One of a set of nice hikes in the Dunes area. I took away one star due to the beginning of the hike that is a service road which leads you around the local steel mill. That aside, the rest of the hike winds through wooded land and is both beautiful and quiet. Two nearly 100 inclines on the long loop make for good exercise.

Starts really easy and gets MUCH harder going up and down the dunes. Beach is very clean. I would not go during the summer, much of it is bog and the mosquitos would be awful. We made the mistake of taking the trail going east from the parking lot. Make sure to walk west, back toward the road you come in on.

Nice place for a hike. Two area to and from the lake are somewhat steep. I went there in March. No bugs. Not sure what summer would be like as far as bugs. No bathrooms or water. Parking lot does have a porta potty. So bring your own water and food.

Took the family, we all had a great time!! Besides the crazy amount of mosquitos first thing in the morning it was a great time. We are planning to do the other trails at the Dunes in the near future!!
