricity works, and he was super-enthusiastic and easy to listen to. Reasonably priced compared to similar places weve been.

Extremely impressed with how interactive and fun the exhibits were on the 1st and 2nd floor for the whole family. 3rd floor has been the same exhibit for like 5 years now? Staff was great. Went to Think Big IMAX, and the exhibitions mirrored the bridge project downtown, and the content of the movie. Which really impressed me, making it local - hometown visitor here. Looking forward to our season passes for here and the zoo!

This place was very over priced, and boring. Many of the exhibits were shut down and looked dilapidated. It was not a nice experience and was the most expensive museum we visited in Louisville. Will not go back unless they make some MAJOR renovations. We left feeling ripped-off for the $18/person we paid to visit the place for 3 hours. Do NOT visit this place if you are an adult without children!

Being from Indianapolis, every museum designed for kids will be compared to the Indianapolis Childrens Museum, fair or not. This place was just too much of a sensory overload. It seemed they were trying to cram too much stuff in too small an area. There were many missing pieces to exhibits which made for non-functional exhibits. It was fun for a short time, but probably too expensive for what it was.

It was very clean and we came during the discounted hours just trying to kill some time, so it didnt cost too much. However it was a huge disappointment. No where that we saw did it say it was just for kids. They really should rename it to "Kids Science Center of Kentucky." We were really just bored pretty much the whole time cause there where so many kids and no adult exhibits.

We had the best time today! Planned a trip to Louisville from Lexington for the zoo, but got rained out. We headed straight to the science center. Had a 1, 2, and 3 year old with us so we were nervous but they ALL 3 had a blast. Many activities for different age groups and many ways to stimulate all senses for children. We will definitely be back!

I was a volunteer here at Kentucky Science center back in 2004! I had a blast volunteering with the children and teaching them life skills! The children enjoyed the arts & crafts session in the kid zone room! I Loved giving children tours and helping them Learn about how science works it was just such a Lovely experience Volunteering there!!!!!

Most exhibits on 2nd and 3rd floors are old and broken. Several exhibits are dangerous. My son was hurt his hand on a spinning skeleton exhibit. The drunk driving simulator is a lawsuit waiting to happen. You could cut your finger off on the bottom of the seat. The new exhibits on the first floor are just recycled from previous exhibits.

I have visited several science museums, but I must admit this by far this has been the best. It has three floors of pure interaction and many employees in green vest to assist with any questions. Its a museum for all ages with many hours of fun. We also enjoyed a 3D movie of the Pacific. I highly recommend the Kentucky Science Museum.
