Upon pulling into the parking lot, couldnt help noticing the active smoker, which had a wonderful aroma, though still decided to keep the windows rolled up so we didnt take it home with us. Being the first time, it was a little confusing on which door to use, but finally made it to the dining area. Were there for lunch, and the sandwiches sounded good, each coming with two sides included. Wife got the pulled pork and brisket for me. The sides were great, good taste and generous size. The two tomato based sauces on the table were great, full flavor, not a favorite of vinegar based so I couldnt comment on that one. However the sandwiches left a lot to be desired, particularly the portion. Imagine about the amount of meat you would get from a can of tuna, maybe that, and even less with the pulled pork which came with coleslaw on the sandwich. The flavor was fine, just really lost with the rolls they both came on. For $11.95 each I would expect a larger portion, especially with something I would think a BBQ establishment would want to refer to as signature for them. Was really dissatisfied and dont know if I would try it again hoping to get something that would make me want to come back again, especially after this first impression.

Took my girlfriend here for her birthday because she misses Texas bbq. She tasted the burnt ends and cried because they were so good. I ordered the chicken she ordered the ribs. My chicken was probably the worst I have had in my life it tasted like it was spoiled or it was days old. Sides were amazing staff was excellent. I really didnt want to write this review until I went back but I dont know if I will. Its sad how much work and effort they put into this place for someone to give a customer old food. Maybe one day I will come back and if they do it again I will complain but it was not worth ruining everyones day and risking the chance of someone doing crazy things to my food.

Towards the end of my enjoyable meal the owner approached our table and inquired about our meal. I had the baby back ribs, garlic mashed potatoes and baked beans..The meal arrived fast..All were excellent and it was great to find such a restaurant of this type in Connecticut. The owner is a retired firefighter and his retirement dream is this restaurant. His passion and demanding schedule, working 7 days a week surely shows in the type of food they serve, professional and polite staff and clean facilities will pay off. I can relate on how he runs his business and wish him will in his endeavor. I will be back to enjoy another delicious meal.

An unexpected delight for sure. I went with my wife and her friend for an early meal and was blown away by the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff. I had a half rack of ribs which were moist and tender, the meat was falling off the bone making it so easy to devour. I added a few splashes of thier BBQ sauces, and was impressed by the flavors, but the meat was simply delicious without any additions. I think that the prices were extremely reasonable and provided excellent value. I would love to go there with a group and sit outside, pigging out on delicious BBQ!!

I heard good things about the place so my experience may be off. But I am pretty sure the chocolate milk they give my kids was very bad. My daughter threw up immediately after drinking it, but was fine right before and after drinking it / throwing up and even ate her food just fine after that. And then about an hour after leaving my son had terrible indigestion and was crying terribly. Also, there wasnt very much of a vegetarian selection. Vegetarians BBQ too, theres over 7 million vegetarians in the country, and vegetarian food is less likely to cause health issues ;)

You cant find better tasting food. Living in the South for 17 years, I can say that Smokin with Chris is just as good if not better. Atmosphere is great and there is Live Music too! They also have a number of different Ales and Loggers along with some great Wine and an amazing Staff. You will often see Chris and his wife roaming around the restaurant talking to patrons. I highly recommend coming down and checking it out! If you enjoy great barbeque, live entertainment, a cold beer and outdoor seating then you will love Smokin with Chris

Very overrated! Went here because my wife and I received a gift card for Christmas, and we will never be coming back. An older gentleman was walking around asking how the meal was and my wife asked him why the burnt tips were so tough and he started to get loud with my wife! Learn to take criticism if you are going to ask how the meal was! That fact alone will make me let everyone know how rude--I am assuming that gentleman was the owner--that gentleman was to my wife, who is by far the sweetest woman in the world!

One of the best places to eat in all of Connecticut. This is one of those places that, simply put, just does everything the way its supposed to be done. Their meatloaf is my meal. I have it on my birthday or to celebrate. If I was on the death row their meatloaf would be my last meal. They always have great craft beer. Theyve gotten beers like Lunch by Maine, Gbot by Nebco, and Consolation Prize by Lord Hobo. If youre in the area I would highly recommend eating here. Its also a Pokestop for any other enthusiasts!

Food was horrible and had no taste . Service was ok, but honestly should not call themselves a BBQ. The Mac n cheese shouldnt even be called that it was just over cooked pasta with butter and way too many breadcrumbs, dont even get me started on the onion rings they fell apart and Ive had better from burger king and the bread was at least two days old on my sandwich, extremely stale. Oh and the fountain drink was absolutely disgusting like it had mold in it. Never going back there ever!

Went there last night with a group of people hoping for a fantastic meal based on previous reviews. This did not happen. Got a beef brisket sandwich. Bread was hard, meat was extremely dry even with barbeque sauce on it. Had mac and cheese. Again, extremely dry and flavorless. Had sweet potatoes, way too sweet. Disappointing! The sides by themselves are over $3 for a tiny little cup of them. Place is way overpriced for what you get. Probably my first and last time there.

Incredible food just incredible. I live in Southington and like to stop by Smokin with Chris any time Im in the mood for some quality smoked meat. I brought my girlfriend a couple months ago (shes a vegetarian) and she had a quinoia burger (which was a special) and it was fantastic I would have gotten it (as a meat lover). The owner Chris is also very nice and is there most of the time it seems like, keeping things in order.

Stopped by and took a couple pulled pork meals to go. I have to say for a restaurant that is a smoke house the pulled pork was sub par. It was dry and tough. I expected so much more. I did like that they offer multiple sides with the meal which is great for variety but the meat was very unpleasant and the bread for the sand which was also a very dry style bread. Maybe I got it on a bad night.
