I loved this golf course. Consider making it my home course although it is 30 minute drive from Stone Mountain. It was $35.00 to play a weekend round which is pretty good for a course of this magnitude. Here are the pros, there is a nice staff, beautiful layout, resonable prices for golf, and merchandise ( A new pair of Calloway golf shoes were only $54.00. Pretty good for a Pro Shop). It wasnt very crowded, very challenging. Here are the cons: dont expect to much from the snack bar right now it will cost you $5.00 for a hot dog (no condiments except ketchup & mustard) a nab, and a drink of your chose. The greens are good but had quite a few bare spots, that as of 2/27/2011 were getting treated. Very tight fairways, if you cant hit it straight, or control your draw or slice... bring a 12 pack of balls you will need all of them. If you are not a 10 handicap or under dont use your pro-v1 balls you going to be upset when you lose 4 and you are just on hole number 6. Other cons are its not over crowded but golfers tend to bunch up when a group spends 5 mins every hole looking for their balls in the woods. The tee boxes, fairways, and most of the rough are pretty good, but when you start to get close to the tree line, youll notice your ball lies in more red clay than on grass. On a scale of 1 - 10 the front nine is a 5 so you need to take advantage here. The back nine is a 9.0 on the Richter Scale. If your name is not Brer Rabbit stay out of the woods, they are more brier patches than woods. There is no driving range right now. Still putting up the nets and waiting for the grass to take. It will not be open til May or June. This course has been open for a few months now but the grand opening is coming either in March or April, so look out for it. Might be a great deal for a round of golf. There is one hole to look out for. Its on the back nine, sorry I cant remember the hole number, but it has the deepest sand bunker I have ever seen. If you go in it and you are close to the lip, just pick up your ball and give yourself a 2 shot penalty. This bunker has to be atleast 20 feet deep or more. Good luck and Ill keep you updated with this course the more I play it.

The course has had and maybe still does have potential. Potential can be an overused & worn out term, and one could argue thats the case here. I believe this is third ownership since Ive lived in the area. Pros-Greens (usually in excellent condition) & Staff. Cons-Fairways not as plush as one would like and has bare spots. Ground is hard(balls can & will take off) which adds to the difficulty in deciding club selection. Ive hit many a ball straight down the pike only to watch them bounce high and far out of bounds. Also Tee boxes are extremely hard on majority of holes, so make sure to have a hammer in your bag. Also the Driving Range is restricted to Irons only. The course is challenging and can be discouraging for beginners. If cost is your main focus then SouthWind is a gem they are always offering specials to entice. Please beware, IMO until the course improves (at least a year away-per management) this may not be the most enjoyable of courses to play, especially for folks with a 15 handicap or higher.

My husband told me this was a tough track and he didnt over exaggerate. The course has a lot of elevation changes and rock formations which makes playing difficult....but I personally like the challenge. Its also very narrow. So if you arent accurate like me, make sure to bring plenty of balls. The course is under new ownership and hes making really good progress. As several of the reviewers stated, the course has lots of potential. For a public course, the greens are some of the best that I have seen. Because I play a lot of private courses too, I have become spoiled to a nicely manicured golf course. Terrible greens become a deal breaker for me.Again the greens are really nice here. (I know I said that already) The fairways still need some work but Ive seen a lot worse. The driving range isnt the best either..I definitely plan to go back since its fairly close to where I live. In fact, they are offering a special- 4 rounds for $89. Definitely getting that next time that I go!

Likes - Clubhouse, fair price, gas carts, and course distance Dislikes - Golf course has big potential, but for now it is in pretty bad shape. Had to "fluff" my ball in the fairways a number of times and all of the greens have dead spots and is concrete hard. One of the greens(16th or 17th hole) practically did not have any grass. All day it was like putting on glass and was hard to get shots to stick on any of the greens. Marshalls will follow you around and bug you. It really wasnt that hard of a course, but the conditions made it a little more challenging that what it actually is. Dont play here unless you get a really, really low price online. BTW, dont believe the photos.

This is such a stupid course! Not only are the fairways and paths in terrible shape, the ponds have no water and are just uncut swamps in the dumbest locations. You cant even play short of them because the exposed rock and clay make your ball uncontrollable. Also, someone decided that putting walls of rock in the fairways were a good idea. Theyre even in play on blind holes. The concrete sewer drains with steel manholes (yes, manholes like in a street) jetting straight up out of fairways are a nice classy touch. Itd be a nice dog park though. Id rather get 18 buckets and play in a shopping mall parking lot!

This course is just recently under new management and its really going in the right direction. Its a beautiful challenging course thats very affordable and was lots of fun. The course is undergoing a renovation and while some elements are still being developed (fairways need some work) the new ownership seems very committed to making this a top quality course. This could soon be one of the top public courses in the Atlanta area.

18 holes par 72. Under new management and it is being worked on constantly, should be a great track in a couple of years. Now is the time to take advantage of all the discounts. I play from the blue tees which is 6120 yards with a 69.4 rating and a 131 slope.

Have a look at this photo of one of the greens. The flag didnt even stand up as it was filled with sand from the bunker. Terrible condition and poor management.
