Theres no way not to love Butterfly World. Ive been to a number of butterfly gardens. Generally you walk through a small room with a dozen or so different species. Not here. This is rooms and room devoted to butterflies. Start with the exhibits of cocoons and caterpillars. You can watch them emerge and harden their wings. Its educational but fascinating. Move on to the big open rooms, filled with dozens of attractive plants and hundreds of free fluttering butterflies. Theyre everywhere. If you get lucky, you may find yourself with one taking a ride on you. They come in all different colors and patterns, its totally mesmerizing. Watch them feed at fruit stands or on the nectar of the flowers. Watch them sitting in mist filled areas, with sparkling drops of water on their wings or antennae. Its a photographers paradise. Another room has tropical birds mingling with the butterflies. Outside are more birds and open gardens of flowers. There is also a butterfly plant nursery, where you can get plants to start your own gardens. There are frequently scheduled classes on how to get your glorious habitat started. Finally is the gift shop, with hundreds of butterfly related items. There are many beautiful selections from educational items to lovely jewelry. My only problem with the facility is the price, which keeps us from going nearly as often as wed like. But if we have out-of-town guests, this is a mandatory trip that is always a delight.

I brought my family yesterday (dont forget your "three dollars off" each member coupon on the website) and each member from 2 to 62 had a wonderful time. It was a little warm out and the park is outside, but theres plenty of shade and an occasional mist to help cool you off. I would have liked for the "guides" to have been more involved, as you have to seek one out should you or a family member have a question, but at least they are available to "seek out". The plants and flowers are just beautiful and I would have loved to have seen little signs on the more beautiful trees and vines to tell us what they are and which ones might be available in the store. I also would have liked to have had a "guide" point out the Caterpillar Room where they grow the exotic butterflies, but again, you have to seek out a guide and ask to even know that room exists. If its a cool beautiful day, you can spend all day butterfly viewing. If the weather is hot, count on two to two and a half hours before you have to seek out the Air Conditioning. keep your eye on your children as they can wonder out without supervision. All in all, a great time and a great place to bring the relatives from up north. There are plenty of benches in the shade and cool snacks.

The only reason I gave 4 stars is because theyre a bit pricey at $25/person. But the experience is beautiful & relaxing. If you love butterflies like I do, you will be amazed. There are lots of benches to sit down & take as much time as you want to let the butterflies fly all around you. They have alot of colorful species and beautiful flower gardens. They have a lorikeet room and also a spider exhibit. An indoor butterfly gallery and a lab where you can see live butterflies & caterpillars transforming. Such an amazing once in a lifetime experience. They dont have much for food, just burgers & pizza but its a fair price. When planning, be aware this is an OUTDOOR park and is subject to the elements. This is Florida - it rains often and can be very hot and humid. So dress accordingly, use your sunscreen and bring an umbrella or poncho just in case.

My husband has ALWAYS wanted to see a hummingbird. I had, living for 21 years in Southern California, seen a lot, but since I moved to Central Florida, I havent seen a one wild. So down we went to Butterfly World and it more than met our expectations. Many more hummers than the SD Zoo has, which seems to be about the only other place to see them at all on display. They were so close and not scared at all. It was fantastic also to see the butterflies and photograph them. We bought a years pass for both of us and we will be back. It didnt seem pricey to me when you consider how much care these animals take. So if what you are interested in is hummingbirds, butterflies, a study of plants that attract these animals, and photography, you cannot go wrong going to Butterfly World.

If you love butterflies or small birds, or plants or even insects, youll want to visit Butterfly World. I had a great experience today. The butterflies were flying all over in the rainforest area. I took so many pictures of butterflies sitting, flying, and eating. The waterfall was so clean and I loved listening to it as we sat down on the many benches. When we visited the smalll birds, some were eating, flying, and we even saw them making a nest! The plants and flowers were beautiful. I have many pictures of different types of flowers and trees, too. The insect area was creepy to me so boys would have so much fun in that area. I love the butterflies but my favorite place today was the Lorikeets. I had so much fun feeding them. One was on my head and licked my face. What fun!

We had a lot of fun while there. I think with the price you should be able to have so many little cups to feed the birds instead of asking for more money. Plus you have to pay for parking. The guy at the front desk was nice and thanked my husband for his service in the Military. Not very many other people there really talked much. The bug section was interesting and I dont deal with bugs. The weather was great as well thank God. People just need to pay attention to not touch the butterflies but thats just ignorance in there own way. Its posted everywhere but maybe post it larger so those types of people can see it. I would recommend this place to many people if they came down south. Thank you for having something like this around.

It was: The butterfly enclosure was amazing. Many different butterflies were around us in the air, on the plentiful flowers, and on the feeders. The greenhouse was well planted, with a waterfall and had benches to sit and watch. I loved feeding the parrots ($1 for food) they were tame and all over me and quite friendly; made for great photos. Expensive at $25 per adult (plus tax) (our hotel had flyers with a 4 dollar coupon on the rack of brochures for local attractions) Could be improved by: Labels on the plants so you know what those pretty flowers are. a bulletin board with pictures of the butterflies and species which are currently in the exhibit. Turning off the music. The relentless piano music got too much after a while.

Our visit experience on the 29th October, 2014. I, my husband and our visitor from Sweden enjoyed the visit to Butterfly World, but our visit was marred by something that I came across afterwards when we returned home. I had printed out a coupon for five dollars off each person from the internet, and when I presented it to the cashier she stated that it should cost sixty dollars plus tax… there was a bit of confusion when our Swedish visitor should pay as he was not used to our money.. All of a sudden the cost went up, and the price of admission became sixty nine dollars and ninety eight cents. The cost should have been sixty three dollars and sixty cents with the coupon for five dollars off each person, plus tax.
