Saw Sister Act and it was really great. Cast was top notch and Athens staff was great. The only negative was the lack of air circulation and air conditioning. It was so warm I almost had to leave due to overheating. Though maybe it was just me, but was with 3 friends who said the same thing. After the show you would hope everyone would be talking about the show and how great it was. But outside, the only thing I heard was how miserable the inside was due to the aforementioned air conditioning issue. Would have been nice if staff would have at least apologize for the inconvenience

Ive been to several musicals and tributes held at this theater and I must say Ive enjoyed every single one. The actors they have perform on stage arent your average grade school student performers! You can tell these people had some serious training and their skills are top notch! On top of that, the theater is always spotless and homey, which I love. And just the atmosphere. I feel like I go back in time every time I step through those doors. If you live nearby or anywhere in Florida for that matter, this is a hotspot you must check out!

I have never been disappointed in any of the performances at the Athens Theatre. Our ladies group varies between 6-24 people at any point; weve laughed, weve cried, weve sung the songs. Its just a great experience and quite affordable (especially when you hit the BOGO offers!!). Always remember, these are not paid professionals. Everyone (sans one paid employee) working with the theatre are volunteers and always give 150% of their time, their talent, their heart and their soul.

What a great venue for live theater! Wonderful volunteers and staff, comfortable seating and excellent views from all seats in the house. Drinks and snacks are available for purchase. This theater is truly a community treasure steeped in the history of downtown DeLand! We recently saw an outstanding performance of A Christmas Carol The Musical. Every play and musical here is top rated with excellent cast and crew.

This old-school theater is truly a community treasure! Recently saw an outstanding live presentation of Pink Floyds, The Wall. Every play and musical here is top rated as the local (and imported) talent really comes out to shine!

I love this place! I went on a little mini tour the other day when I was in DeLand and the theater was gorgeous! Being formerly in the performing arts area, Jane, the lady at the front, mentioned that you can audition for plays and musicals, knowing that, I signed up for email references and hopefully I will be lucky enough to be apart of this beautiful theater!

Not only is the historic Athens Theatre among the most beautiful live theatre venues in Central Florida, but the plays and musicals just keep getting better and better! Many compare the productions here to Broadway, but the tickets are actually affordable for the whole family! I would definitely recommend the Athens to arts lovers of all ages.

Beautifully restored italian Renaissance theatre built in 1922. We saw Guys and Dolls last night and highly recommend this performance. We were very impressed with quality of the acting and singing. Sets and lighting were most creative. We intend to be regulars at The Athens Theatre. Lots of great privately owned restaurants nearby.

The productions are amazing; the stage settings and costumes are very professional. The talent is excellent. The theater is a historical landmark and has been refurbished in keeping with its historical presence.

Wonderful, historical Theater. Too bad it wasnt larger than 500 seats. But, this also makes it quaint. All shows I have seen their are very professional and well worth every penny.
