We LOVE the CMofWS!! We have been members for over a year. I have been coming to the CMofWS since it opened in 2006 as a teacher (K), aunt (at the time a pre-schooler & 1st grader), and now mother (1 & 3 year old). The day to day museum is best suited for babies-1st graders. They also have many programs and events geared towards 5-10 year olds. Their programs rock! My 3yr old LOVES Angel Bear Yoga, PAWS to Read, and the most wonderful art projects led by a warm and creative retired Art Teacher. They also have have several other preschool programs during the mornings centered around a story and a follow up activity. There are several friendly volunteers like the magic man, very cool for preschool and school aged kids. The staff is ALL friendly and helpful, this includes everyone from the manager to the front desk folks to the janitor to the program folks and volunteers. We have visited many CMs and they are the friendliest!! The 2 story climbable beanstalk will take your breath away when you come in! The carpet climbing structure gives my climbers a fun, safe place to practice their climbing skills. My daughter also loves the Vet Clinic, little houses, doughnut factory, and the outdoor sand and water play. As for managing the museum with babies it is stroller friendly. The areas are open and roomy so your stroller can be near you at all times. There is an elevator and a family bathroom on each level. Most play areas have a spot for tiny ones to play. Also each area has a nice place for adults to sit and watch the kids. The library is well stocked, and quiet and comfy for reading or quiet games. The facility is always clean, organized (maybe not during field trips, the staff do their best to keep up), and well maintained (bright, happy atmosphere). Best of all, the bathrooms and eating areas are always SUPER clean. Hats off to all the folks that make this museum top notch!! BTW, thank you to the staff member who found my sons shoe in the parking lot and took it in to the lost in found box. Thats going above and beyond!

I packed a picnic lunch and carried my 5 year old son and 8 year old daughter. We spent 5 hours at the museum and did not get bored. It has a nice library with plenty of books that you will find scattered throughout the museum as the enchanted forest is based on several stories. They offered a sign language class that we attended at my 8 year old really enjoyed that-they both can now spell their names in sign language plus sign several other words. The art room was open and they also enjoyed creating. Its a great, educational, interactive experience that I highly recommend and will back back again! Pack a lunch and plan to stay all day. Although the snack room is small, it was clean and there was also available outside spaces to enjoy your lunch if you prefer. There is not a gift shop, so dont plan on shopping. After you leave, go to the Krispy Kreme donut factory on Stratford, so the kids can see how donuts are really made, but they will love the interactive experience of making them in the museum.

This museum is NOT closed, the writer below is mistaking this museum with the Toy Museum that was take over by the Old Salem Library. I was recently invited to a birthday party hosted here and I was very impressed. I have a 3 1/2 year old but had not yet been and we loved it! I am also shocked by the writer below that said it is small. It may not be as large as Discovery Place in Charlotte but it is more than ample for your child to play and discover for a solid couple hours. Any more than that and youd go crazy anyway!

I have traveled to many states and childrens museums over the past couple years. Saying that, it is a nice one for what little is offered in the area. However, they can do so much more with little effort. Without going into a lot of details.. IMO the membership is overpriced for what is offered. If u plan on going every other month and only have one or two children pay per visit a few times before biting the bullet. Hope this helps and moreover! Have fun with little stress !

I took my three year old there for an outing one day. We had a blast. Even though we live about an hour away we ended up joining and have enjoyed every single trip. My little one loves to act out stories and pretend play. The staff has been wonderful everytime we go. There is another childrens museum much closer but we dont enjoy it near as much. My daughter would be there daily if we lived closer.

I love the downtown Childrens Museum. They have wonderful areas to play in and explore like the giant tree in the main hall along with local additions to interact with such as the Krispy Kreme and Lowes Foods corners where kids can play with doughnut shop items or grocery mainstays. They also have activities where you can participate in art or music. Very clean facilities and friendly staff.

Not as many exhibits as I expected. The ones they had were nice. I took our 18 month old and felt like the exhibits were a little large and advanced for her but she seemed to enjoy it. Would probably go back if I was in the area again and needed something to do. The Greensboro Childrens Museum is larger and has more things to do, IMO.

One of our favorite places in Winston to go with our two year old. If you live in town with kids, the membership is worth it (especially when combined with SciWorks). For a single visit, might be a bit pricey, especially of your kids melt down 10 minutes in. Also of your kids are over 5 or so, then stick with SciWorks

We had our childrens birthday parties here. We were able to rent the entire facility. This is a perfect venue for younger children. The kids had a great time and the staff was very accommodating. I highly recommend this place bot only for birthday parties but for educational play time for kids.

I took my 4 yr. old niece . It was a great way to spend the day( There from 10:30 until 2:00) She was busy learning and playing the entire time. She also made new friends. I highly recommend but be ready to walk and keep up with the children you take. Also best to pack a lunch or snacks.

My son is 3 and had fun running around, but not much to do for his age. Greensboro Childrens museum had A LOT more for him, but you get into Kaleideum museum FREE with your receipt from Sciworks!!! Two places for the price of one is nice, they just need more for younger kids to do.

The CMWS is a great place for the kids to enjoy. I have taken my 5 year old and 2 year old for several years, and they always seem disappointed to leave. If your nap schedule can handle it, it is a great place to take a picnic lunch and then let the kids have more fun.

Theres lots of things for kids to enjoy here. A lot of it is themed around childrens stories. Lots of things for kids to do for a few hours. The price is very reasonable even for non members. The only negative was the cleanliness of the facility.
