It is okay for a montgomery county course. In all honesty it is not any better than some of the other county run courses in the area. It is a little expensive for what you get. If I am going to spend around 80 bucks a round; I will just go a little west and play at whiskey creek or somewhere else. I play at Blue Mash when there is a deal or its late in the afternoon because its close by. The problems with it are the vicinity to the roadway, the power lines cutting through the course, and the driving range running along side number 12. Number 10 has you teeing off right next to the clubhouse and practice area. Also, it should be altered to have the 17th green as its green. It would be an awesome hole if it was setup like that. I have played this course off and on since it opened. They have made the 1st hole easier than it was but extending the fairway. It was probably the right move as the design was a little odd to begin with. Number 7 used to have the tee box in a place that made the hole a much greater challenge...now its just a short iron off the tee on a 300 yard par 4.

Great course; great layout, conditions always excellent. Two pet peeves though that the course needs to fix ASAP. 1) There is simply not enough drinking water on the course. There is no reason not to havea cooler with water at least evry other hole. The back 9 this past weekend was brutal and no sign of the beverage cart. Dehydration is bad for you and makes for bad golf. How much could it cost to put some more coolers out there. Really. 2) slow play - no course is immune. Playing this past weekend morning we were behind a group thatw as playing the blue tees but had no business doing so; we were waiting for them on every hole. By the back 9 they had at least a hole and half in front of them. Someone from the course needed to give these guys a kick in the pants and move them along but no one did. Excruciating. Otherwise this is my favorite public palce to play that is less than an hr from the DC line (although I still hate the 8th hole! - I can forgive 1 atrocious hole per course).

This has become our new HOME course. Its easy for us to get to, rarely do we have to wait to get a tee time. One of the things I really like is that both in the spring and fall they alert you that they have aerated the greens. I have been to too many places that dont tell you until youre on the course. One place in particular in the Md area leaves holes 1 and 2 unaerated then you get hit from there on out. This course is well maintained even through its heavy play.Ths staff is always accomodating and I have never had any issues there. Fact it, when they first opened I played there and swore I would never go back. There were no marshalls, and the pace was TERRIBLE. We had to call the club house to get someone out to see what was going on. That was WAY BACK.......I suggest you try this place. Its easy to walk, what you see is what you get, nothing tricky, no railroad ties or massive bunkers you cant get out of, well maintaned and fun to play.

Overall condition and excellent staff makes this place really feel like a country club for a day. Blue Mash is the best daily fee course in the DC Metro Area. I played here soon after it opened ten years ago and it has come a long way since then. After a decade, the course has matured into a fantastic layout. Choices off the tee are common on a number of holes and the various tee boxes offer a challenge for every skill level of golfer. Its proximity to downtown DC and its reasonable rates for a high end golf course makes Blue Mash a great place to play on a regular basis. The practice facility has a grass driving range and short game area complete with bunkers which is virtually non-existent at any other golf course in the area.

One of the best public golf courses in the Mid-Atlantic. The course starts off with a slightly uphill, and challenging, par-4 and indulges you with scenic, well-manicured fairways as you carry on with your round. There are several par-3s over water that challenge your game (especially if its windy). Pace of play is very reasonable but you might sometimes find yourself playing a 4.5 hour round in the summer. Although a little on they pricey side, the course is well worth the money. And if you are visiting the DC/Baltimore area, this would be in my top 5 golf courses to play.

Played on 4/30/12. They recently aerated the greens so give it a few weeks before they are rolling true again. Fairways were in OK shape, but everything is really hard. Once we get some rain the course should soften up and really be fun. Try and score a tee time after 1pm and the rate is pretty decent. In peak times, I am not sure if the money is worth the congestion.

Some people complain about the price but it is definitely worth it because the course is in great shape. The fairways and greens are extremely nice, they were some of the best greens I have ever played. The practice facility there is one of the best I have ever seen. The staff there were very nice and the staff completed my great experience there.

Considering their price and location, I expected the course to be in better condition. They are more concerned with the start and pace time. The stuff isnt the most welcoming. There are a lot of other courses in Montgomery county that I would prefer. We drove close to an hour, waste of time and money. We wouldnt be coming back any time soon.

Definitely one of the better courses in the area, half of the holes are wide open and the rest wind through heavy trees. Slightly more expensive than the average Montgomery County courses. If you arent afraid of cold weather, try out some winter golf when they are running their temperature = price deal.

Mostly play at winter times in past few years as summer rate is too pricey for me. Long and wide fairway. Big greens (fast). A lot of holes with water especially the back nine. The ponds does show a blue reflection in winter time as the name of the course indicates. Beautiful and great golf course.

Course is fantastic, and always in good shape for a public course. The pace of play can be really slow. Started at 1pm and couldnt finish before dark at 5:30. Wish they could push slower golfers a bit more to help with pace of play, but it really is a nice course in Montgomery County.

Played Blue Mash recently and the course is in great shape, definitely the best conditions for a course in MoCo that Ive seen this summer. I got an internet special on their website, but it is worth the price of the greens fee. Clubhouse is nice and the staff is friendly.
