By blocking our off duty police officers at the door and not allowing them to attend your event I will never step foot in the Louisville Palace ever again. Our Police officers are never off duty, they are required to carry their weapon with them at all times in Jefferson County as are always on call and ready to respond to emergencies. While I know that there are reasonable gun policies that prevent John Q. Public from carrying in places like that, Local, State, and Federal Law enforcement should always be allowed to carry. VERY VERY Bad move... my family has enjoyed the movies in the summer and I have very good memories of this place. NOT ANYMORE. It is my sincere hope that you will make this good and reach out to those officers. Of all people you want in a place to protect the public, armed, trained Police officers who HAVE THE AUTHORITY to handle any disruptive situation are the last people I would expect to be turned away from the door.

Went to see Million Dollar Quartet (03/23/2016), an excellent play/musical! However, the theater itself needs to be better. My husband and I paid extra for the VIP Lounge. Actually, the ticket said it was for access to the Ovation bar where we would have hors doeuvres and be able to buy a drink. It turns out that anybody at all can get into the Ovation Lounge and there may be a VIP Lounge, but no one who works there seems to be aware of it! I eventually found someone who had some vague notion of the hors doeuvres, but who did not let me know quite what was going on. Basically, it was a total rip off. Also, the show did not start on time and there was no playbill, so we had no idea who was in the cast! The attitude of most of the employees seemed (to me) to be "so, who really cares?" Thats too bad as this is a lovely old theater but not a place I would suggest people go if they could possibly see their show any where else.

This is one of the last, remaining, grand theaters in Louisville. Though no longer a cinema, classic films are sometimes shown here. This theater is mostly used for performing arts. Whatever show or performance one sees here is a good value in my opinion because of the bonus opportunity to walk around this enchanting theater. On a first visit, be sure to walk around the foyer, lobby, and even the restroom. The seating was very well thought out. Ive heard many folks say theres not a bad seat in the house and I have to agree. When there is a series of films playing here, I usually take advantage because its an inexpensive and unique way to enjoy some of my favorite films. I usually like to sit in the balcony simply because, these days, its a rare treat to experience a film that way.

I had a wonderful time at this amazing Palace. I drove my younger sister down from Columbus Ohio for a Mossissey concert. Im not a fan, but I had a wonderful experience at the Louisville Palace Theater. The employees were great! My sister had mixed our tickets up - she had a second row seat in front of the stage. She hadnt found anyone to ride with so I drove her - she bought me a nosebleed seat. I ended up in front of the stage. They made me bring her down to prove the mix-up. I was about to make the long hike up to my seat when one of the ushers told me that I could sit in a seat that was near the stage where I could keep an eye on her. Now that was really nice - and unexpected!

Saw Brit Floyd here, who was amazing by the way. If youre a Pink Floyd fan they are a mist see. Not a huge venue which works well acoustically. Really pretty design inside. Staff was helpful and nice, bathrooms seemed clean. My only complaint had to do with cell phones. Several people were recording what seemed like the entire concert. One guy was facetiming during it. Its so distracting and annoying when my view is blocked by someones bright screen or phone being held in the air. If movie theaters can ban/limit cell phone use why cant music venues? I really hope this venue and others adopt more restrictive cell phone policies.

An amazing concert venue! Almost beyond description, the decor is phenomenal. The acoustics and sound are first rate. The staff is professional and courteous. I was blown away by the whole experience. I even had a chance to attend an event at the affiliated Mercury Ballroom. Why is this place not more famous outside of the Louisville area? I will be checking the schedule on a regular basis and will make the 8-hour drive before seeing an act closer. Oddly enough, the highlight of my experience was conversing with Jen at the box office. She is a ray of sunshine who was calm under the pressure of a busy work environment.

A beautiful old theater where we saw Steve Martin and Martin Short. The details in the woodwork and finish is something that cant be found in anything new. The seating is comfortable with the normal amount of individual space around you. There is also a very nice bar area with lots of people to wait on you. No lines or waiting. The only drawback was the tradeoff we all experience between getting into the theater quickly and the need for security and the metal detectors. Im from a small city and metal detectors was a new experience for me. The lighting and sound were fine. All in all a grand ole place.

I had the good fortune to see Bonnie Raitt last Saturday night at the Palace. She was outstanding as usual, as were the California Honey Drops. However, I was a little taken aback by the security out enforce for this event that drew and over 50 crowd. Our bags were searched at the door, we were scanned and wanded. Once the concert began, security walked up and down the aisles as if we were terrorists. At one point some people were dancing in the aisles, only to be surrounded by about 4 or 5 security guards.

Love these historic theaters! From the marquee to the decor and that permanent musty smell your reminded off all the people and great acts that have come and gone over the years. The stage is set in a way that gives the impression that your outside watching the performance under a night. Biggest complaint... Seats are a little tight. Cant imagine any larger folks being able to sit comfortably in those seats. The bar area is large and although overpriced... Drinks are well made and service was friendly.

Love the palace and always really enjoy their summer movie series but seriously cant believe they would charge $13 for a 24oz can of PBR! That exact beer is normally $1.50 at the grocery, of course will be higher at this type of venue but $13.00...Who does that?! Do yourself a favor and skip buying any drinks there. They dont advertise their drink prices and there is a reason why, dont be fooled like we were. Heard other patrons complaining about drink prices after show too. Really a shame.

We went to see Joe Walsh on 8/14/16 at the Palace. Joe was great, the sound was great.... but, the theater was POORLY air conditioned, and we were on the main floor orchestra section 3 row z. It was so disgustingly hot that my wife got nauseous and we had to leave early... For the prices of the tickets I would expect better treatment. Ill definitely avoid going here in the summer months to see a show.
