Great museum and great experience with some very nice people volunteering BUT, their property is on the other side of the main railway and the only entrance and exit can be blocked for an hour and a half or more by a train and they know this and do not tell you about it. It is not their fault that a train would stop there but you should be aware that you can be stuck like we were for over an hour and a half after we wanted to leave. It was only after their closing time at 5pm approached were they motivated to discover a back entrance?? No establishment should ever have the potential of their paying customers to feel trapped and not be able to leave, especially one that caters to small children. In fact, I thought that was illegal??? They need to have this posted or mentioned before you pay or they should have a backup plan for when it is this long.

A good place to visit for Railroad & history buffs. They have several steam locomotives that allow you to climb right into the cab, a $3 diesel powered train ride around the park, several old passenger & sleeper cars in process of being restored, a big room of rail memorabilia, and a rail depot that was moved from Norcross GA, and re-built on site in near original condition from the 1940s. Plan on spending at least 3hrs on-site, and perhaps 5hrs+ depending on how much detail you want to see, or how much interest the kids have in "train stuff". About 2/3 of the exhibits are inside, so you can enjoy the visit even if it rains; but the main building has no heat or A/C, so it can be cold in winter.

What a great way to spend your afternoon with your family. My young son who is a train enthusiast had a blast. The staff/train conductors are extremely knowledgeable about all locomotives and friendly. The museum is great for photography as there are plenty of trains to shoot and you can actually go into some (most) of the trains, which is always cool. Theres a small gift shop with a good selection of train themed items you wont easily find in commercial stores. We took a quick diesel electric train ride which was exciting enough for my small kids. Ticket prices are reasonable and the property as a whole is well kept. I can totally see us visiting again in years to come.

I come up here from Orlando at least once per year. The volunteer staff are always phenomenal, and willing to accommodate even my wacky photo requests. Excellent museum with a wide variety of equipment, operating train ride and park train, large model railroad layout, indoor and outdoor exhibits, and gift shop with snacks and drinks. Dont miss the vintage bus collection, either! Highly recommended museum!

Museum tour is self-guided. Patrons are allowed to board many of the railcars and take photos. There is a miniature train on site used to tour the grounds which is great for children. To view all the trains, other artifacts and to read the descriptions would likely take about two hours. All railroad, transportation and history buffs as well as children who love trains will enjoy this museum.

Lots of different trains to look at, and walk through. Definitely recommend getting the train ride in the cab with the engineer for two dollars more. He was really nice and knowledgable. He pleasantly answered all our questions about the mechanics of trains. Getting there is a little easy to miss, it is set back off the road, but well worth it for the drive out to Duluth.

Most of the trains on display can be explored inside and out and there is a lot of interesting information. The volunteers are helpful, concerned about the safety of patrons, and work hard. The day we went it was raining and stormy and they refused to run the train in the lightning, but were willing to run the train for us even in the rain.

My retired father just started volunteering here so we recently went to check it out. This place is so cool! They have a really diverse collection of old cars, including many engines, a postal train with a sorting car, and a few sleeper cars from different eras that you can walk through. Made we want to go on a rail journey across the USA.

A large number of fascinating steam engines and rolling stock! A great collection! Unfortunately, it appears they dont have the budget to maintain these beautiful antiques. Many are being shown in an "unrestored", sad condition. Still, its worth a visit to see these marvels of yesteryear.

What an amazing museum! The locomotives are well-kept and just a pleasure to look at, the cars are in great condition, and there are plenty of historical and modern railroad infrastructure bits and paraphernalia. A great visit for your average visit visitor and dedicated railfan.

Great display of varying vintages of train engines and cars. They have a couple of other transit options from varying vintages (read old checked cabs). The train ride is pretty short and doesnt really go anywhere, but if you have a toddler who loves trains theyll enjoy it.

As members, we love this place. Or train-loving son asks to go most weekends when asked what he would order to do for fun. Nice staff, neat trains and two different train rides.... Keeps us coming back time and time again

Love this place. Great for the kids and anyone who loves trains and history. Much of the museum is outdoors so best bet is to have a decent pair of shoes and ideally pick a nice weather day. Lots of cool things to see.

The museum is a bit old but is the only one in the metro area to have a full scale train running on the property. The train doesnt go far due to space restrictions and etc., but is definitely a place to explore.

The staff were all very friendly. The museum has so many things to see. Most everything was a hands on experience. They offered a wonderful military discount! A terrific mixture of railroad history in Georgia.

Love this place! Great toddler Thursday event. My son loved the museum, trains, and train ride. I appreciate the big fan inside during the summer. Save your ticket for reduced admission on a following visit.

My father worked on the B & O, and as a child was able to travel from Chicago to Washington, D.C. I always had a fascination with trains. I am almost 70 and the passion is still there!

An absolute must of you have a little boy whos interested in trains and buses, but be aware that its more like a disused rail yard than a museum in many respects.

Not just train engines and cars. Early automobiles, mid century buses, steam tractors, and some more. Great for children and adults.

My impression is very good! It feels like there is a time mashine. If you walk among old trains you will have similar feelings!
