My Dad and I booked a time at this course for Saturday at noon; figured we would try it out for the first time. When we pulled up to the first tee 10 minutes before our scheduled tee-off time, there were 6 other parties ahead of us. The starter spotted our two-some and asked us to pair with another two-some. Needless to say this did not help the game move along. We did not finish the 18th hold until 6:15pm!!! Thats right, it took 6 hours to play 18 holes. We saw rangers all day moving through the course and play never sped up once. We had to wait at every single hold, and the par 3s were even worse. I will never go back to this course, because they simply do not value their customer. The rules of play are written right on the score card, "Play ready golf". Apparently they dont care once they have your money!

Saturday at noon? There are not many popular public courses you can expect to finish in less than 5-5.5 hours. Ive played this course during off peak times including Saturday mornings and have played it in the usual 4.5 hours. They are in business and for public courses they are going to do what they have to make money so you can always expect potentially very long rounds anywhere during peak hours on the weekends. If you have the money go to Makray in Barrington where they have 10 or 12 minute windows between time times but expect to pay close to 90.00 for the round. Highland Woods has been a favorite of mine in the area for 15 + years. Greens are in great shape and the ball rolls well. Great variety of holes and layouts, highly recommend..

I played there on November 3rd and was absolutely shocked by the $58 greens fee. Every course in the area has reduced Fall rates in effect except for the greedy crooks at the Forest Preserve District. This was more than I have paid all season. For $58 you get sand traps that are not raked, goose droppings everywhere, no GPS, no yardage marked on sprinkler heads and no drinking water available on the course. Worth about half of what I paid.

A great course design. It is up to the player to play his best game, and this course challenges every aspect. So it makes it easier to ignore the management. Probably one of the best public course layouts in the area. Long from the tips. It can be a little slow...to a lot slow..but thats people...not the course. Probably one of the prettier courses around. It is in the Forest Preserve system.

The course itself isnt bad for being laid out in a small area but on the weekends plan on a 5 hour round of golf. Also try a couple golf coupon sites before going because the price is a bit high for the type of course and how long it takes to get a round in. There are some nice challenging holes though which is nice.

Good staff! Dont need a golf cart just walk it with a push cart and youll be fine. Expect to be there for 5.5 hrs. I dont understand people that want a "quick" round of golf. Maybe they should take up mini golf instead. If you love the sport you will put the time in.

Good golf course for 12 to 20 hanidcap. Open, good condition, enough challenges to keep good golfers on their toes. Will penalize if wild off the tee. Suggested experience is a 5 am tee time. Very picturesque course especially then.

I usually only use the driving range, but it is a great course as a whole. The greatest part is that you can now buy a bucket of balls for the range with literally zero human interaction. As an introvert, literally perfect.

This was my go to course as a beginner. Forgiving fairways but eventually I got wary of the pace of play too slow. Traumatized by a five hour pace and never returned. But I miss the course sometimes.

No rule. Every time different rate for ppp member. Do not recommend a member. Best way just use golfnow more save money. This is not good a member

I like it. Wide fairways and not cramped like alot of courses. Greens are decently kept. Twilight golf gets crowded with no ranger patrolling.

Great Chicago Forest Preserve Golf Course, although slow play is usually an issue. Long and challenging 4 most non scratch golfers.

Decent for a public course. Was totally soaked from the rain but they still let us play. Challenging but fair.
