To whom it may concern. I have a problem that I would like to discuss with you about what happen when I went to the 9:30 club on Saturday the 16th (last Saturday). I was so happy that walk on the earth was finally in town. Even happier that it was at the 9:30 Club. I really wanted my sons to enjoy what I had enjoyed back in the day.. Last concert I saw there was the bus boys. I invited my sons and their friends out to see the show… 6 tickets in total plus two parking passes. When we got there a pan handler came up to my youngest son 22 and ask for some money ... being raised to help our fellow man/woman he did the bouncer or main front entrance id manager immediately came up to him and said dont do that she will be hanging around all night. My sons said nothing out of the ordinary beside its cool i just want to help out. after that the bouncer said let me see your id. this is in the front of the venue not inside your establishment.. Then he said you are inebriated so you cannot drink inside ...not true at all .. While going thru the turn styles and being stamped , my son was stamped three times, this same manager said something else to my son like I will be watching you. My son felt a little troubled for all of the hassle and professionalism shown. He said whatever.. that set youR manager off. Then your manager said you have to leave….. after 20 minutes of trying to figure out what his problem was. Even after Flagging down the police they would not let my son in ... needless to say they offered no refund and said we could go in but not my son.. By the way most of your staff was puzzled as to why this guy was going off; but said he is the boss. I live 26 miles away this venue is in the middle of DC. WE ALL LEFT Under protest. 235 dollars wasted over a young black thud as a manager who apparently had a bad night about something else. I am 55 girlfriend 51, sons and friends there that night all 22 to 26 years old all professional, all god fearing good people.. who only want to be treated like you want to be treated.

In a nutshell, DC is lucky to have the 930 Club. Having been to concerts of all sizes up and down the east coast, and regularly flying across the country (and even once to Europe) to see bands perform, I can say that the 930 Club is my hands-down favorite venue to see a show in. The sound coming out of the new sound system, upgraded in early 2010, is amazing. Plenty of good sight-lines, and the bar staff are always great. Drinks are at the upper end of average. The club is independently owned, something rare in this age of LiveNation and the likes. I see that many people here have complained about security. Im willing to bet dollars to doughnuts that they broke the rules first but arent being forthcoming about it. Want to keep security off your back? Dont give them a reason to get on it. If youre underage, dont try drinking. Leave your drugs at home. Dont be a douche (by jeopardizing their liquor license) and they wont be douches to you. Ive never once has anything other than polite, professional interactions with the 930s security staff. As for Ms. Bad Customer Service, you are right - they dont scan tickets, they tear off the stub on your way in. So they cant replace tickets, if they did whats to stop dishonest folks from giving away their tickets to friends and then claiming they were lost? A scanning system costs big bucks. Ever wonder why you can see a band at a club for $15-$20 but its $50+ for an arena show? Scanning is one of the reasons. Oh, and the 930 has never sold tickets through Ticketmaster. They currently sell through TicketFly, but previously went through Tickets dot com.

I have been in hundreds of concert venues in my lifetime and the 930 Club is my least favorite place to see a show. It all starts at the front door. The staff is horrific. Its almost as if management has told the staff to treat their customers like misbehaving children. Its anti-customer service. Its as is you are entering a juvenile detention center. I will specifically call out the short, fat guy with the tats and the goatee. He examines the IDs of people in their thirties like he is a border agent. Those of you that have been there to witness his antics will know exactly what Im talking about. Shocking levels of douche from the staff. It seems like every good show at the 930 club sells out, meaning youll probably not be able to see the band on stage because the club oversells the venue. If you are lucky to find your way to the bar dont move because you will finally have a good spot. The best move is to go with a group and get a spot on the balcony railing. Otherwise youll be standing on your tip-toes to see the top of the performers heads. I wouldnt bother attending a show there if you are shorter than 58. Also, whatever you do, dont eat the food. Its hazardous. There are few positives beyond the acts that they have on their stage. No doubt they get the best. And the sound is pretty good too. But the concert experience at the 930 club is consistently awful. I get depressed every time a band I like decides to play there.

Had a good experience the first time I went. I bought a ticket for another concert in May back in February. I misplaced the ticket and called to see if I could get another ticket printed. They were able to look me up and verify that I bought a ticket but they refuse to reprint tickets. So even if you have a confirmation, your out of luck with 9:30 club. This is bad customer service to me. I dont why you expect customers to be perfect and not make mistakes. My assumption is that their ticket sale procedures are not sophisticated enough to just allow for reprints and they are afraid of scalpers. They must not actually scan the tickets to verify they are legit. If they did, it would be easy to distinguish voided tickets that someone is trying to scan versus real tickets. I think its sad that this low budget club has such stupid policies and procedures. Its time for an upgrade! Also, when I called to ask about replacing the ticket, the guy on the phone tries to give me a life lesson about losing money on the street and it just being gone. This is not money lost on the street since you clearly have a paper trail of my purchase. He had the nerve to look up my purchase and say he could see that I purchased the tickets. What kind of business promotes telling their customers youre just out of luck! I cant even support a low budget operation like this! I suggest doing will call only if buy tickets at this venue.

Like music? Then you already know about 9:30 and all that stuff. Dont like music? Then why the heck are you reading this review about a music venue? You must really like chicken tenders. So its a music venue. Nothing fancy, except for the coat check. Never had that down home. We just tied the thing around our waist. There are 3 bars and even at packed shows you tend to get served in a timely manner. The angles to see the stage up top are great and the floor down low has plenty of room for those times when you just lose your self to a Madonna song. Youd be the only one though as she goes tot he Verizon center and not here. Way to be weird there broseph. I will admit that they can pump up the prices a lot for bigger bands but usually its worth it to grab some friends and head here for a lesser-known band as well as a very popular band. The kids do get in but they dont seem to bother us. Dont get me wrong, they do still host some great small bands who arent yet on the billboard top 20 so dont get your hopes up that youll never see Jamie T in DC. As far as the food goes, I hear they have decent pub-style snacks. Tenders, chicken sammiches and the like. Ive never eaten here, though. Thats what Duffys is for across the street.
