I was an invited guest to Bayou Golf Club. My GPS had me turn off of Belcher Rd onto Bayou Club Blvd, but the security guard at the gate would not let me thru that way, instructing me to go around 3 sides of a square via Bryan Dairy and Longwood. Apparently the snobs in the Bayou Club development dont want people driving thru their neighborhood, even their own guests. Dont worry. I wont be back. The golf itself was very difficult, firm fast undulating greens, which wont hold even a short pitch, members pushing you even though we played under 4 hrs. The staff was arrogantly snooty when I reported a lost golf club. Bayou club needs to get over itself. Its not the only golf course in Tampa Bay, and there are better clubs and courses out there.

Bayou Club can and has scheduled 5 people to tee off even at 9 am. If the pace is very slow they may break them into 2 groups (now in front of you...) if you complain enough.. This policy would certainly contradict the "USGA Pace of Play" commitment on their web page. Before you join be aware of this policy. The course is beautiful and may be worth it anyway if you have the time and patience.

Beautiful course. Its a private so if you have the opportunity to go you should. They do a great job maintaining the course and the staff is great.
