This is the best movie theater in Jacksonville. I live in St. Johns, so anytime I want to go to the movies its at least a 40 minute drive but I dont care -- Im going. The main theater has plenty of space between you and the people in front of/behind you and the tables are very convenient for keeping concessions. Speaking of concessions -- they have the best concession stand out of all of the movie theaters in Jacksonville. The pizza is better than any corporate pizza place (e.g. Papa Johns, Pizza Hut, Hungry Howies, etc.) and even rivals some of the better local joints. The sandwiches are also great, and they have homemade treats like homemade twinkies, cookies, etc. The standard popcorn, soda, candy fare is very good and priced better than the big movie-plexes. They also have a great selection of local and national beer and wines which are also priced really well (think 100-200% markup as opposed to your standard 400%). The service is also great. You dont have to wait around for any food -- theyll just give you a little buzzer and bring you your food in the theater when its ready. Parking can be tricky but thats 5 points for ya -- its never taken me more than 5 minutes to find a spot. Whenever theres something I want to see, I always check this place first. This place is so nice itll even affect what I want to watch :)

Sun-Ray is an excellent movie theater and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quality movie-watching experience. The crowds here tend to be more respectful during films so youre way less likely to encounter rude or loud people than you would at your local chain-multiplex. Sun-ray also tends to show a lot of limited-release movies so you can see movies here that you wouldnt be able to see anywhere else in Jax! My only complaint is the hot food leaves something to be desired. Having food brought to you during a movie is awesome but the pizzas, sandwiches, and hot dogs are a pretty pricey for what they are. I would however recommend the beer shake.

Went here for the first time a few weeks ago and this is now one of my favorite theaters in Jacksonville. It has a ton of personality. The popcorn is delicious and they serve it in actual bowls not paper bowls. They have beer in bottles, cans, local beers, and on draft. They also have wine. Their prices are very reasonable and not like the big chain theaters where you will pay 6 bucks for a small drink. They also recently built a new theater room near the entrance and I got to watch Monuments Men (the movie sucked), but its an awesome movie room! If youve never been you are totally missing out. This place is worth the drive to see a movie.

The management is awful. Ive been there quite a few times now and some skinny girl that works in the front always seems to be in a sour mood, even going so far as rolling her eyes at me (when she thought I wasnt looking) because I asked for a new batch of popcorn without butter, because shed put butter in the first bowl. Most of the others whove helped me have been great, but my experiences with her are turning me off to this theater, especially when I come to relax and see a new movie after a long week of work and encounter someone so ungrateful even be there.

My favorite theater in Jacksonville! Great atmosphere, and the staff is awesome. Many are very knowledgeable on cinema, and they are also very accommodating on any request you might have. The food selection is great, and they will bring it right to your seat. Pizza (any kind), Hummus Grilled Cheese, or Spicy Portobello Sandwich (with fries!) are my personal recommendations. They also have a good selection of beer and wine, and it is reasonably priced for a movie theater. I havent been to one of the chain theaters in years, Sun-Ray is my first choice every time.

Great local theater. They serve good beer and decent food, and the theater is set up with tables for eating while you watch. They do a lot of local events, including screenings of Walking Dead episodes, which are always a ton of fun. Seating is limited though, as the theater is small, so buy tickets early or ahead of time, if you can. This isnt your typical mega-plex, so if youre looking for a huge screen to debut this summers biggest Michael Bay movie, this isnt the theater for you.

We love to go here and watch movies. Sometimes you get the large screen, sometimes you get the small screen, but both are great additions to the neighborhood. We love the ability to grab a bucket or a bottle, grab some popcorn and other snacks, the staff are incredibly friendly and they run a great movie theater. Anyone in the area, should try it as they also feature a number of indie movies that you cannot find anywhere else in town.

First time going here, my g/f and I really wanted to see the critically acclaimed anime, Your Name. This was the only theater in jax playing it. It was pretty small with only 2 theaters, but loved the feel of the place and its unique decor. They serve food and drinks there, and the food is brought to you at the beginning of the movie. Tried the pizza which was good :) would def come back here again, in the future.

The Sun-Ray Cinema is a Jacksonville treasure in the middle of Five Points. I suggest that everyone skip the cineplex and catch a movie here. The seating is comfortable, the food is great and the people that work there are wonderful. I love that they bring small independent films to Jacksonville that otherwise would have never made it to this market. Kudos on creating a cinematic destination for Northeast Florida.

This theater is great for dates. The staff is very friendly. Its an older theater with paintings on the walls and a fun selection of food and beverages! Gives you an "old time" feel. There are only two screens so movies are limited and they show both new popular movies as well as independent films. If they played all new movies I would come here every time! They play White Christmas every year and I love it!

This Five Points independent theater serves great food, beer, and wine for your viewing pleasure. Try the Jake Golbold barbecue pork pizza. $1 refills on popcorn bowls. With friends get a pitcher or bucket of beer. With kids get a pitcher of soda. Keep an eye out for film festivals, special features w/ Q&A sessions with contributors, Jaguar away games, and Walking Dead on the big screen on Sunday night.

This is the most amazing cinema Ive been in. The snacks from the concession stand is more affordable I expected, and the seats are comfy with a table in front of you to set down your drinks and snacks. I even appreciated the owned coming out before the movie to personally thank the audience for coming out to her theater. Small well-run independent theaters like this deserve your business!

Every time I go to Sun-Ray, I am reminded of the true way to watch a film. It is awesome that we have a theater in Jacksonville which will show the off-beat, quirky independent films, as well as the mega blockbusters. Love that they have speakers come in, directors, actors, etc. What a gem to have in Jacksonville, kudos to a locally owned business for getting it absolutely right!
