After my first visit, Ive frequently used the take-out route. Ive been eating Chinese food frequently, around the world, since I was a kid in Washington, D.C. but, until I found Genghis Cohen, Id not found what I considered good Chinese food in L.A. Now Ive found it. Not only is the food good but the chefs are quite fliexible. For example, I like shrimp with lobster sauce with white sauce rather than the black bean sauce on the menu. I like beef with snow peas rather than with broccoli on the menu. No problem. The only drawback is that it is somewhat expensive for U.S. Chinese food. Highly recommended.

This place would have gotten a four or a five had it not been for the awful service we received. Not one smile or pleasant demeanor. One of the waitresses yelled at us for moving a seat in the music section so that we could all sit down. Then she snatched menus from our hands and refused to serve us anything because we decided we didnt want to dine in the music section. Apparently this same waitress is always getting complaints. It hasnt been explained to me why she is still there. Anyway she was rude enough to drag this place down to a 1 star.

This was pricier than what I was expecting. But Genghis Cohen delivered both quantity and quality which is super rare for a place in west hollywood. I love the broccoli & beef and the Kung Pao Trio. The Shalom Pork was disappointing though. The service was decent but I think they neglected us a little because we were college students. I would never call it bad by any measure though. If I ever want to eat in this region, I will most certainly consider this place at the top of my list.

After eating here for 10 plus years, the new management has ruined it. Food is not the same, smaller portions, bad phone etiquette. The guy answering the phone could careless - if he actually made an effort it would be one thing but he could not be bothered. Such a sad thing that an institution was lost because the new owners dont get it or at least whomever they hired to run it doesnt. Hopefully they can turn things around but for the meantime, Ill be looking somewhere else.

I always had excellent meals at Genghis Cohen. I can highly recommend Spicy Cilantro Shrimp and Orange Chicken (with all white meat). Quick service, pleasant environment and an even more enjoyable experience when you have live music from local bands and performers in the music venue connected to the bar, that is connected to the restaurant. Today for first time I tried the hot and sour soup, great taste and impeccably served portions.

We arent from LA, and Googled Chinese food. We went to the location, and from the outside it looked scary. We almost left, but it had such solid reviews we decided to give it a try. Im so glad we did! The food was absolutely delicious. The service was great. We stuffed ourselves, there were no leftovers. It was the best Chinese food Ive had in 20 years. Definitely stop by if youre in the area.

The food was good! Hot and sour soup, orange chicken, chowmein, and potstickers were excellent. The Mongolian beef is horrible. I would never order it again. Super chewy and not good. Service is average. Nothing special and can be a bit improved. Waiter wasnt too attentive. Overall, 3 stars is perfect and I would probably come here again.

When it comes to Chinese food Im a bit of a purist, but I have to admit, I secretly dig this place. Authentic its not, but it still pleases - Id be lying if I said I didnt have cravings for the crackerjack shrimp from time to time. And given the portions, the prices are actually quite reasonable.

Visited this establishment to see Harry Kipner play in the small theatre style area that is off to the right of the restaurant. It definitely had a really cool vibe, being first and foremost a new york style chinese restaurant, second a venue for music.

My absolute favorite Chinese/Jewish fusion restaurant. Whenever I come home to visit, I make it a point to stop in and eat. I love their cilantro/jalapeño shrimp, its phenomenal. Plus they have some of the best local talent on select nights, its great!

Maybe we are too spoiled ;) we thought the food was ok but nothing more. As one of our teenagers said, everything tasted too sweet. I guess its a good place for a casual lunch or dinner if you set your expections in the right place.

I used to eat and drink here much more often when the previous ownership had this place. The food is inconsistent these days- sometimes very good, sometimes so-so. They need to pay more attention to their restaurant patrons.

Eat here like 4 times a week. The food is awesome, they DO NOT use MSG, and the service is always top notch. Really, really great Chinese food. Pretty fun spot, too.

Cool little intimate venue in the back. Decent scotch collection. The smell of orange chicken wafting across the stage. Ample street parking. What is this place?

Good food if it arrives in time. Genghis does not deliver and you have to go thru grub hub which sometimes takes forever to deliver
