Pura night club WAS one of the best LATIN clubs in SF. Now Puras latin popularity slowly fades away due to DJs unsettling music transition and poor choice or taste of songs. For instance, last Saturday 8/29/15 I visited Pura night club. I love latin music. The genres are salsa, merengue, bachata, and some cumbia. The way it annoyed my friends, family memebers and I was the transition and the duration of songs. One song played "literally" 1:01sec. What kind of DJ does that?? This occurs mainly on the first Latin dance floor. Pura should hire, or introduce their audience a better DJ maybe bring back the DJs from last year. Back then was great music choices and better atmosphere. Pura should try to redeem their popularity and great Latin vibe in music. Or just find another Latin club.

A co-worker from Colombia (where Im also from) recommended it very highly so I had pretty good expectations. Brought my girlfriend and a couple of friends of hers. The music was mediocre in all halls; in one the D.J. started making weird screams/singing along, destroying the music. Pretty lame. Muy mala música, nada de la buena salsa que estaba buscando; at best I got one or two good songs. I dont know if I disliked the DJs selections worse than their constant talking/singing on the mics (at least in one of the halls). Dudes would start hitting on my girlfriend and her female friend in ridiculously creepy ways just seconds after I turned the other way, making them feel very uncomfortable (and they both love trashy clubs!). The place is anything but upscale.

Solo abre sábados. Tiene cuatro salas de música moderna y latina: cumbia, merengue, reggaetón y hip hop. Hay que pagar entrada que suele ser unos 20 dolares. Hay que vestir bien, el dress code es exigente, sino te gusta vestir vete un sitio de hipsters, esto es para gente guapa. Las copas son muy caras y pequeñas, mejor haberte tomado algunas antes de ir allí.

Other than ruby skye this is the other club i go to for dance/trance music and to see my fav djs like paul van dyke or ferry corsten. The smaller room when you enter plays hiphop if u dont like dance. It gets really crowded and hot in the main room in back. Anyone know of other clubs?? The downside is that its pricey $15-20 &up. Online advance tickets u hav2 pay for the process fee like a couple bucks. Sometimes mixed crowd but there can be alot of asians too (im asian). The drinks most part have been decent ¬ overpriced, sometimes they have specials. I like how people dont have to dress up too much, guys can get in with good street shoes/sneakers & a polo...i hate places when they dont let u in cuz ur not wearing the right shoes

Several dance floors with different music styles. Great music. Friendly. Seemed safe and fun. Top floor got a little grungy if you go for that sort of thing. If not, there were plenty of other dance floors to see. The dancers on the pedestals are tasteful and beautiful. Lots of people to meet without it devolving to a meat market. Lots of women, not as many men, but the men know how to dance, rarely sat down and were respectful. I had a great time.

Tiene excelente espacio, pero pésimos los DJs, nada de canciones nuevas, mezclan malísimo, quizás escuche "El Taxi" unas 4 veces en la misma noche (fue la canción más moderna que pusieron)

The irony. A club named after a Latin adjective, but w/ countless yelp reviews commented below on behalf of admission being culturally biased; Including this one. I do not encourage jumping to conclusions however, Ive been turned away twice at the front door on very questionable terms here at Pura. By no means is this a biased review. Just conveying my experience(s) here

Racist Bouncers. Profiling everyone going in the club. Apparently if your valid ID doesnt scan in their gameboy machine which they hide from your view, they ask for a passport. Didnt know you needed a passport to get in a club... The reviews speak for themselves. Take your money to Tequila Lounge in Redwood City, smaller but worth the drive and hassle free security!

Once youre inside its great but they are so dramatic and on a power trip at the door , every time I go they dont let someone in our group in. It could be for simply wearing a plaid shirt that literally the person in front of us had as well.

The worst experience ever with this club. I honestly would not recommend it to anyone. Starting from the people in the front, so called security to the manager. They are racist and do not appreciate the customers.

Great vibe in this club. Different rooms with different types if music playing. The very big downfall is that there is only 1 mens and 1 womens bathroom. So once everyone hashad a few drinks the lines take forever.

Loved it until the most rude bartender helped us first time there, we got bottle service and the girls were great the Philippino bartender was so rude we had no idea they only took cash, he was so rude about it.

They sure do love their Merengue here! Dress code seems to be strictly enforced when it gets busy, so gents bring your nice shoes and non-plaid collar shirts so you dont run the risk of being turned away.

Lots of fun, multiple rooms with different style music. Expensive cover charge, but totally worth it. It gets hot, but if you go into the largest room they mist you with cold fog. Lots of fun!
