Hilton properties rarely disappoint. This clean, nicely decorated, well-lit hotel was no exception. It looked like a brand new facility & the staff very friendly & happy to assist. The restaurant staff was the only weak link. The bartender wasnt very personable. Whenever he was actually behind the bar...he was neither friendly NOR eager to assist. Once you were able to order you did get your drink promptly though. So at least hes got that going for him. But if youre going to be short with people, at least smile occasionally - just for balance. Early the next morning, the restaurant hostess was too busy chatting to seat our group for breakfast, but was (eventually) unhappy with the seats we chose for ourselves in the completely empty restaurant. There was no greeting, explanation of buffet options, no menus offered. Maybe she just hadnt clocked in yet - even though she was on the floor. At least thats what crossed my mind when I later saw her giving full, friendly hostess service to others. We should have been more considerate and eaten later. I get it. The restaurant servers were very pleasant, offering and bringing us beverages to go with the very tasty buffet. The $12 buffet price was very fair for what you get. I didnt do the evening buffet but I heard other guests saying that they were disappointed after being told that the prime rib buffet special for the night had run out of...prime rib....early. So dont get your mouth set for anything specific without checking with them first. Bottom line: Do stay at this DoubleTree! Its wonderful. And it even has a really large, well-appointed outdoor lounging space next to a nice-sized indoor swimming pool (3.5 - 6.5) & well-equipped fitness center. But eat & drink elsewhere.

This was possibly the worst experience with a hotel I have ever had. The only reason I chose the hotel was for the location to the airport and the fact that I had a coupon for the travel agency for a cheaper rate and a free ride to the airport without having to pay for parking my vehicle there for 7 days. When we got there the front desk was friendly enough, but when I asked about using the coupon, which by the way Double Tree worked with the travel agency to give out, they told me that they wouldnt accept it because I had to go through the travel agent for that deal. So, it cost me $160 to stay there for one night; which wouldnt have been bad since they let me park my vehicle there for the week, but than the rest of the experience only got worse. I called the front desk 3 times requesting a fan for noise; only to get the response that they would ask around. Finally, when I called all they said is "I dont think we do". The bed was very uncomfortable and didnt seem very clean, and there was a whistling noise coming from the heater the whole night. Not the nice room I would have expected for $160 a night! The last thing that finished the stay on a bad note was the 1 hour shuttle to the airport which was 8 miles away! I understand that Chicago traffic in the morning is bad, but when I looked up directions there were other routes that would have gotten us there faster and not make us almost miss our flight. I cant recommend NOT staying here enough.

The hotel lobby is gorgeous but the rooms are dingy and outdated. It seems as if they spent all of the time/money for renovating the hotel on the lobby alone. Its more like a motel attached to a banquet hall/steak house. My boyfriend and I stayed for three nights and had a terrible stay. The rooms didnt have refrigerators for groceries and food boxes, our TV didnt work, and there was a main lamp that wouldnt even turn on so it was pretty dark the whole time. The comforter on the bed was also so old that it was turning grey. It was pretty useless to even mention anything to the front desk because when I walked up and asked them for two extra glasses for dinner time they didnt even fully turn around to acknowledge me and pointed to the kitchen. The rooms and service were terrible and I would actually expect more from a Days Inn or cheap motel. Not worth the money - we didnt check in for longer as we originally planned and relocated to a new hotel. The main complaint is that we just checked the bank to find that we were charged an extra $150 after checking out for "smoking in the room" when neither of us are smokers. Im very upset about this unnecessary charge and think it would be silly to pay for a non-smoking room and then smoke in it. The staff is rude and unprofessional and it really seems like this place takes advantage of young people.

I was originally having a good experience, but was not okay with the fact that when I called back to adjust my reservation to stay one day less I was told my stay would cost me more per night. It was honestly less about the adjustment to the rate than it was the attitude and lack of explanation from the rep that made the adjustment for me. I ask for the change and she said "Well that will bring your rate to $169." To confirm what I was hearing I asked, "so my rate goes up because I am reducing my stay from two days to one?" And she simply responds yes, in a tone that sounded like she felt it would be an issue, if I had a problem with that. After a few more question I was able to discern that visits starting on the weekend apparently cost more than stays that start during the week. That is fine if that is your policy, but I feel that a representative should probably explain rather than telling a customer if they change their reservation the hotel will charge them more just based on that fact. If this was indicative of what I could expect, I wasnt interested in staying there. I cancelled my reservation and stayed somewhere else.

When we got there on Christmas Eve, we were greeted by a very unfriendly receptionist. The elevators are very dated and slow. The room was also dated, they provide no docking stations, charging ports, and the oldest flat screen TV there is. We were only there a total of 6 hours before we had to leave. A couple days later I find out I was charged an additional $150, because the house keeper smelled smoke. My wife and I do not smoke. They are refusing to remove the charge. You can tell that once you check out, they are done with you. Be sure to pay in cash, never give them a credit card, you might be charged as well. Response to management: Proper reason and research?! Nothing was said to me, nothing was presented to me, you just simply CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD!! Thats fraud!! What you are saying is that you are the judge, jury and conviction!! Why, because YOU decided you smelled smoke?!? Sorry, that doesnt fly! You didnt lose anything because we did not smoke in your room! Dissatisfaction?! Trust me, reviews of your hotel causes loss of sales!

Wonderful hotel. Will definitely go back. Beds were comfortable, and the whole place looks recently renovated. The pool is HUGE. Its wider than most hotel pools are long. The only bummer is the lack of a whirlpool. Breakfast buffet was very good, and you can get made-to-order omelets. The staff was all very friendly. My only (minor) complaint, which cold boil down to one person, is with housekeeping. 4 people in my room. 1st day had to call for 4th towel. 2nd day we were there to ask when maid was there. 3rd day had 3 and had call for 4th. 4th day had 2 and had to call to ask for additional 2. They delivered them quickly. I would just expect them to know how many towels to leave, especially with 4 suitcases.
