Location: On Main St., heart of Louisville, next to Louisville Slugger Museum, and a short walk to a viewing area of the Ohio River. Front Desk/Staff: Very helpful and polite. Rooms(233; 2 double bed): The rooms are spacious and have very tall ceilings. The room is equipped with a mini-bar(which we did not use), TV, which works well, and you can ask for your own mini-refrigerator, as the mini is sensitive and charge happy. The wifi works well too, they give you a password given on the back of the room key(which are RFID)holder. The room is well lighted and the fixtures are modern and sleek. The room is also modern, sleek, and good looking. The beds are soft, but not too soft, they still offer adequate support, they are also fantastic to sleep on, we all slept very well that night. Though I did notice a hole in our top sheet, not really a problem though, just an observation. However, in hotel this nice, staff may want to look into getting that layer replaced. The room is equipped with plenty of outlets, four at the desk, one USB at the night stand and likely extra behind. The closet is nice too, it has ironing equipment, hangers, a luggage grip, and even an umbrella, along with standard extra pillow and blanket. The bathroom is nice too, it has a two lights, on for regular usage, and then a black light/night light which is a sleeker alternative to the standard outlet nightlight. There is little counter space, but the rebound by adding a shelf above the vanity and a shelf below. The stand shower is nice as well, it has descent water pressure, not the best Ive seen, the hot water also takes about a minute to kick in, so be prepared to pre-warm your shower. Building: Most everywhere you go there is art of some form, and after looking in all the exhibits, I summarize it as strangely odd, but interesting. The building its self is very big, and well built, note the skylight on the basement level. Proof on Main: We had dinner here, and it was splendid, I had the Pork Chop, is just melts in your mouth, so delicious. I would also recommend the cookies and cream ice cream for dessert. Summary: I would recommend 21C to anyone because of its location, art, and fantastic building. You almost feel apart of the big city when you stay here, yet, you are most likely to be the most comfortable person in all of Louisville.

Very inappropriate for kids. Dont take your children here! I dont know if the art work changes but the current works are bordering pornographic. Ive been surrounded by art my whole life from Jasper Johns to Dali. We had a Dali in our home growing up as well as several Picasso lithographs. Taste is in the eye of the beholder but strategically placing it for shock value is something different. Life-sized statues of naked children with their private parts staring you in the face as you check in our out is what I would call forcing it down my throat. We were traveling with or seven-year old and a dog. They are a dog friendly hotel. If it wasnt for that I wouldve checked out as we checked in. Besides the art, the bar and restaurant are excellent. Bar has more inappropriate photos of naked men. I sense this is a rainbow friendly place - not that there is anything wrong with that. Just dont flash it in my face. Beds seemed clean but the white towels are discolored and mismatched. One was yellowish and all had lost their soft, plush texture. Lobby waterfall urinal was broken. I did give the hotel a 2 star because they accept dogs and would only recommend it to adults traveling without any children under the age of 21! I could never see myself returning.

I have stayed at 21c a few other times and loved every time but this experience was much different. I have booked a room early Valentines Day for me and my girlfriend to go stay in but because of car trouble and unforeseen circumstances I was both unable to make it into Louisville or even to call to cancel until about 3 hours before check out on the 15th. I contacted Priceline who agree to honor my payment and move it to the next day as long as it was okay with 21c. Now this would have cost the hotel no additional money they have rooms available and I was right there ready to check in but they denied me. The girl working the front desk check with the manager who said its their policy not to change reservations. So thank you 21c for being the least understanding you could be. Knew you had an opportunity to treat a customer exceptionally well and to make two people speak nothing but highly about you but now all I can say is you seem greedy and uncaring

My husband and I stayed there on our wedding night and it was the biggest disappointment of the whole night. When we got there, all we had was our wedding dress/tux on and nothing else with us. We had already called to set up the reservation (obviously) and given them our credit card number, but when we got there they insisted that they couldnt let us stay without an actual credit card to swipe (even though we had already talked to them on the phone about this and they said all they needed was the number). It was midnight on our wedding night, we are all dressed up and they were giving us a hard time. Then we got to the room and it was very small with a cork board behind the bed with an advertisement pinned to it. No art at all. Completely blah and unimpressive. Then we woke up to a $250 bill for our 6 hour stay in a drab hotel with nothing special to offer for our wedding night. It was a HUGE disappointment!!

We are big fans of the 21C in Louisville. 21C in Cincinnati holds promise, but last nights dinner was disappointing. Proof has a better menu and the selections at Metropole were more limited. We hope that Sunday brunch will extend to 2:00 since church is part of our Sunday morning routine. Something is missing in the Metropole. Perhaps a splash of color, wood or fabric would soften the authentic mosaic tiled floor. Well think twice before returning to 21 C for dinner in the near future. By the way, try and fix the wood burning oven. The fire alarms went off during our stay and fire crew showed up to make sure that things were ok. 21C has a great location and compliments the Contemporary Art Museum and Aronoff. Just consider my suggestions to ensure continued business and success. Thanks.

We stopped by to check out the museum part of 21c. The exhibits are split into a series of gallaries (rooms). And although this is probably more of a hotel than a museum, the artwork on display was varied and plentiful enough to make the visit worthwhile. Its not the kind of thing you would head specifically to downtown Louisville to see. But if youre there already and have a few minutes to kill, its certainly nice to be able to walk in and gaze at the art on display. The arwork may not be what some would consider family friendly. I believe the exhibits rotate fairly frequently, but our recent visit saw many containing nudity (sometimes explicitly combined with sexial suggestibility) of both men and women from children through adults in age.
