WORST EXPERIENCE EVERRRRRRR!! the only good thing about this bar is the friendly bartenders!!!! the rest of the staff are UNPROFESSIONAL and EXTREMELY RUDE!! My friends and I went out on a Saturday night, 14 of us, each bought at least 2 drinks, plus tips. You do the math. AND WHAT DOES THE BOUNCER DO? LITERALLY PICKED UP A 51" GIRL, WEIGHING 100 LBS, OUT THE DOOR WITH NO WARNINGS AND SLAMMED THE DOOR ON HER BACK! Reason? NONE! She went back in to ask him why, he couldnt even come up with a legit answer and tosses her out again and says "have a nice life!" WTF?! She was completely sober, not causing any trouble and the stupid uneducated bouncer decided to throw her out for no effin reason!! My friend woke up the next day with sores and bruises and decided to email the owner. He approached the situation with apologetic manners and offered VIP passes to a concert free of charge at first, backing up his staff by saying theyre professional, but by the third email, completely 180 degrees changes his attitude and threatens that this matter is now in his lawyers hands! Then the next day, the co owner decided to call my friend to tell her that they didnt find anything in the security tape that showed them mistreating her. The co owner talked fast, loud and completely refused to let my friend talk. She wanted to go there and see the tapes her self. Next thing he "professionally" said was: "F YOU!" and hung up. She called back and no one answered. She called back again and the "secretary" answered saying that the co owner isnt there. My friend proceeded to schedule an appointment and the "secretary" says that she doesnt know the office hours. What. The. F!!... My friend then called him on his cell phone and he finally answered yelling: "just give up already!! Nothings gonna happen!!" If this is the so called "professional" staff with "trained manners", I cant possibly imagine what "unprofessional" is. The doorman had no reason to throw my friend out with such force! Weve all been drunk before at other bars and of course have been kicked out, but more like escorted out. NO ONEs ever literally picked us up and thrown us out! We all paid and tipped our drinks and were all sober! I now understand that the reason for such unprofessional service isnt fully the doormans own fault, its also due to the unprofessional and crappy management.

The only times Ive been to RnR Hotel was for shows and for that its an OKAY venue. The bottom floor where the bands perform is long and narrow and hardly ideal when theres a large turn out for a show. If you dont want to worm your way in, youll most likely end up being pushed back infront of the bar or near the entrance to the hall. Which doesnt give you a whole lot of options to be able to even see the performers. Also, a huge deterrent for me has been the sound quality. I cant really say if its because of the layout of the room or if its lack of ability from the staff handling the sound, but almost every show Ive been to has run into some issue and didnt nearly sound has good as other venues where Ive seen the same bands before or bands with a similar sound. Everyone else who Ive spoken to who frequent the other major venues in town have agreed on this. The upstairs has a nice layout though with the bar and the lounge next to it. I guess you can call it "hispter" like because its not a pop club or some upscale bar, so it must be something those young kids like nowadays! Pretty good beer selection though.

The music venue is pretty small and tight and so is the stage but it all adds to the intimacy of the show. Theres limited parking on the sides of the street, and because of that, Id recommend taking a taxi/Uber there (theres an Autozone private parking lot 2-3 blocks to the left but I wouldnt risk it). Sound system is okay, I have heard nicer ones in other venues. There were a few times where I found the vocals drowned in the blaring loudness of the instruments. The bar is on the left once you walk in the venue doors and theres a free cold water station there too if you want to cool down!!! Speaking of cold and cool, the venue was hella blasting cold air and every single music venue should strive to be "Rock & Roll Hotel cold". Merch table is on the second floor on the far left, which mixes with the crowds of people having drinks and dancing up there. This makes it incredibly difficult in finding the table at first glance and even more difficult to go through that sea of people. Its not an ideal place to have a conversation with the artist/bandmember in all of the commotion, noise and tightness on the second floor.

Its a hipsters paradise!!! I say that as a compliment because most of the hipsters who go here to party arent the d--che kind and enjoy others company. The downstairs usually has up and coming shows with pretty good artists but sometimes can be filled in with a random band for the night. The upstairs dance floor is probably the best and only one I enjoy throughout DC. The DJs are always amazing and play songs that get the crowd going and even interact with. It is ALWAYS a very diverse crowd on the dance floor. Weve been here numerous times when they had gay-night as well and thats always a blast and Im a straight male. The drink selection is various, even with the bottled beers that range from IPAs to PBR...oh yes, the infamous PBR. The new upstairs area is a nice addition and, while it was nice outside, it was a great place to chill and have a nice conversation with newly met strangers. Overall this place is amazing! If you go here and have a bad time, Ill buy your tab.

I am writing this review to the OWNERS in regards to the BOUNCER only. We went out sober expecting to drink at this bar with all of our friends on 2/16/2014 at 1:10AM and this guy rejected half of our friends and let half in. We found this very odd. He was shaking very hard while holding our ids (We all thought he was on drugs if not withdrawling). We are going to not only tell everyone that reads this review but also beware going to this bar at night. It will not be worth your time. We thought it was going to be a great place to go to, but apparently they only let the drunkest in. BUYER BEWARE!!!! YOU NEED A NEW BOUNCER YOU KICKED OUT HUNDRED OF DOLLARS FOR NO REASON AT ALL. WHEN YOU HAVE A DRUGGIE RUNNING YOUR DOOR IT REFLECTS ON YOUR BUSINESS. AND YOU BUSINESS PAYS YOU BILLS.

Been here twice now. Bar and food is great for a venue. Id almost go here for the bar if it wasnt a venue! But the sound system lacks something. Its loud but very bass heavy. Also the doormen take their time letting people in. They started the show without having everyone inside yet. And the other time I came the show was delayed by a whole hour, so they cut set times short. Maybe I picked two bad days to go but these situations were disappointing for me.

Its a nice place to go for good music and drinks. Food service needs improvement. We ordered a veggie burger and vegetarian option for the chicken frim the menu. Instead we received a thick chunky square piece of tofu on a bun and real chicken. Fries took an hour to come out. Staff was pretty cavaler lacking any sympathy about the chicken mix up given that the mishap has caused me a terrible tummy ache from eating meat. Grrrh...
