The sites are nice size and the field behind our site was a great place for the kids to play. The pool was clean and well run. Only complaint about the pool is they don’t allow coolers in the pool area, not even bottled water. This leaves you running back and forth to your car or cart to get a drink, small inconvenience. During the summer, get use to having to call the camp office, as the electricity tends to “brown out” quite a bit. Had this happen 3 times during our stay. Campground electrician told us that the main breakers kept tripping due to all of the A/C units running. Our major concern was security. We had around 12 kids in our group and we felt it wasn’t a safe place for kids. People drove on the camp roads really fast around 20-30 mph, and many were underage. There was also a couple times where kids drove mini bikes through sights and down the campgorund roads very fast. We had several people drive right through the field behind us at night with no headlights on. Even had adults take golf carts right through our site. I believe that the lack of security was the reason. This coupled with many folks that use the campground are equestrian types, and maybe they don’t understand campground etiquette. Even though I don’t think this is a matter of etiquette, but of common sense. We only saw one park ranger drive through the park the three days we stayed there. We were thinking of coming down again in the fall and perhaps trying to get our rally at the campground but I don’t think this is a safe place for kids to play. Sent a note to the manager a week after our visit and got a crappy form response, so I guess this isn’t a big concern to them. If you don’t have small children to worry about, then this is a nice campground close to the Bourbon Trail and many of the nice attractions in Lexington. Very flat and paved throughout.

We actually had the best day here. It was a beautiful park with a surprising variety of shows, exhibits, and museums. The demonstrations were all kid friendly and my 6 and 8 year old were in absolute awe of the beauty off all the horses we encountered. All of the staff was friendly and informative except one. The one that earned the low rating for our visit. There is an absolute wretched woman that works in the gift shop... (elderly, short brown hair, and a hateful attitude) she brought my 8 year old to tears today for the most ridiculous reason. We bought a horse webkinz at the shop, the packaging of the price and code was wrapped too tightly around the stuffed animals front leg, so when my daughter pulled off the tag its stuffing was a little off. This upset my daughter so I told her to just simply explain it to the store clerk and ask for a simple exchange. This was literally 45 seconds after our purchase. 45 seconds. This nasty clerk rolled her eyes and told my daughter that was "just too bad". I then stepped in and kindly explained that we were just asking for the same thing but with one thats packaging wasnt as tight. She sighs heavily and says "well Ill have to ask". I said "very well ask." She huffs and puffs all the way back to the employee area and all the way back to the front of the shop. Thankfully someone in the back room had some common sense and some basic decency and told this witch to just swap it out. Which she did begrudgingly. But good news is it kept me from further interaction and allowed my daughter to dry her eyes. Unfortunate that her horrible attitude and lack of tact ended our visit. To the gift shop owners...Id consider letting that one go. If you visit beware of the gift shop and enjoy the rest of the park.

Campground - What happened to customer service? My family and I have been staying at the campground over the last several years with excellent results. However, this year was totally different. There were two ladies working the counter. I gave them my registration confirmation at which time she didnt even look at it. She stated "Name" in a short curt voice. She then stated your early and someone may be on the site. I told her I was aware and that would not be a problem. They told my brother-in-law he was 15 minutes early and next time they would charge us for another day. Not friendly at all. In the past they would explain all the activities going on at the Horse Park and give us maps and other flyers. We were offered nothing. While setting our campers up another lady rode up in a golf cart and told us to put our permit on the post. She was told we were still setting up and it would be done. The next day a worker came to our site and checked permits. Instead of continuing down the road he drove his golf cart between our campers. Reluctantly, the next day we went back to the office for information on the Horse Park. The same two ladies were working and we explained that we didnt receive any information yesterday. They still did not offer anything. A young man that was working jumped forward and stated he would be happy to help us and retrieved everything we needed and explained it all. That young man was extremely polite and helpful. Hopefully this is not a trend of things to come since we enjoy visiting this campground every year. The Horse Park itself is always "Top Notch".

Loved this place it was on my bucket list to visit, trouble is that the handicapped parking was in a word non-existent. Oh there were spots but most if not all were not handicap vehicles. My husband and I were made to park at the bottom of a lot with HORSE TRAILERS.I am wheelchair bound and my husband had to push me and my chair up a hill until finally someone with a golf cart offered a ride to us. They really really need to do something about offering better parking it is a huge place and would have loved to have seen it all but I was so despondent over putting my husband through anymore with the chair that I told him I had seen enough and we didnt go back. FYI we were at Breyerfest and it was so cramped you could see some things but folks werent letting me through to see any of the models. I am working on strengthening my legs and getting a walker so maybe I can do better.

Same here as described in previous review. When came in to check in there were 2 attendants working and the girl was just acting very snobbish. The boy asked me if I am staying for some event and after repeatedly asking him what it was, the girl jumped in and just threw a paper and a pen at me and strictly ordered me to "read and initial on the bottom" and walked away. The boy did not answer the questions about the event, just plainly stated "you obviously are not here for it" without explaining it. Nobody offered any info on the Horse park and honestly after feeling very unwelcome I did not dare to ask. Hope the people at the park will be more willing to give information about what we can do at the park as it is our first time staying. Disappointed. Also for the prices and the popularity of the campground the sewer hookups should be available. Oh well.
