We stayed here the previous weekend and things went okay, which is why we re-booked for this weekend. This was an anniversary weekend away. Upon check-in we requested to be placed in the same area (floor/side) as last weekend but were denied and told the room we were being placed in was really nice. Upon entering the room, the temperature was about 80 degrees. We turned down the thermostat and turned up the fan. You cannot change the temp from hot to cold, only adjust the fan from low to high and change the thermostat. We found out the hard way that this does nothing. If the building has the heat on then you get heat blowing low or high. We went out for dinner and came back late to find the room still very hot. We opened the window thinking the temp will drop at night and cool down the room, plus it was very late to call maintenance and we wanted to go to bed. We had to close the window because the traffic noise on this side was very loud (there is a hospital nearby so you hear ambulance sirens going off). The cigarette smoke from the people outside started coming into the room too. Once the window was closed, the room heated up again even with the fan turned to high and the thermostat turned down as far as it would go (60 degrees). Therefore, I only had about 3 hours of sleep that night because it was so ungodly hot. Upon checkout, I let the front desk know of the problems and discomfort we experienced. The gentleman at the front desk was not sympathetic or helpful at all. He told me that the room we were in was in an older wing of the hotel and there is nothing they can do about it. When we told him we had no trouble before and asked to be placed in a different area but were denied at check-in, he just blew us off. He said he would pass my concerns on to his manager and he/she would call me back that day. No one called. I called back the next morning to follow up and was put on hold for over 10 minutes, switched around 3 times and put back into the queue for the main number. No one even came back on the line to say what was going on, they just left me on hold and pushed me back to the operator. A manager has never reached out to me. I have stayed at moderate hotels as well as higher end hotels and this is the worst customer service I have ever received, which is surprising for a higher end hotel. I will not stay here ever again. I can understand issues when temperatures change outside and that you cannot control everything but at least care and try to resolve the issue. They just want to get you away from the front desk and make false promises about contacting you. I think they place people who book from a 3rd party in an older part of the hotel and then treat you like your concerns dont matter. There are much nicer hotels out there with much better customer service and I will stay there and recommend them, but not this hotel. Doubletree is a double disappointment.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about having our wedding at the Doubletree and I don’t know where to even begin. Of course your venue is one of the most important things when planning a wedding but part of it that many people don’t consider is the person that will be in charge of organizing your day. Molly, Director of catering was the greatest person I could ask for when planning and organizing our wedding. She thinks of everything big and small. She replies to emails quickly, even when it’s a small and ridiculous question, what do the cocktail glasses look like, tall or short? Whatever we asked for she did it or got it. As the planning was happening, Molly was happy to speak directly to flowers and the DJ to answer any questions that they had and helped organize things for my day. I had brought in a lot of miscellaneous wedding décor the day before and she was happy to have it all put up exactly where I wanted. The day of, Molly made sure that with everyone coming in and out (DJ, flowers, photo booth, white dance floor, chairs, linen, ice sculpture) that it went in the perfect spot and everyone working for our wedding was taken care of. She made sure I was taken care of along with the bridal party, she was always insight or could be easily reached when we needed her. She has truly made our wedding experience awesome and effortless. Molly and the team went above and beyond just to make sure everything was perfect. The most important thing is that Molly did all of this with passion and care. The venue setting was beautiful. It was on the top floor with floor to ceiling windows on three sides of the wall. The view is gorgeous with the Chicago skyline on one side. You have the entire floor to yourself so guest can go into the foyer area and sit on the couches. You also have your own bathroom so that you are not sharing with the hotel guest, you even have your own elevator that takes you directly to the top floor to the first floor. For dinner, we had the duet plate with the filet and crusted Tilapia along with the gnocchi. We received so many compliments about the food and how good it was. Everything came out on time and was perfectly paced. Lets just say none of our guests went home hungry. The bartenders were amazing with always a smile on their face and seemed to be having a great time. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. As the night went on Molly and the team made sure all of our personal stuff that we had brought (Champaign glasses, cake and knife) were put away in the back for us to pick up in the morning. I could go on and on about how great Molly and the Doubletree are. We continue to receive compliments from our guest about how great everything was and how much fun they had. A lot of the credit goes to Molly and the Doubletree team. Thank you for everything!

My stay at the DoubleTree Hilton was the worst experience Ive ever had at a hotel. I have stayed in a fair share of hotels because my family lives all over the country, and this hotel was by far THE worst experience Ive had. My first impression was that the lobby was well-kept and modern, it was when I arrived in my room that I realized how dingy and drab everything really was. The hotel hallways were dark and dull and had little to no artwork on the walls (you never notice how important and classy artwork is until its not there), which is unfortunate because it could have been used as a distraction from the stained carpet. Upon entering my room I noticed that it was rushed to be put together; the pillows were sloppily thrown on the beds (I had a room with two full size beds, both which looked awful), the curtains were halfway drawn, and the bathroom amenities were in disarray. I noticed upon further inspection that the provided sheets and blankets had blatant stains on them (really, its a Hilton hotel, they can manage to purchase new sheets and blankets for how much they charge per night.) Aesthetics aside, and (lack) of cleanilness, a wedding had taken place in the hotel (which I get it, May is wedding season), but the room right next door to my room was part of the wedding party, and throughout the night they kept shouting and talking right outside my door. Throughout the night people were slamming the door as they continued to enter and leave their suite. I understand the hotel doesnt have control over the guests actions, but they need to spend more money on better soundproofing the walls, it was an absolute nightmare to actually get a good nights rest (not to mention that the beds themselves suck!) The worst part about my stay was when I checked out. Its standard for the employee to ask how your stay was, and as I proceeded to explain what I found disappointing during my stay, nothing was said in exchange...complete silence on their end. Im highly disappointed with the lack of urgency from the employee to correct the problem. In my opinion, that was the worst part. I will never, ever, give my money to a company who does not value their guests. I would encourage anyone who is considering staying at the DoubleTree to reconsider and find a hotel that will make you feel valued and ensures that spend your money wisely.
