The plantation is beautiful and the employees really get into their roles, dressing in authentic clothing (the females were even wearing hoop skirts and corsets!) and making one really feel as though they had stepped back in time. The admission fee is worth it as there is a lot to see on the grounds and the tour is very interesting. The tour guides take the time to explain everything they know about the history of the place, and they allow tourists to ask all the questions they want, never rushing anyone along. The reason that I only gave it a three-star rating is because I was disappointed in the photography policy. I expected that no filming or flash photography would be allowed during the tour, but tourists are not allowed to take ANY photos inside the mansion. The tour guide said that this policy is because of "security reasons," but I really do not understand how snapping a couple of pictures on my cell phone would have jeopardized their security. If security really is such an issue, they should pay more attention to the tourists. There was a couple that started on the tour with us and they were increasingly showing more and more PDA (personal displays of affection, such as kissing, touching, etc) as we walked through the first couple of rooms, then they disappeared. Had they gone in the direction of the exit, the entire tour group would have seen them. My sister and I joked later on that they had gone to find a closet in which to get intimate. So photography is not allowed, but sneaking away from the tour group apparently is. The grounds were absolutely beautiful and the history was fascinating, but the no photograph rule was extremely disappointing to me. At the very least, tourists could be warned of the photo policy BEFORE purchasing tickets for the tour.

They have a very impressive gift shop with reasonable prices. Our tout guide was very knowledgable. She was hit with a few odd questions that I wouldnt expect her to know the answer to, but she knew everything about the house, inside and out and about the people that lived there. The only reason Im giving it a 4 stars is because I didnt care for the fellow at the wine tasting room. He was very nice and knowledgable about their wines but the technique was wrong. Im not an expert, but i do know that when you go to a wine tasting, youre supposed to open a new bottle of wine for the new group coming in and you should also have a different glass for each of the wines youre tasting. He was also presenting them too fast. I had to chug down each glass if I wanted to try all of then. It was hard to determine which wine I liked because I didnt have time to appreciate the flavors. We were looking forward to having a meal, but little did we know that they closed at 2pm. That was disappointing. Overall, I do recommend anyone thats visiting Nashville to visit.

Belle Meade Plantation was everything I dreamed of for my wedding venue! It was the only place we actually toured and I fell in love instantly! The garden where we had our ceremony is private, intimate, and needed little decoration because of how naturally beautiful it was. The carriage house is perfect for the "southern belle" wedding I always wanted. Its spacious, versatile and rich in southern history. We used the entire grounds for our pictures; we have a wide variety of backgrounds since every area at Belle Meade Plantation is well kept and beautiful. Linda is enthusiastic, eager to help, and easy to get in touch with. I planned our wedding myself, and she was an excellent resource when I had questions or concerns. I still receive the highest compliments about the venue.. many of my friends said it was the best of the year!! I would chose Belle Meade Plantation for my wedding venue every time!

When you think of a "mansion," what comes to mind? Gaudy opulence? A cookie-cutter McMansion? A Frank Lloyd Wright monstrosity? Well Im happy to say none of the above apply to Belle Meade, a large plantation with a mansion as its centerpiece. The interior is awash with class and history. Actually, the exterior has a history of its own too, as the Civil War bullet holes will tell. The tour is well-run and informative, plus guests have a degree of freedom to roam the grounds and explore the slave quarters and other outbuildings. In addition to the expansive gift shoppes, theres an onsite winery. You really cant lose! Especially if youre from the area, you should stop by to learn just how integrated the former owners of Belle Meade were to the community.

I got the mansion tour. Wandered around on a very open, very relaxing pathway as the tour was starting. Jake (not sure of that is his name, but he had a wicked stache and was punny) started by laying some ground rules to which some elderly lady did not follow (shame on her). Jake was a great tour guide, very funny, and answered every question we threw at him. He was super knowledgeable! After the tour we took part in the local libations. I really wish there were more than three wines to be tasted. Also, that gift shop had more gems than the main gift shop. Though the items at both shops were a little pricey. I did not know there is a series of romance novels set at this plantation. I shall look for audio books of these to pass on as gifts.

After traveling on vacation nearly 2,500 miles we were delighted to make it to this beautiful well preserved picturesque place. Unfortunately, we arrive just after 4 pm their last scheduled tour we were so saddened to potentially miss this national treasure. As we were turned away by the ticket folks. In comes Robert Cross and in his words, "I cant have this folks come with me". Off we went on a personal guided tour. A true southern gentleman in every sense of the word. Passionate about his job and a world of knowledge about the history of the place. Thank You Mr. Cross for your Hospitality it will always be treasured by our family. .

What a wonderful spot! We were in town for a day on the way to Gulf Shores. We did the Segway tour of the grounds--Hannah was a very patient, knowledgeable tour guide with a great sense of humor. We learned a lot! The gift shop was beautiful with very reasonable prices. The wine tasting was delicious ans "unfussy"...the blackberry dessert wine was delightful. We ate at the restaurant on-site. Delicious food with (again) reasonable prices. I wish we would have had time for the mansion tour. I would recommend Belle Meade to anyone visiting Nashville!

We went to a wedding at Belle Meade Plantation on August 12th. The views, play area, venue, the walking trails, and the catering was superb!! Well done BMP!! We did have an issue however-the bald headed valet (manager?) gave us incorrect change on purpose, it seems. My husband noticed this and wanted you to be aware for your protection. I also noticed he was rude and unkind towards the younger valets-they were doing a fine job and that is not okay with me! Otherwise, Belle Meade Plantation is a beautiful memorable place! Thank you.
