Came in for a cup of tea, stayed for the beignet. Sure it was no Cafe Du Monde. But the smell, taste, and messy sugary fingers were true to the New Orleans French Quarter theme. Bonus points for being a cafe that serves nice beers. Yum, Unibrue. And more bonus points for live music acts in the evening. The only negative is the tea I came in for. They used full coffee-temp hot water for green tea. So the cup was ruined. It was only bagged Mighty Leaf brand, so nothing impressive anyways. It shocks me that any shop who make fine caffeinated drinks and pays close attention to coffee beans, yet has no regard for where their tea comes from. Oh well, cant win them all right. Plus, it is South Bend after all.

Fun and quirky menu in an inviting atmosphere. The food is freshly made with high quality ingredients - New Orleans inspired food along with coffee and a full bar. My favorites are the Muffaletta and Crawfish Mac and Cheese. Beignets are also pretty good. The other attraction is the atmosphere, they have games nights, live music, science nights and more events that provide an opportunity for the community to gather. We enjoy the relaxed Sunday lunchtime atmosphere with live music (and a Bloody Mary Bar). We probably stop by once a week at least.

The people who work here are very kind and experienced. The food is fine, especially the soup bar in the winters. I would change two things: 1) the tables are arranged at all these crazy angles so you have to trip over everyone to get around and 2) the event calendar is never updated on their website or social media, so its a guess as to when anything is happening. Its Feb. 16 and they still have the Jan. calendar up on the website.

Absolutely love the atmosphere here, and the food is amazing. They are known for their beignets, gumbo and jambalaya. (Where else in South Bend can you find good Cajun food?) I especially love their caprese sandwich, and their house Bourbon St latte (made from a real Bourbon vanilla syrup that they make in house!). I highly recommend this place for people of all ages, both for the food and the laid back, family friendly atmosphere.

This place is a gem. Great coffee. The menu is devoted to knockoffs of a lot of great Nawlins standbys ... they succeed. I used to live in Louisiana and Ill eat the Chicorys muffulettas for breakfast, and their beignets any time of day. Crowd is always smart and friendly, chairs are numerous and comfortable, wifi is always free. Good for starting the day, slacking after university, or for a working lunch.

My preferred coffee place. Multiple times a week Im there in the morning. They pull an espresso shot rifht and make drinks as requested happily. The food is consistent and they make an effort to keep people interest. Live music at times, lots of seating. Meet a friend, get work done, or have a drink. Sunday blood Mary bar, beer and wine, but still family friendly.

Still awed by their service!!! Good service is hard to come by nowadays. I have been going to this restaurant for over a year now and I have NEVER had a bad service experience nor been serviced by someone without a smile. I just had an incident and the measures that they took to correct it were jaw-dropping! Not to mention, the food is GREAT!!! -- JANELL

This is a nice place to come and hang out. I think most of the food items are catered towards lunchtime, but it can make for a light dinner as well. I had the Cajun fish PoBoy, and it was very good. Lots of options for coffee and wines are also available. There are board games available and live music on certain evenings. Its a nice place to check out.

We visit the Chicory Cafe every time we come to South Bend--located in the revitalised strip in downtown South Bend, the Chicory Cafe is a locally owned and operated cafe, with custom flavors, handcrafted sandwiches and snacks, and friendly, personal service. Theyve recently expanded their space!..

Great spot for a quick lunch or to grab a coffee. I like it because I can sit down or take it to-go for my office in South Bend. A great place for meeting friends because people can order anything from just a drink to a full meal. I really enjoy the soups and trying different coffees.

Nothing authentic about this place. The PoBoys are typical mid west sub sandwiches that you can get next door at Jimmy Johns. Seriously, the owner should be ashamed of such mis-representation.The fabulous, soulful cuisine of New Orleans deserves much much much better representation!

Great food, great coffee, and great staff. Ive been here a couple hundred times over the past 3 years and on the very rare occasion there is a problem it is fixed quickly and with great professionalism from the staff. The expansion has made the place even more inviting and comfy.

Great warm environment! I was pleasantly surprised that they had expanded into the neighboring building since the last time I was there. And they have board games to play with friends. Great place to do remote work from as well. Its one of my goto places for working.

The food is great, really good baked mac ncheese, the coffee is good too. The shimp appetiser is...kh man. So damn good. I just dont really like the noise, and they seem to have musical guests alot. But its a great spot if you can have headphones in.

We all LOVED this place! Every sandwich was delicious and the mac-n-cheese was so good we got a second to-go and eat later! The staff was informative, friendly, and accommodating. AND build your own Bloody Mary!! Yes! This place was great!

Lovely food and usually good service. A nice cafe in a town with few restaurants of this type. The jambalaya and macaroni and cheese are their specialties! They also have good coffee drinks, beignets, and soups and sandwiches.

One of the few, true local coffee/cafe places in South Bend. The menu is highly varied in both food and drinks. Build your own Bloody Mary Sundays is a must and the rotating flavored coffee of the day is always delicious.

Solid coffee shop. The chai latte was good, if not a little too sweet but still good. I was pleasantly surprised by their beneights which were awesome. Cant go wrong with trivia night and half off wine too.

Favorite downtown spot for coffee and lunch. I so appreciate that all of their wonderful sandwiches can be prepared gluten free. Wonderful fun atmosphere. All of our out of town friends love to go to Chicory.

Honestly - this is the best lunch spot in downtown. The drinks are on point and both breakfast and lunch menus are delicious. Dont skip out on the egg poboy for a quick and quite filling hot lunch option.
