The Buckhead Theatre Pros: Cool Venue, Cozy, Nice Atmosphere, Clean Bathrooms Cons: Loud, Inconvenient Parking On September 30th, a group of friends and I went to the Buckhead Theatre to see Nate Ruess’ solo show. We arrived at approximately 7:00 pm, which was when the doors opened. The only parking we could find was a little ways down the road and in a empty field on the other side of the street as the venue. The parking was rather expensive at $15, and the lack of a crosswalk anywhere nearby forced us to jaywalk to get to the venue. The line to get into the venue was fairly long when we arrived, however the ushers were quite quick and we able to get into the venue in a timely manner. The opening act, Saint Motel, took the stage on schedule right a 8:00 pm. One of my only complaints of the whole evening was that I felt that Saint Motels set was rather loud, to the point that I found the loudness rather distracting. When Saint Motel finished their set Nate Ruess took to the stage. The mixing on his set was far better and allowed me to fully enjoy the show, and enjoy the show I did. During Nate Ruess’ set the intimacy of the venue really came through, as Ruess travelled around the stage and even down into the crowd it felt as if he was making a personal connection with everybody in the theatre. After Ruess’ set finally came to an end after his second encore the crowd quickly dispersed into the lobby where the merchandise tables were. The lines to procure merchandise were rather long, but again the ushers efficiently worked through the line and got everybody what they wanted. Overall, my experience at the Buckhead Theatre was wonderful, everything was clean, and all of the staff were friendly and helpful. I would absolutely see another show here, and would recommend that all do the same.

The venue is very clean and classy. The staff was friendly and helpful from the security to the bartenders. They also have a great drink selection at the bar and a comfortable foyer to slip your drink between sets. That being said, this is all irrelevant if they cant provide a great concert experience, and as a big music lover, Im avoiding this venue for all future shows. The main issues involve sound, view, and lighting which all are insanely important to house a great show. The walls of this place simply cant handle bass whatsoever. The reverb off the walls can get so bad at points that the mic is completely inaudible. Not to mention if you get unlucky enough to be stuck in the back half of the room, youre confined under an oddly low ceiling underneath the balnony. This low ceiling captures idle conversation and amplifies it ten fold. Speaking of the ceiling, it can also cut off the view of the top half of the stage depending on where you end up. I heard the view from the balcony is better but the seats were already taken by the time we got there. Finally, when you walk into the stage area during a show, youll be met with total darkness. Its bizarre trying to understand where you are without running into people. I had a couple other smaller issues that hindered my experience. One was that they required a printed ticket for the show I attended. They would turn ppl away if they didnt have a paper ticket. Thats a big pet peeve of mine. The other is that all the parking near the venue is twenty bucks or so. I can handle ten, but twenty is just too much. I recommend Ubering. Anyway, if you couldnt guess at this point, I recommend seeing shows elsewhere.

I was visiting a friend from out of town and we saw The Naked Magic Show on Saturday night. I was very disappointed. Not only was the show mediocre but I was annoyed there were many people who had arrived late, came drunk and talked nearly the entire time. And I dont mean whispered- using normal tones of voice as if they were at home, carrying on a conversation in their living room. This made the show (and the jokes) hard to hear. The ushers made no attempt to hush the multiple groups who were disturbing the rest of us and it took several attempts from other show-goers to "shhhh" and finally "SHUT UP!" the annoyances. One drunk woman was getting combative and I was afraid shed assault my friend because hed shushed her as well. Very disappointing.

I havent been to this location since it was The Roxy and will probably never go back. I go to shows as often as possible being a music lover, but the experience here was awful. The show was great but everything else really took away from the experience. It was ridiculously hot, drenched in sweat and couldnt breath hot, it also smelled absolutely horrendous throughout the entire venue and a lot of the other patrons were screaming conversations throughout the entire show, making it actually difficult to hear the performer at times. I am not one to normally complain, but as an avid music lover I want to warn anyone else that goes because they appreciate music, not because they want to go to social hour during a performance.

Very well preserved venue with great acts. Poor rating due to horrible sound and terrible lighting! The declare in the concert area is less than average for a building of this nature. The lobby is very nice and the drink selection is great. To make this place better they need to work on the acoustics, put some lighting under the overhand and some speakers to project the sound under there as well for folks that done get there early enough to be in the front half (which still has so-so sound.) nice clean place, but not the place you would want to see a show if youre a music/concert junky looking for more than just a party.

Buckhead Theatre brings in great artists but after a number of concerts, I tend not to attend any shows here anymore. The event producers never time the acts well so you end up standing around for 20-30 minutes between openers and the main show. The sound system is decent but nothing like Terminal West or even Variety Playhouse or Aisle 5. The crowd is usually rude or stale. This year they started making you pay $20 CASH to park in the open lots nearby, which is nearly the price of tickets!! Most acts that come to BT return the year after and go to a different (better) venue, like the Tabernacle.

I finally had the opportunity to visit the The Theater and was thoroughly impressed. Ironically, it was for a Halloween party, but the environment was great. An upstairs and downstairs, both with bars and restrooms, make the idea of seeing a show here a great one! The stage and acoustics had a very intimate feel to it and I was really enjoying the larger breakout rooms upstairs. Im waiting patiently for them to book someone Id like to see, and when they do.... I think you get the picture.

This is a very intimate venue. Great view from pretty much anywhere. Being a smaller venue though, the acoustics can get a little rough for rock shows. General admission is standing room only. Also, I wasnt checked at all in terms of being patted down or by a metal detector. I would feel much better knowing that people were at least somewhat searched. Great staff and overall a great venue.

As much as I loved George Ezras performance, it was too hot in that venue. I was drenched in sweat. How can Buckhead Theater not have any kind of cool air (or any air in general) circulating in a venue that cramped? ESPECIALLY a sold out show?? No fans? Nothing? Even George Ezra made a comment on profusely sweating because of how hot it was in there. Never coming to this venue again.
